The process we already have in place will be fine. It just needs to be done and a nickname chosen in a very timely manner.

You should look up the history of the Klan in Grand Forks. Not saying they should change that name, but...

Put a new nickname in place following the process that has already been put in place. But, do it expediently. The process allowed everyone a place at the table. They won't have grounds for a complaint. Unless no name is chosen, which leaves the defacto name as the Fighting Sioux. Then, they may have grounds to complain. Don't allow that option to exist.

You might be right, but all this does is showcase the reason a new nickname will need to be chosen. If it is left at just North Dakota, expect more of this with much more teeth.

As much as I want the nickname issue put to rest, I'm beginning to wish this game was over even more...

Unless I see a true scientific poll concerning true stakeholders showing a leader among the nicknames suggested, including the no nickname option, I believe nothing I read here about which option is most popular. With that said, I also wouldn't believe that the most popular option would necessarily be in the best interest of the University of North Dakota.

National Championships. He gets promoted to.... Wyoming. (I love the Pokes...but this ain't the Dallas Cowboys.) Hakstol.... No national championships.. But, some great seasons. He goes to the greatest hockey league in the world. hmmmmmm....

What makes me laugh is that Colorado State University students embrace the old name "Aggies". Even though they are the Rams now, the kids there totally dig the name "Aggies". The crowd, a lot of students there, love wearing the Aggies shirts with those fugly orange and green colors. It's part of their heritage. But at Fargo, they hate that name. It's probably because of low self-esteem. They hate their history and wish people would forget. They got issues.. Myself, I wouldn't mind being the Flickertails again. Why not? I'm proud of UND's heritage and tradition. Unlike those self-loathing folks at the College of Home Economics...

Onlone learning is very self directed. IMHO...better for upper level and grad students. But...depends on the learner and the type of course.
