In hindsight, things could have done much more effectively by Kelley. But, what a mess! I hope we can transition to a new name soon and start dealing with real problems. Like kicking Moo U's a $$ in the football!

It goes beyond athletics. How can a university president be 100% effective with this bizzare distraction hanging over their head? I actually believe Kelley has done a fairly good job under difficult circumstances. I think he would like to give his successor a chance to manage the school without this distraction. Can't blame him for that.

I feel like we had our time, let the folks on campus move on. It's just a nickname, but its too damaging to UND to continue this debacle. I'm willing to say Go Ridas! (Even with my seven Sioux jerseys in my house...not to mention my hats...hoodies...etc.. )

I felt a lot like the folks against a new name for a long time. But, reality set in and anger went away. Without trying to overanalyze, it really is like a grieving proccess.

Oh, we know that the sky isn't falling. It already fell. Rather than trying to operate under sanctions, it's better to level the playing field by being in compliance. I want UND to succeed. So, we have to choose a nickname. You see, as much as it pains some folks...a minority...the NCAA > UND. That's the real world. I can't think of any reasonable UND fan who would tell the NCAA to stuff it and go back to the Fighting Sioux name. If this happened to Moo U, I can think of one insane convicted felon from the Land of Lakes that would be crazy and stupid enough to do so.

Cheater! While I know you don't support Roughriders, and I believe we need a nickname, I also know that we are both passionate about UND and their athletics. The very passionate ones in this debate are the ones that wish to just have "North Dakota" for a nickname..or non-nickname in reality. I personally like anyone who is passionate about UND and their athletics. I hope the final three end up being: 1. Roughriders 2. North Dakota 3. Anything not as stupid as Sundogs.

So, the USS NORTH DAKOTA has an insignia that includes the words ROUGH AND RIDERS. They must not have gotten the memo from a minority of UND fans on this board that Roughriders has nothing to do with North Dakota.

If someone put up to vote on this board: A nickname vs. No nickname Wonder which would win? Here, I would guess "A nickname" would win.

That is funny. But I won't. That "poll" is a joke. There is no data proving any name is really "leading".

Looking at the voting here, it appears that Roughriders is gaining the momentum I believed it would. However, the second place name, "North Dakota", is carrying quite a few votes also, even though it is trailing Roughriders by quite a bit. I discount websites, including the Fargo Forum, that allow multiple votes. I hope the committee allows one vote per stakeholder, and that they include Roughriders, North Dakota and another name that has support. I think Roughriders would easily gather over 60% of the vote and be considered the nickname, but to be truly transparent in the process, North Dakota deserves to be in the final three. If North Dakota is not put in the final three, there will be a very vocal minority feeling left out of the process.

The popular vote is breaking to Roughriders. It should make the final three easily. However, I just am not sure this committee will accept the will of the people.

You can vote repeatedly. Thus, angry and motivated Fighting Sioux Forever folks are voting for North Dakota over and over. The numbers are beyond skewed.

The University of North Dakota Roughriders. Sounds good. Nothing will be as good as Fighting Sioux, but it's time to move on. Go Ridas!!
