Bottom line is that th e NCAA is forcing UND, in a obviously underhanded way, to choose a nickname. Let's suck it up and get it done.

If that was the meaning, there is no way in hell Kelley will allow a no nickname vote. I believe it was and he won't.

One game into a series at St. Clown State and the minute one husky fan sees a Sioux jersey or hear "Let's go Sioux!" , It's over. With a new nickname, you can wear the Sioux gear and yell "Sioux!" without liability put on UND. Without a new nickname, the NCAA can place blame on UND. Bottom line...if you are a UND supporter...choose a new nickname.

No. They just dropped the nickname because of potential sanctions from the National Truckstop America Association. The owners and truckdriver stakeholders held a vote and decided to not have a nickname and be forever the defacto former name, so they will be just known as "Truckstop". Now, all the other truckstops make fun of them. They should have called themselves The Roughriders Truckstop. Because the NTAA is now suing them for breach of contract. Sic, or is that "breech"?

Believe it or not, but the NCAA isn't stupid enough to believe that by not adopting a new nickname, UND will not actually be retaining the Fighting Sioux nickname in the absense of a new nickname. Some people may be gullible...they are not. Guarantee if no name is chosen, UND will be back in court and found in breach of contract. It would even be uglier for UND... And, no, I'm not a lawyer. Just someone blessed with common sense.

3-1... A public vote of the stakeholders would probably be the same. I'll bet Roughriders will hit the magical 36 soon...the number of outraged no nickname supporters that bothered to show up for the mass demonstration... Just sayin'

Well, acceptance is the final stage in dealing with death... Fighting Sioux nickname...love it as much as we did, it's well beyond time to stick a fork in it.

Absolutely. I think this will play out with a new nickname. It may not be the one we want, but it won't be Sundogs. Kelley is a political animal. He did not attain that position by being naive to all of these nuances. He'll get this done.

Obviously, living in Colorado, I couldn't attend. But, I wouldn't anyway. However, I do want to say something about this crowd. They are die-hard UND fans who truly think they are doing the right thing, so I try not to "rip" on them, however misguided I think they are.
