  1. He may be very good, but I see the Minnesotapreps.com website has him as a Division II recruit. Is he better than the TE NDSU signed from Minot Ryan? That is an honest question not any smack talk. I know nothing about either one of them.
  2. Yeah, The ONLY reason a recruit would pick NDSU over UND would be because of the lack of a post season. That seems a little bit arrogant to think recruit couldn't possibly like the NDSU coaching staff, school and facilities more than UND's. I think NDSU, with Bohl or Perles or whoever is the head coach will get their share of kids even after UND becomes playoff eligible. And if they play again in 3 or 4 years, I'll go out on a limb and say NDSU will have a chance to be competitive, maybe even have a chance to win. (We can dream can't we?) By the way, If no recruit could ever turn Coach Lennon down, why has he won only 1 National Championship?
  3. I'm not trying to start anything here, but wouldn't it be interesting and a bigger draw if the Sioux opened that tournament with Western Oregon instead of Crookston? You see Crookston every year if not twice a year, why not play Western Oregon and then have a chance at Montevallo?
  4. I believe Morehead State is in the same conference as Valpo (Non-scholarship), so they would probably come to Grand Forks for a price. Really don't think you want them since it would be a massive blowout. Stay away from going to any either of the Montana Schools since they both apparently have no trouble of backing out of contracts to return games on the road. Montana burned SDSU and Montana State burned NDSU. Make them come to Grand Forks first.
  5. I was at the Bison game last night also, and to be perfectly honest, they weren't even taking tickets at the door to get in. If you showed up you got in. And the lots were full because instead of paying $3 to park, they were paying drivers $10 to park just to fill the lot. And the end zones are actually just large sheets of fabric with people painted on them to make it look like the seats are full. I guess the Bison's secret is out. I think next year they are just going to give up and play at Dacotah Field with the 4,000 seats that are left there. Maybe they could at least make that place look half full.
  6. That's funny. I've been to two UND hockey games in the past 7 years, and got free tickets through promos to each. I guess NDSU isn't the only one doing it.
  7. So since we seem to be into comparison scores, Before the Sioux play Southern Utah the week, Should we all agree that whoever fares the best against Southern Utah this year is the better team? They will be the only common opponent this year.
  8. How many students were at the game? Around 3,000? BTW, My Season tickets in the Fargodome at the goal line half way up are $18/ticket.
  9. I heard that NDSU is up to about 7,000 season tickets sold this year for football. I'd be willing to bet UND doesn't have a game this year where they have 7,000 paid seats in teh stands.
  10. I don't have the quote, but when Kupchella made the announcement of the move, the extra year of transition was to allow for the extra fund raising commitment it would take and to allow more time to line up a conference invite. He made it sound like if both did'nt happen, there may not be a move at this time.
  11. One trip to the "Big Dance" in basketball would be bigger than any national exposure from a hcokey national championship the Sioux or any hockey team would get. I'd be willing to bet the Mid Con Final on ESPN this week had higher ratings than the Frozen Four last year.
  12. What are they the last two years after BSU has gotten a few years behind them in D1? What is the recent trend in that series? It seems that perhaps Bemidji is gaining on the Sioux. There doesn't seem to be too much of a seperation between the two this year.
  13. I don't think NDSU will be adding hockey anytime soon, but after watching how close Bemidji State is to the Sioux the last couple of years after 5 years in Division 1, you may not be that far off. If NDSU ever does add hockey, They will pump two or three times the resources into the program than Bemidji can. After a couple of years, they probably would give the Sioux a run. I like a third year Blais coached NDSU team to sweep the Sioux in a home and home series over a Hakstol coached Sioux squad.
  14. Good luck with that vote. I don't think you want that decision in the hands of the University presidents. That group would make Hilary Clinton look like a right winger. You might as well cut your losses and change the name now.
  15. Perhaps when the President of the NCAA states a week ago that regardless of the outcome of lawsuit, they still plan on enforcing the same restrictions on schools with indian nicknames, its time to back off. Why spend hundreds of thousands of dollars if it won't help you in the long run? It looks like UND has two options, accept the restrictions or join the NAIA. The NCAA doesn't need UND, but UND needs the NCAA. It's time they realize that. Personally, I don't care if UND is the Fightin Sioux or Fighting Frogs or if NDSU is the Bison or Turtles. It has nothing to do with the quality of the athletes or teams you put on the field. Taking this thing to court is just stupidity.
  16. Bohl was right, He said "Sporting Event" not "Cocktail Party".
  17. The Sioux beat South Dakota by a touchdown. Central Arkansas beat USD 24-0. South Dakota State beat Central Arkansas the next week 24-0. Apparently that team that lost to a Div III school is better than UND using your logic.
  18. I actually heard Coach Bohl say on the radio that the NCAA would never change their rules in mid season no matter what. I'm not sure what you were listening to. That whole topic was started by a writer on D-1AA.com about how it was a shame that one of the top if not the best team in 1-AA won't get a shot at the playoffs. He suggested the NCAA make an exception for NDSU, not Bohl. Bohl responded to a question about that happening and said it wouldn't, that after the SDSU game their season would be over. But you can go on thinking what you want. Wouldn't want the truth to get in the way of your hatred for NDSU and Coach Bohl.
  19. When the Gateway adds the NDSU/SDSU combo in January (if not sooner), they will be very happy with 9 teams until someone else leaves the conference. They will never vote to go to an 11 team conference. Besides, Bunning and Kupchella already have the Big Sky locked up in their back pocket. Why would any Sioux fan want to settle for the Gateway/Mid Con anyway when the FSSN pretty much writes the ticket to any conference they want into.
  20. Come on, The Univ of Mary isn't better than the Bison.
  21. Nice try at a shot at NDSU. The only way you can get a 2-for-1 is on a general admission ticket. If you have been to a game at the Fargodome, you wouldn't know that the only general admission seats are the tops of the end zone. The sidelines and bottom half of both endzones are reserved and don't qualify for the 2-for-1. If they sell a total of 1000 gen admis tickets a game I would be surprised.
  22. I was at the Metrodome and didn't hear any anti-Sioux chants. From what I heard, there must be some Sioux fans that are still somewhat obsessed with the Bison. A Sioux fan friend of mine was at Suite 49 when the Bison-Gopher game was on. He said the Anti-Bison sentiment was pretty thick and the place erupted when the field goal was blocked. Sounds like some Sioux fans are still a little concerned about the Bison too.
  23. They played the best game I have ever seen a Bison team play and still lost. The thing is the Gophers played the worst game I've seen a Gopher team play since 1983 vs. Nebraska, which is what kept the score close. So, if you think the Bison deserve credit for a close loss in the best game I've ever seen them play... that's your opinion. I just think it was stupid to schedule that game period. There's no way they were going to win that game even if they played great and the Gophers played poorly, which is exactly what ended up happening. Those guys think they're a lot bigger than they actually are, and don't need you or anybody else to make comments that will boost their already overinflated egos. You'd think they're USC or Notre Dame they way some people talk, and quite frankly I think it's sickening. We have a very good football team at UND, and I think it's about time our fans stop paying attention to that other program.
