  1. The game would be well-served by Cindy Crosby wearing a black eye.
  2. Toews again showing why he wears a "C" http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/hockey/globe-on-hockey/jonathan-toews-leads-players-speaking-out-over-nhl-violence/article2405143/?utm_medium=Feeds%3A%20RSS%2FAtom&utm_source=Home&utm_content=2405143
  3. According to Twitter Torres is on vacation indefinitely pending a hearing Friday.
  4. It was over in 2005 when the two tribes requirement was imposed. Deal with it.
  5. It doesn't really help when Shanahan doles out "discipline" but shaking a "magic 8-ball" instead of providing a consistent line of penalties. If Torres gets less than a 4 game vacation the NHL should be ashamed of itself.
  6. On the other hand, it is pretty funny watching Crosby play "tough guy". Too bad Dave Schultz wasn't around to clean his clock.
  7. He also complained of nausea in some post. Maybe it's morning sickness ...
  8. No, they'd wait until after either/both elections. And I doubt there would be much fanfare beyond a press release, sort of how they dropped it on MS and SC. Moreover, I don't see the bedwetters who originally pushed this issue accepting the situation if the state effectively mandates that the moniker remain at UND. In fact, I find their relative silence of late on this matter to be interesting.
  9. Oh, I don't know. I was wondering how Jesse, Ron, Russell, etc. would feel if the Sioux moniker was retained after a state-wide vote and all of their "hard work" of the past to erase it from UND as rendered useless by an electoral process. I think they'd find a pretty receptive "academic" audience in the NC$$ Executive Committee that North Dakota is maintaining a "racist" symbol in the moniker. As a practical matter, a state-wide sanctions policy could also be a backdoor way for the NC$$ to advance its agenda against other schools who are not currently on the H&A list by broadening the scope to target states versus schools.
  10. Actually, none of the votes matter to the NC$$. That time has long since passed. SL and SR could vote unanimously that UND should keep the Sioux for 1000 years and it would not impact the NC$$ or the settlement agreement that binds the parties. Same goes with the SL litigation. Even if they win fat chance the NC$$ has no obligation to release UND from its settlement agreement.
  11. Thanks. So we can count on your vote to drop the moniker?
  12. UND and the board have done what they can to retire the Sioux moniker, But the people of North Dakota, by and through their political process, seek to keep the Sioux moniker hanging around UND's neck. And that's why if the state votes for UND to retain the Sioux moniker, the entire state should be subject to same state-wide sanctions that the NC$$ has imposed on Mississippi and South Carolina for their various displays of the Confederate flag.
  13. I doubt the judge will rule from the bench, but the questions may be pretty pointed.
  14. I am quite certain that the resident "Fools Three" will be more entertaining than usual with their hysterical rants about "murder", "hate crimes", "rights", etc. And one will probably complain about his gaseous belly ...
  15. Or they may bump up one of the assistants, ala Hakstol taking over for Blais. Eades' public desire for the Mankato job may also signal his desire for another gig, such as the USHL, another college team, etc., since Haks probably isn't going elsewhere anytime soon.
  16. It was pretty healthy when I was on campus too. I remember working out my upper body at the Down Under for Buck Pitchers at 3 PM each Friday. Occasionally, we'd have to swim when somebody "Sank the Ship". We'd later run the stairs to Sensations for 2-1 mixed drinks and practice "Irish yoga" to regain our balance. We would then walk, run, jog, stagger or whatever to Frenchy's for a few sets of 16 oz mugs. And then when we were throughly gassed, we'd reward ourselves for a great workout with drinks at Whitey's and/or the Antique and Blue Moose. Take that P-90X ...
  17. Sports can be divorced from most colleges? http://www.freakonom...and-basketball/ The Kahane study deals with the dollar impacts of D1 hockey.
  18. I read a few years ago on the NC$$'s website that the men's hockey tourney is only second to men's bouncyball in profitability for them. Not sure where lacrosse or women's bouncyball fall into the mix.
  19. He obviously needs to be re-educated, comrade.
  20. Watching Dave "spin" his way through this issue is a pretty amusing way to start the day. Then again, my coffee is just starting to kick in ...
  21. God you really are high. The NC$$ doesn't care about "bad press", or some fanciful "backlash". Nor do they care about some flyover state's laws. If they did, we probably wouldn't be having this discussion. They've been pushing their agenda for years, and they aren't stopping because a bunch of ignorant Norwegians think their vote actually matters outside of the state in June or November. They have UND's student-athletes by the "short and curlies" and that's about it. Your half-baked concept of "martyrdom" has no resonance with them, or with the athletes wearing UND unis.
  22. Says the guy who's sacrificing nothing.
  23. I think you've finally discovered Dave's true motivations for wanting the Sioux moniker to remain at UND: It's all about him. He could care less about doing what's "right" or standing up for NAs, or standing up to an arrogant and hypocritical NC$$. It's not relevant that UND and its student-athletes are bearing the brunt of this fight. As long as Dave's "happy", to hell with everybody else.
  24. It's not costing you a thing. It'll cost the school, its student-athletes and its stakeholders a bundle.
  25. More coverage on Montana football http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702303302504577325813287674918.html?grcc=1a4faf682cc1471293a030f7bdab4f18Z0ZhpgeZ1Z850Z200Z117Z1&mod=WSJ_hps_sections_sports
