  1. Good for him. The 'Hawks did it for Toews. And Parise is in a good position to make serious $$$ with the Devs,or maybe somewhere else.
  2. Mike Commodore would probably follow you. He was asking for game updates yesterday.
  3. Agreed. Minnesota showed up to play, and they played well most of the game. UND looked lost and beaten down most of the second and third periods.
  4. They were afraid of offending the dead ...

Definitely nicer in color, and I like the "throwback" look too with the laces. I wouldn't mind adding one to the closet with my Sioux jerseys.

  7. Maybe they can do a season retrospective. I have to admit I've gotten a bit hooked on these 24/7 shows, especially the hockey programs.
  8. Good story on the open-access programs around college hockey, including at UND http://slapshot.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/03/23/all-access-hockey-broadcasts-spread-to-campuses/?ref=sports
  9. Notre Dame-USC
  10. Of course they're BS policies. They come from the academics, not the athletic departments. Maturi and Alvarez have said as much, but they're still bound to obey them.
  11. "The public"? What is that? Most NoDaks I know could care less about Indian Country unless they're going to a casino. Not sure what color the sky is in your world, but "the public" probably cares less about NAs than they do about whether gas is going about $4/gallon or whether another Kim Kardasian sex tape is "leaked" on the internet. If you think "the public" can "save" the Sioux moniker for UND I have a slightly used bridge in New York you may be interested in ...
  12. In reality, nobody in power really gives a damn about SL, SR, Sisseton, Mille Lacs, Red Lake, or any other band. If they did, the reservation system and the dated notion of "tribal sovereignty" would be dismantled, and the US would end its own version of apartheid.

Think of it as a small price to pay for the team's contined success.
  14. Not really news to us, but still ... http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2012/03/22/us/ap-hkc-no-name-north-dakota.html?hp
  15. And the SL regime at that time was apathetic, at best. They didn't even want to discuss the matter with Kucphella.
  16. I don't know about you, but after reading that diatribe, I thought I heard strains of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" ... or maybe it was the copier near my office.
  17. Speaking of drama queens ... Alcorn State also didn't have to try to get into/stay in a new conference. They're stuck playing in their own backwater. Moreover, UND is light years ahead of Alcorn State in every reasonable factor when it comes to academics, size, endowment, etc. Do us UND fans a favor and start cheering for your "Braves" since you're so enamored of that name too, but have no ties to their school either.
  18. And they were showing an "interest" well before 2005 too, Remember the "Outside the Lines" episode with Dean Blais and Roger Thomas? As well as various writeups in the NY Times, Wall Street Journal, etc. and the plaintive wails of people like Leigh Jenrette, Russell Means, Doreen Yellowbird, et al.? The NC$$ doesn't care about "bad publicity" as opposed to pushing its own agenda. If anybody expects "the media" to save the Sioux moniker for UND, they probably think Duke will win the bouncyball title this month too.
  19. Why? They won their fight, with the aid of their congressional delegation, in 2005. Why revisit that mess for UND's benefit?
  20. Right after they finally own up to their own hypocrisy to allow the "approved" white Florida State "rider" to drive a lance into the ground at midfield, and the finally tell FSU to get rid of their moniker too. Maybe we can nominate Kelley to be the next NC$$ boss ...
  21. That's the deal we made. Moreover, the SL regime at that time didn't even really support UND's continued use of the Sioux moniker. Now they're f**king things up for UND.
  22. Why on Earth would anybody think the NC$$ wants to "pressure" UND on this issue? They've essentially won, and the unis the team wears this weekend prove it. The only "pressure" UND faces is from people who were MIA in 2005 and who think they're doing us a favor now.
  23. Or they're big enough (read: kick up enough $$$ to the NC$$) and their states' politicians grab their cajones and bark at the NC$$, they can get off "the list" too. See Florida State and Utah.
  24. You have to wonder if the NC$$ will have people wandering around the X to look for any "official" display of the Sioux moniker among the team, staff, officials, etc.
