I hope all the top (10?) seeds stay in so there are no questions about an asterisk title, regardless who wins it. OK, if it's the gophs, asterisk away.

A surprise Wilbur would sidestep that dilemma and be a fan favorite. Are you Covid-cleared? Added bonus: you're more or less expendable, so If they try to run you, you can take extreme measures.

Thanks again, Blackheart. Great game to watch. I'd forgotten how colossally stupid those 3rd period penalties by Canady and Prpich were. Hadn't forgotten how much I liked Sparky.

It will be interesting if UND meets UW in the tournament. Our D is top notch, and the game is moving pretty slow for Mr. Caufield at present. Holloway is not too shabby either.
-
UND will make the tournament. Glad that who wins the tournament will be decided on the ice.

Special talent. No question.

In a one-and-done scenario, they are still dangerous.

It's gotta be a little bit dumb to work, eh? OK. A lot.

I was right about the boys needing luck last Saturday. A couple of soft goals by Kleven and Weatherby made the difference. Hoping for a tie tomorrow.

I have an image of Clark Griswold watching old family movies in the attic.

2020-21 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

It's tempting to just conclude that championship winners are better, but I don't think we can be that simplistic. IMO, Archie Manning was a better QB than a bunch of those who won SBs. -

Very true. Selective hearing loss is useful too. -
He likes playing in front of fans.

So, Blackheart, will Sodbuster get a primary assist on this one? Assuming you will deliver.

These guys have high end tools, but they have a great deal of poise for being so young and playing a position that typically takes longer to master at this level. In past years, even with good teams, our conservative break-out schemes have resulted in a fair amount of frustration. This D squad is so calm back there and makes a lot of good choices. And not always just chipping it up the wall to a winger who has someone all over him. -

Their composure deep on our own zone is off the charts. They make occasional mistakes, but this Hawks team is very difficult to forecheck. -

Let's be honest. You couldn't remember even when it was not a long time ago. -

Kierstad, JBD, Sanderson, Kleven, Bast, and Frisch? That good a D corps will not come around very often. For any college program. -

I'm surprised they even had hockey back then. -

They could have run three goalies in shifts along with the rest of the skaters and still beaten UNO Saturday. Heck, even throw in an EN shift now and then to give the others a rest--still would have won. They haven't done this in a while (during my lifetime, at least), so they might get whistled for too-many-goalies-on-the-ice once in a while. It's a long skate back to the box when you look over and see another goalie next to you in the net. -

Blasphemy alert. As long as it doesn't have a meaningful effect on seeding, I wouldn't mind seeing the Hawks get spanked once before the NCAAs start, as long as it's not due to bad goaltending, for obvious reasons. A loss might even be better if it causes them to be eliminated in the Frozen Faceoff. As was the case in the old WCHA, winning the regular season title is a bigger honor than winning the tournament, and a loss at this time of year should sting and leave a bad taste in their mouths. If it happens, just don't let it be to UMD. -

This D corps is as good as any I've seen at UND, I think. They're scoring a lot of goals tonight, but man those guys can handle the puck at the back end. -

Wow. A couple of bounces and seeing-eye shots go the other way, and that game could have been 5-1 Mavs. Hopefully, things go better tonight.
