  1. He likes playing in front of fans.
  2. So, Blackheart, will Sodbuster get a primary assist on this one? Assuming you will deliver.
  3. These guys have high end tools, but they have a great deal of poise for being so young and playing a position that typically takes longer to master at this level. In past years, even with good teams, our conservative break-out schemes have resulted in a fair amount of frustration. This D squad is so calm back there and makes a lot of good choices. And not always just chipping it up the wall to a winger who has someone all over him.
  4. Their composure deep on our own zone is off the charts. They make occasional mistakes, but this Hawks team is very difficult to forecheck.
  5. Let's be honest. You couldn't remember even when it was not a long time ago.
  6. Kierstad, JBD, Sanderson, Kleven, Bast, and Frisch? That good a D corps will not come around very often. For any college program.
  7. I'm surprised they even had hockey back then.
  8. They could have run three goalies in shifts along with the rest of the skaters and still beaten UNO Saturday. Heck, even throw in an EN shift now and then to give the others a rest--still would have won. They haven't done this in a while (during my lifetime, at least), so they might get whistled for too-many-goalies-on-the-ice once in a while. It's a long skate back to the box when you look over and see another goalie next to you in the net.
  9. Blasphemy alert. As long as it doesn't have a meaningful effect on seeding, I wouldn't mind seeing the Hawks get spanked once before the NCAAs start, as long as it's not due to bad goaltending, for obvious reasons. A loss might even be better if it causes them to be eliminated in the Frozen Faceoff. As was the case in the old WCHA, winning the regular season title is a bigger honor than winning the tournament, and a loss at this time of year should sting and leave a bad taste in their mouths. If it happens, just don't let it be to UMD.
  10. Love Tim, of course. Olson you can keep.
  11. This D corps is as good as any I've seen at UND, I think. They're scoring a lot of goals tonight, but man those guys can handle the puck at the back end.
  12. Wow. A couple of bounces and seeing-eye shots go the other way, and that game could have been 5-1 Mavs. Hopefully, things go better tonight.
  13. Have they made that a chant at the Ralph? O-MA-HA-HA
  14. Omaha is really really good this year--vastly underrated. With a few good bounces and maybe a flu bug in the other locker room, the boys might win one this weekend.
  15. The playoffs is no time to be taking revenge hits.
  16. Not that I know of, but I haven't followed him.
  17. Robbie Earl was so talented and an excellent player; it's a shame he dove so much.
  18. Brad Berry has been a part of that hard-nosed Sioux tradition for much of his adult life and mentions it often. I trust his judgment.
  19. I've been following Sioux hockey for an equally long time and have seen too many times when undisciplined play screwed up our game. Can't go the distance in the NCAAs with men in the box from undisciplined play.
  20. But who cares, really? It's just hockey played by a bunch of college kids.
  21. That rating in February is a good sign of solid play, but it would nice if it were earned by an extended win streak rather than losses by top competitors.
  22. Bucky appears to be very much back. Good thing.
  23. Bucky's talent is starting to click.
  24. Western score with goalie pulled?
