I agree. I'm entirely OK with him being gone, buy he was a good coach. HIs record in NCHC shows that. Ironic that he won the big one right away, leading many of us to think he had "it" for tournament play. Turned out to be his downfall.

A close friend was a frosh on the team in '71-72 and played a lot on JV, which they had at that time. Gino was coach. Not well-liked by players, according to him. That did not prove to be true when he was HC, though, so maybe it was personal.

I don't know shyt about any of this inside stuff or about other teams' coaches, and I don't have a preference. But if Jackson is hired, it seems to me that continuing the Berry style is the last thing he'd do. He, more than just about anybody, knows how ready the program is for a new direction and has seen up close and personal how brutal the UND HC position can be when you don't measure up.

As good a guy as Berry has been and as well as he has served the University in many capacities, I'd suspect this was handled as a result of ongoing discussions and in a manner acceptable to Berry.
