  1. Yup. There are so many reasons to give the kids’ long-term health top priority. First, you owe it to the player, personally and for his future at the next level. Also, our program must be trusted by teams with future interests in these kids to protect their long term health. At the front end prior to NCAA hockey, future prospects will hear from their advisers and coaches, including CHL, if UND doesn’t put its players’ health above its own immediate desire to win. When there is any doubt, let them heal and give the next kid a chance to contribute.
  2. Think winning 3 of next 4 and splitting at Western will maintain 3 seed going into conf. tourney?
  3. Yeah; even keeping him out for one series would be good news
  4. You’d think there would have been something if there was a bad MRI result.
  5. UND is my alma mater (x2), and I will always cheer loud for them, but away with blue blood classifications; especially in the age of NIL. Go St Thomas, Augustana, and Lake State, et al. I get the point of the thread, though, Hawksfan. There will be some interesting posts.

I wonder if Zmolek’s absence as a leader was felt tonight? They seemed off stride for the first 40+ minutes.

We sure can’t blame refs for our poor play . That said, UMD has to think they need to score pretty soon.

Do our Canadian junior players come to us with much 3x3 experience?
  13. Unrequited rivalry has to hurt.
  14. Plus not many Denver fans have extra long forearms and thick, sloping foreheads.
  15. Yup. Or let them walk away with your house and life savings.
  16. Dang right! My daddy regularly beat my mother, oftentimes near to death. But he’d beat yall to death for certain if you said she wore army boots. Maybe even if you just looked like you was about to say such a thing. “We hold these truths to be self evident: ‘Imma kick your azz.’”
  17. We must rescue them from their ignorance!
  18. Huh (and I say this with all due respect), my take is that not walking away is a sign you’re easily manipulated by morons, not something smart people allow to happen. Now, if the moron presents a risk of physical harm to your family or others, that’s a whole different matter, morally, ethically, and as a matter of law.

Last night was a legit loss but not a particularly hurtful one. They’ll stay focused, I think. They haven’t done well 3x3, but have shown their mettle tying up games late in the 3rd when they had to. As someone said above, they won’t see 3x3 in the NCAAs.

    Would work for me.
  21. Anyone here seen the video? Since they’ve dropped the felony charge, it’s possible that the DA decided, after reading interviews and watching video, that the victim/complainant (and possibly witnesses) just does not invite any sympathy and is therefore a real problem with most juries. To DAs, having technical proof of the elements of the crime is only part of the story: they have to get all the jurors to want to convict. A victim who comes across as an asshole can put a case down in a hurry. Same is true in civil cases with the Parties and their primary witnesses—maybe a little less so with only 5/6 jury verdict.

I don’t think UMD needs to steal to get a point or two. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them get 3.
  23. A friend of mine was a two- time all American linebacker known for his intensity on the field. He shared how common it was in bars, weight rooms, etc., for guys wanting to mess it up with him—pure testosterone behavior. That doesn’t excuse violent behavior, but I’m guessing well known male athletes have to deal with stupid alpha dog behaviors a lot.
