The best coaches can be awful public speakers. His eloquence will be determined by his ability to recruit, teach, and lead young hockey players.

He's not very good at it, but I'm completely OK with that. We're not looking for a politician here. If he's good one-on-one with players, recruits and coaches and good with the team in pressured game situations, I'm happy. He has a civic responsibility as well, where public speaking is required, but if he's honest, it'll work out.

I guess I was way wrong. I just didn't think the AD and coaches would immediately inform a bunch fans on this board about important and confidential interviews and hiring decisions. Story: A friend from my home town had a journalism degree and was interested in acquiring the weekly hometown rag. When he didn't act on it, I asked what was up. He said that so many people asked him whether he was going to consummate his desire to take over the paper, he decided the community didn't need a paper.
