2024-25 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
burd replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
Look at the bright side. We can always win the conference tournament. And if we don’t, this is just one year. There are many more opportunities ahead. It’s kinda like world peace: you just gotta believe. -
You’re right, of course, but I swear emojis have been the death knell for subtlety, irony and satire. Maybe it’s for the better. Maybe we all just need to talk straight.
-
God, a Penrose would be nice!
-
I’m not sure where all the dissatisfaction is coming from. We’re doing better than the Rube Bjorkman years. Be thankful for what you have is what I’d say.
-
Is it just me, or do UND players still have a habit of gliding into puck battles while opponents do not stop moving their feet? Even when the overall hustle level is good. Gliding in with a one-handed poke check just seems to be a tactic.

His intensity level is really high, as was his father's. Combine elite talent with that kind of intensity (sans stupidity) you've got something special. -
I wasn’t clear. That’s on me

I'd be more interested in those who feel they can prove it is impossible. -
And here I thought I was having a little fun with all the gloom.
-
Yeah--why I was wrong.
-
Whatever happens next weekend, it will be bad. If it's good, it'll be a bad kind of good.
-
Wrong on Dane. Goalies don't score a lot of points.
-
Thing is, ALL of our coaches played D.
-
Except Earl had a mountain of talent.
-
I don't know, man; if they lose tonight , , , , After the Cornell weekend, I kicked the dog and nearly lost a foot. After Bemidji, I kicked the wife and nearly lost the house and my IRA and had to keep the damn dog. After ASU, I lost all credibility after making fun of ledgies for three full months. Don't these kids know our lives are affected by their continued refusal to play a full 60?
-
Think they can score without either giving up a goal or taking a penalty within the next 60 seconds?
-
Huge opportunity to help themselves this weekend. The fruit may not be low-hanging, but it's large, it's ripe, and it can be reached.

As compared to shootouts and penalty shots, at least, the goalie has an advantage on a breakaway in that the shooter is usually going full speed. There's a reason they don't do that on shootouts. -
Exhibition games, should there be a change or the status quo

Any stats (or anecdotal evidence) of injury from Man. games? I'm not questioning your cred, cberkas. I've wondered about that issue myself. -
Is there a thread for single game hockey tickets? Mrs b and I are giving some thought to driving up for Saturday’s game.

Nor sure heaviness means in today's game what it did even 10 years ago. It still has net-front presence value. Speed, quickness, and good stick skills are a pretty good antidote to extra size, even on the boards. Does Omac get pushed off the puck more than he should? Yes, but he needs to understand in fast time what he wants to do with the puck. Unfortunately, it appears our coaching on the offensive side of the game may be a little lacking, as far as schemes that might benefit smaller, faster skaters. All four coaches earned their keep as players on the defensive side, and that could be part of the reason, if that is true. People with hockey knowledge are encouraged to rip those thought to shreds. burd is talking out of his arse again. -
Ahh, the old “rumored” citation. Cross my heart, hope to die.
