I want to take Zane's lucky rabbits foot with me to Vegas.

I can think of 1.1 billion reasons the Big Ten took in Johns Hopkins. http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/johns-hopkins-again-tops-in-university-research-spending/2013/12/09/6bc681ca-60eb-11e3-bf45-61f69f54fc5f_story.html

Not taking Stafford long to get settled in Winnipeg. Goal in regulation, then the GWG in the shootout. * Tyler Myers named the game's #1 star. Sorry Central Division, the playoff race just got a little more crowded.

Thank you. I should have added an emoticon.

Most years I would agree. But not this year. The reason is the composition of the NCAA Mens Ice Hockey Committee: http://www.uscho.com/ncaa/mens-division-i-ncaa-tournament/ Minnesota and North Dakota are represented. And I am 100% sure Minnesota would rather be anywhere but Fargo. Put 2+2 together and I would wager two pints that Minnesota goes somewhere else. This is all moot since Wisconsin will get the Big Easy's Ten's autobid by winning the conference tournament.

If there's any justice in this world, Parks' goal will be the GWG.

It really sucks that Montgomery's dad died. Here's hoping for another memorable series.
-
You underestimate the ability of the Gophers to choke on a cupcake.

Mankato leading Anchorage 3-1. If you have Comcast in the Twin Cities, the game may be part of your cable package ... its on 999 in Fridley.
-
More actual fans in the seats at the Ralph tonight than at the John. Edit: UND women with 2 quick goals to take a 2-0 lead late in the second.

The NFL is undoubtedly feeling the heat on domestic issues ... thus the ###### of PSA commercials. Just a guess.

He left out the Red Pepper part, which I found offensive.

If we aren't ready for BYE, then we are in for problems later.

So what happened?

Adversity reveals character. Tonight is a chance to show what we are made of.

I really, REALLY miss the good old days. Not that a Gopher would EVER be brave enough to dive into an opponent's bench. I wasn't at the (original) water bottle game, but I was at the Dane County Coliseum the following year. Intense. A lot of stuff right out of Slap Shot ...

Agree on the coaching style. Contrast that with the way two of the best bench coaches - Babcock and Quenneville - put their young players in spots they can succeed in, and if something bad happens, they get sent back out there to get it right.

Wild with a big rally tonight at Detroit, against a Red Wings team that's in good winning form. Too early to call it a turning point in their season, but if they build on this, then the season retrospectives will point to this game. I love bonus hockey.

From 2000-2001: Bryan Lundbohm against Mankato 10/28/2000: http://www.uscho.com/recaps/2000/10/28/lundbohms-hat-trick-helps-sioux-earn-split-6-1/ and again on Nov 24 vs St Lawrence: http://www.uscho.com/box/mens-hockey/2000/11/24/st-lawrence-vs-north-dakota/ and again on 2/2/01 vs Duluth: http://www.uscho.com/box/mens-hockey/2001/02/02/north-dakota-vs-minnesota-duluth/ Jeff Panzer on Jan 20, 2001 vs Mankato ... on the night Travis Roche got 5 assists: http://www.uscho.com/recaps/2001/01/20/panzer-milestone-helps-und-to-5-1-win-over-mankato/ Ryan Bayda against the BADgers 2/10/01: http://www.uscho.com/box/mens-hockey/2001/02/10/wisconsin-vs-north-dakota/ And Travis Roche against the Beavers: http://www.uscho.com/box/mens-hockey/2001/03/02/north-dakota-vs-bemidji-state/

Two more from 1999-2000 ... Lee Goren again in a 5-0 win at Tech: http://www.uscho.com/box/mens-hockey/2000/01/28/north-dakota-vs-michigan-tech/ Jason Ulmer - came up clutch in game 3 of WCHA playoffs at the old Ralph vs Denver, which was a nailbiter of a series, but we won 9-4. This was mentioned above by The Sicatoka. But its worth mentioning again. http://www.uscho.com/box/mens-hockey/2000/03/12/denver-vs-north-dakota/ (A late night drive back to work the next morning in the Twin Cities, but definitely had adrenalin going that night.)

From the 1998-1999 season: Lee Goren at St Cloud in a 7-4 win: http://www.uscho.com/box/mens-hockey/1998/11/28/north-dakota-vs-st-cloud-state/ Jeff Panzer's 4-goal, 5-point night against the Gophers (5-4W) http://www.uscho.com/box/mens-hockey/1999/01/22/minnesota-vs-north-dakota/ (Followed famously by a 3-goal rally the next night to win 6-5.) Lee Goren vs Denver in an 11-4 win: http://www.uscho.com/box/mens-hockey/1999/02/13/denver-vs-north-dakota/ As an added bonus, no hat tricks but the box score from perhaps my favorite game that season, a 4-3 win at Duluth. * Game tying goal at 19:36 Jay Penzer from Dave Hoogsteen and Trevor Hammer with the goalie pulled * Game winning goal at 19:58 Adam Calder from Jason Blake http://www.uscho.com/box/mens-hockey/1999/01/29/north-dakota-vs-minnesota-duluth/

ESPY Nomination for 'Set Up Line of the Year'.

As of this afternoon, the sad forlorn remnants of the WCHA and CCHA collectively hold down the following national rankings: #1 #2 #3 #4 #5 #6 Also, #11 and #12. How do you like them apples...

Basketball game breaks out at The John. First the gophers, then Wittchow of WI goes headhunting.
