  1. As if we needed more proof that everyone has bought in.... Between the 2 games, 18 different UND skaters blocked at least one shot. And the 51 blocked shots exceeds by 1 the 50 shots on goal from QU and SCSU. Fabulous. Just fabulous.
  2. Red seems to get more cranky all the time. I wonder how much of a competitive disadvantage / recruiting disadvantage that's becoming. Coaches are put in an enormous position of trust, and as an athlete I'd like a balanced view from my coach. Maybe there's reasons other than Mel Pearson's departure that Michigan hasn't made the NCAA's in a long time...
  3. Ryan Massa has been brilliant again.
  4. Omaha 2 quick goals 3 0 3 left
  5. RIT with back to back great A chances 8 left Still 1 0
  6. Omaha speed finally forcing coverage mistakes by RIT

  8. If you want to get hammered really fast, take a sip every time they block a shot.
  9. Hakstol: "This is the first time I don't mind the extra time off."
  10. Based on how dominant he has been in all 3 zones, I would say Tucker Poolman is the top pro prospect I have seen.
  11. In a related story, Don Lucia announces that "UMD is no longer a rival of ours".
  12. As the clock ticked down, and we were trailing by 3 goals, my 6 year old daughter stared at the ice and said "we have Panzer. I think we will win." Then came the rally. And she still believes St Cloud should have been called for goaltender interference.
  13. I certainly hope someone has told the Bruins that this thread would be a lot less interesting without them. Plus, watching Bergeron on isolation camera is just about the best teaching tool there is for aspiring young hockey players. You could watch a whole week and not find a mental error.
  14. By the 5th year, the WCHA Final Four was drawing 11,000 fans per game. Average attendance didn't get over 13000 until the 15th year, which is when the Xcel opened. One of the first sellouts was that AWESOME! 1997 title game. Nothing better than seats in the middle of a whole section of Gopher fans.
  15. Columbus Ohio? Anyone? Anyone? My greatest fear is being forced to watch reruns of Archie Griffin touchdowns ... all weekend long.
  16. /rolleyes / facepalm at New Englanders that think the world ends at the Hudson River. First, why the h-e-double-hockey-sticks would you fly into Bismarck? There's thousands of flights into MSP which is about the same driving distance. Besides, most of the flights into Bismarck have flight crew that's UND alumni. OTOH, maybe they are just throwing a little sandbagging at us.
  17. Here I thought the logical conclusion would be to stop playing a third place game...
  18. Well, the headline on NHL.com is a little bulletin board material: "Boston University, Minnesota State lead NCAA field".
  19. BURN THE TAPES!!! (of NCHC Frozen Faceoff) But seriously, there are times to not dwell on a loss, and I think this is one of them.
  20. 6 NCHC teams 1 Big Ten team
  21. The first years of the WCHA Frozen Four in St Paul were awful, worse than what's going on at Target Center. The old Civic Center had crappy ice that was way worse than this ... Gino was just glad nobody got injured. The restaurants all closed before 5pm so there was nowhere to grab a meal before the games. Sightlines were awful... The key here is the NCHC has to step in an offer some leadership (okay direction) to Target Center. If after that, there's no changes, then I'd be in favor of exploring changes of venue.
  22. I think the Committee will find a way to put BC and BU in different regionals. What with the frozen four in Boston ....
