I'm just saying that when talking about a defensemen it doesn't make any sense to say, "other than turnovers he's actually played well." The primary job of a defensemen is to take care of the puck. If we're allowed to ignore turnovers then Chris Harrington would be considered a great defensemen and we know that's not true.

Other than turnovers? He's a defensemen. If he's turning it over on a consistent basis then he's not playing well, period. That's like saying, "other than stopping the puck our goalies have actually played well."

No kidding. That post by Goon was embarrassing to read. I'm waiting for one Sioux fan to come on here and tell Goon how ridiculous it is to honestly think that WCHA refs favor the Gophers and Badgers but have it in for the Sioux. I'm not exactly holding my breath. Sure, every program has fans that whine about the refs, but when you make a claim in complete seriousness that the league's refs purposely favor your rivals and purposely hurt your team then you have officially crossed that line into complete delusion.

Adam could not have handled the situation worse IMO. It took 14 minutes for him to make the final decision and that should never happen. The correct call was eventually made which is the most important thing but even from sitting in the stands it was obvious that he changed his mind each time after talking to Lucia and Sandelin. Like I said, the correct call was made. The "scouting tape" which is shot from the press box clearly showed that Mcgregor was on the ice with two seconds left on the penalty. There's just no excuse for it taking as long as it did.

It was their first WCHA game so that was the topic of discussion. Of course they'd like to defend their WCHA title by winning it again. The point is that it's not the main goal of this team. The main goal is to peak at the right time and make a good run at the NCAA title. If you're honestly agreeing with "Sioux" who said minny stresses regular season games too much and it burns them out then you haven't listened to what Lucia has been saying for the last seven years on a consistent basis. Finish in the top three in the league and make a run in the post-season. He never mentions the MacNaughton Cup as a goal, ever. YaneA's post with his quotes makes that abundantly clear.

This has been Lucia's attitude from the day he got hired at UM. He couldn't care less about winning the WCHA regular season title. All he talks about is the pairwise and taking a swing at the NCAA title come tourney time. Any Sioux fan trying to prove otherwise is dead wrong because it's not true. In fact, I've never seen any coach so blatantly disregard the regular season more than Lucia. He's all about the post-season and he has made that crystal clear from day one.

It's funny how last week the Sioux are third in these polls and no one says a word but as soon as the Gophers move up to third these same polls are suddenly questioned. Relax, it's October. Nothing in college hockey is more meaningless than early season polls. However, there's nothing wrong with the Gophers being ranked where they are. They moved up because everyone in front of them lost. That's how polls work.

Whatever, we disagree. I was just surprised that of all the players to choose from, it was Taffe that was compared to a player that Hakstol said "I don't have to give him any credit. I don't like how he plays the game." That's not how other coaches thought about Taffe IMO. Now Westrum on the other hand....

Of all the chippy players that have come through this league over the years, Taffe seems like an odd choice to mention IMO. If you didn't like Taffe's antics, then you can't defend Prpich's antics either.

What did Taffe ever do? I honestly don't remember him ever being a hack. It certainly wasn't his reputation to be dirty. Just curious, what are you referring to exactly? Are you sure you're not thinking of Westrum? Now he was cheap.

Come on, it's waaay to early to think that. The gophers got off to a bad start last year losing at home to Fairbanks and losing three out of four points to Duluth. They dropped in the rankings from #1 to #11. They still got a #1 seed even after tanking the final five. It's only October, don't lose your perspective.
