I'm sure you've been to the final five which is why I'm surprised you think there are 16,000 gopher fans there. The place seats about 18,000 and UND always brings a few thousand, so does Wisconsin and St. Cloud. I bet it's much closer to 12,000 gopher fans than 16,000. When the Gophers opponent scores no matter who it is it's usually pretty loud in there with all the combined fans of other teams cheering against them. No way is there 16,000 Gopher fans out of the 18,000 IMO.

Take another look. I'm not the one who changed the subject to teams hating Minnesota. It was brought up twice before I responded.
-
Regardless, having the most wins all time in the history of the sport is something to be very proud of.
-
I agree. If I'm a Maine fan I'm hoping for a split but not expecting it. I was in Madison last weekend for the football game and also attended the Friday night game. I was impressed with UND's top line and I think Lammy is very solid. I watched Saturdays game at the bar and my jaw dropped when Oshie made that move around a defender and then beat Elliot with a shot from his knees. It clearly hit the post so I'm not sure why Sioux players started celebrating but what an amazing play.

25 years? Minnesota started in 1922-23 and UND started in 1929-30. You're not allowed to use dog years to make your argument sound better.
-
It's not just about titles. Minnesota has about 400 more wins all time than UND. Not to mention more NCAA tourney appearances AND wins than anybody including the Sioux. We also have more Frozen Four appearances than UND. Did I mention an all time winning record against the Sioux? We could go back and forth all day long about who has the better program. The truth is that UND, Minnesota, and Michigan can all make strong arguments about being the best.
-
No team in college hockey is hated more than Minnesota. It's very similar to the Yankees in MLB. Everyone hates the best. I enjoy it and look at it as an honor to be the team everyone wants to beat.

Well it's obvious that not one Sioux fan here actually saw the play because none have come out and said they did actually see it. On the other hand you have the majority of these same Sioux fans saying it was dirty and that Lucia would be whining if the roles were reversed. Let me repeat the important point here: Sioux fans are saying that a play was dirty that they never even saw. Therefore, there is no way they can objectively comment on it, end of story.
-
That's because you, like every other Sioux fan, only hears what you want to hear when Lucia speaks. The truth is he doesn't complain any more than the average college hockey coach. You guys are right that this is a Sioux board and you can be as biased as you want but you people are so far from being objective about Lucia it's not even funny. The most ridiculous part about this thread is none of you even saw the play and you're assuming it was dirty. And then you have the nerve to assume you know what Lucia would say if the roles were reversed. Are you all psych majors or something? Goalies get knocked down all the time in hockey and the vast majority of those times it's just a good, aggressive, clean play. Lucia liked the fact that his players stuck up for each other and you people make a federal case about it.
-
I'd say the fan base that starts a thread about him being checked, which is actually a fairly normal occurance in hockey. The first step for you people is to just admit you have a problem. The steps get easier after that and then you'll no longer be forced to live your Kessel obsessed lives. I could even be your sponsor if you'd like.
-
Kessel gets checked and it's headline news over here on Kesselsports.com. Unbelievable.
-
I think "choking" is when you play way below your capability in the big pressure games. For example, the Gophers clearly choked last year versus Holy Cross. It's not fair to Parise to only call him out. In my opinion the entire Sioux defense and Parise choked last year against BC because they played WAY BELOW their capability in the biggest game of the year.
-
We won't hear one Sioux fan admit they were wrong about INCH and their bias against the Sioux even though this completely dispells that myth.

Toews Gets no Love in the CHN Pre-season Rankings.
buckysieve replied to Goon's topic in Men's Hockey
Every time someone writes something you don't like you cry that they ruined the thread. Give me a break, no one is forcing you to respond. If there were no Elliott, Schneider would be the best goalie in the nation HANDS DOWN. And all this whining by UND fans about their team or players getting overlooked in these stupid polls or rankings sounds pathetic. You sound like SCSU fans, and that's not good. You cheer for a premier program which EVERYONE praises as one of the best and it's still not good enough for you. -
You say sabotaging, I say making a harmless joke. Again, lighten up.
-
Wow, you guys need to lighten up just a tad. How many more smiley faces do you need to see that it wasn't meant to be taken so seriously? When someone says "I'll say it right now, mark the date on your calender" it is usually followed by a fairly bold prediction. I just found it funny that's all. You can tell the season is fast approaching when people are this touchy. Yesterday at the Gophers media day, the Don said the Sioux are the league favorites this year. I guess he agree's that the Sioux will "do just fine this year."
-
You really went out on a limb with that one. Not many people have the courage to predict that one of the best programs in the country who is ranked sixth nationally will "do just fine this year." Any more daring predictions?
-
The Gophers finished 11 points ahead of the Sioux last year and have the #1 recruiting class in the nation this year. I don't know who'll be better between the two teams but ranking the Gophers ahead of the Sioux for now makes sense.
-
Ok, fine. You're right, it's a huge conspiracy against UND. INCH clearly hates the Sioux and have never and will never give them any credit for anything. You happy now? Does this whole "INCH hates the Sioux" thing stem from them giving Kessel the ROY award, because the WCHA did the same thing awarding the ROY to Kessel. So now are you gonna tell me that the WCHA has something against UND? Oh wait, I almost forgot, you people say that every year the WCHA awards are given out. I agree that these rankings are pretty meaningless, especially when you consider they had Wheeler ranked ahead of Toews and Oshie last year which was obviously way off. But to claim that a website has something against your program just doesn't make you look very objective.
-
That could be. I'm just saying that every year they do these rankings UND is well represented and usually very high in the overall class category. I rarely even bother with that site with the exception of these rankings so I could be wrong but I just have a hard time believing they have something against UND.
-
Are you serious? INCH has been doing these rankings for the last four years I believe and every year until this year UND has been ranked very high for overall classes and they've always had several players ranked high in the forwards and defensemen categories. INCH has always given UND a fair shake and to suggest otherwise just sounds petty. UND's class isn't ranked that high for one simple reason: This class just isn't as good as the previous classes we're use to seeing UND get.
-
EJ and Okposo will probably be here for just one year(EJ is for sure gone after one, Okposo may be here two), but there are a handful of players in this class that will be here for three or four years. Barribal, Lucia, Carmen, O'Brien, Schack, and Flynn just to name a few. Even Fischer could stay three years considering he's coming straight from high school. It's not a one and done type class like you suggest. A few years ago when UND was ranked number one in these rankings and T. Zajac was first among forwards(as was Brady Murray the year before) I highly doubt you people had the same opinion of INCH and these rankings then as you do now. Look at it this way. This is probably UND's worst class in years(more of a compliment to past classes, not a knock on this one) and it's still #6 in the country. That's pretty impressive.

Since when do "parking cones" get selected to the all WCHA second team as a sophomore?
-
I haven't read the actual scouting reports. But I have read numerous quotes from scouts and NHL executives who said all summer that he's good enough to step into an NHL lineup yesterday. You can't deny that that was the overall opinion of Johnson by NHL general managers. I'm not putting down the Sioux defense at all. They'll be very strong this year no doubt. I'm just saying I'd take Johnson and Goligoski over anyone the Sioux have to offer. And I'm sorry TRIOUXPER that you have a hard time accepting this but Johnson's "dream to play for the U" was a major factor in the decision process that led him to decide to play college for a year.
