  1. When Lucia said he will handle it internally Sioux fans questioned whether or not he actually ever punished them just because the punishments were never made public. More than one Sioux fan on here, TRIOUXPER included, already has said that "nothing" was done to the Gopher players who were caught. But Hakstol says he will handle it internally and THETRIOUXPER has "no doubt" they will be punished. At least you guys have learned how to be objective. Again, I don't think this is a big story and I don't think it warrants game suspensions. Underage college athletes at a bar happens everywhere, it's just a matter of getting caught. But it's funny how Sioux fans have taken the opposite side of the argument they were on last year when it involved Lucia and the Gophers.
  2. Replace WDAZ with FOX9 and this quote sounds exactly like what Gopher fans were saying a year ago. Funny how it was Sioux fans saying they should be suspended multiple games and that Lucia is handling the situation badly by simply saying it will be handled internally. You people were ALL OVER Lucia for his response. Now Hakstol says the EXACT same thing and all of a sudden the moral outrage of Sioux fans no longer exists. Strange how that works isn't it? For the record, I think Hakstol should handle it internally. He shouldn't announce to the public what their punishments will be just like Lucia didn't. I don't believe they deserve any game suspensions because then you're essentially punishing the whole team for the actions of a few.
  3. I'm not sure what prompted that 2nd grade response from PCM. I didn't realize "sight lines" was such a sensitive subject with him.
  4. I'm not saying it's better overall than the Ralph. I'm just saying in regard to the sightlines Mariucci is better. I've never been in an arena that gives you a better view of the ice than Mariucci. The Ralph is much nicer and better in pretty much every other regard but not when it comes to sightlines which some people like myself believe is the most important aspect of an arena.
  5. He lost 2-1 and 1-0. Yeah, he's really starting to crash.
  6. They're both great buildings in different ways. The Ralph is more extravagant with leather seats and marble floors but Mariucci has MUCH better sightlines. Mariucci has ten thousand seats that have a much better view of the ice than the Ralph's best ten thousand seats. That can't even be debated. On the other hand the Ralph has better facilities(locker rooms, weight room, etc.).
  7. It also proves that you ignore facts. ONE player(Nick Anthony) on the '03 title team was recruited by Woog. Eight players(Pohl,Leoplod,Hauser,Wendell,O'Leary, Angell, Anthony, and Welch)on the '02 title team were recruited by Woog. The vast majority of the players that won those titles were brought there by Lucia. Edit: It was nine players in '02. I forgot Taffe.
  8. Under Lucia, the Gophers are 8-2-1 up in Anchoarge. In their last 4 series up there the record is 7-0-1. A couple of years ago Minnesota lost to UAA in the championship game of some tournament. The Gophers have pretty much owned UAA at Sullivan Arena.
  9. This is why some Gopher fans think you people just look petty and pathetic. Your team is playing at your biggest rival and instead of supporting your team by wearing your teams jersey you would wear another teams jersey for the sole purpose of annoying Gopher fans. I can't believe there aren't more Sioux fans who see just how embarrassing that really is. You people are fans of one of the elite programs and you should be proud. I'm sorry, but going to your arch rivals building and choosing to wear the jersey of another team doesn't make you look very proud.
  10. A Sioux fan talking about home ice advantage? Now that's funny. It's not the Gophers who have been swept 6 times in the last year and a half on their home ice.
  11. No they didn't.
  12. Wisconsin has one of the best goalie coaches you'll find anywhere in Bill Howard. I don't think UND even has a goalie coach. And you're right about Oshie, he did break his thumb. It happened during the Maine series.
  13. Regardless of what most Sioux fans on here think, not everyone has to be completely biased when assessing the play of their favorite team. He's one of the few posters here who have demonstrated the ability to be objective about his team and that should be commended, not ridiculed.
  14. So I say the team underachieved and you equate that with saying the freshmen class underachieved. What kind of second grade logic is that? You're really reaching with that one. Any hockey fan who would say that the Sioux freshmen class underachieved last year would be dead wrong which is exactly why I never said it. This discussion has run it's course, especially when you're literally making things up about what I've said.
  15. You just showed a post where I said maybe UND(the team) underachieved during the regular season last year. I never said the freshmen class underachieved, never. They were the best in the nation hands down.
  16. What? I never said anything like that. UND had the best freshmen class in the nation last year IMO. In fact, I don't think another class was even close to them, including the Gophers. When did I ever say they were underachievers?
  17. I've said in at least two different posts that in a couple years it will probably be a good class. But it's certainly not an immediate impact type class like the one last year for the Sioux. Last year the Gophers and Sioux were fairly evenly matched. Both teams lost great talent from early departures. This year the gophers freshmen have 38 goals while the Sioux freshmen have 8. The Gophers haven't missed a beat and the Sioux are struggling. If the Sioux had one of their typical freshmen classes this year I doubt they'd be struggling as much. Three years ago you brought in Brady Murray. Two years ago you brought in Travis Zajac. Last year you brought in Toews, Oshie, and Duncan. This year not one freshmen is having an impact even close to those players and the Sioux are down partly as a result of that. That's why I think it's a down class.
  18. They're not expected to be the MAIN driving force for ANY team. But at elite programs they are expected to contribute more than this one has especially during this time of early departures.
  19. You're right, it does look like a great class and the previous classes have been great. It just proves even more that this was a down year recruiting wise. I'm not sure why some fans on here(PCM) find that to be such an offensive thing to say.
  20. Yeah, cause that's exactly what I said. If you cannot admit that this freshmen class for the Sioux is the weakest that they've brought in in a number of years than you've proven you cannot be objective. Like I've said before that's more of a compliment to previous classes rather than a shot at this one. I'm sure in the next couple years it will turn out to be a good class but as of now the Sioux are not getting a lot of positive contributions from them. Stop looking at your team through green colored glasses for once and stop taking everything I say as an insult towards the Sioux rather than an objective and realistic opinion.
  21. That's the key for any team who loses as much talent as the Sioux and the Gophers lost last year. You need to reload with players who are capable of making an immediate impact and unfortunately for Sioux fans this class is WAY below UND's standards.
  22. I'm positive the Sioux will start to play better, make the final five, and probably the NCAA tourney. I'm also positive that this years team isn't as good as Hakstol's first two teams. That's all I'm saying. Oshie and Toews will get hot eventually and Lamoureux should start playing the way we thought he would coming into the season. But if you take an objective look at this roster compared to last season's you can see that it's not nearly as deep with good forwards. That will make the turnaround tougher this time IMO.
  23. This years team though isn't nearly as talented up front or in the net as last years team. Last year the Sioux had two great lines because of six very good forwards. Stafford, Zajac, Spirko, Oshie, Toews, and Duncan. This year that number has been cut in half with Oshie, Toews, and Duncan being the only forwards on the roster who you would consider to be "very good." And of course the goaltending isn't nearly as strong this year as last. You can't lose the talent the Sioux lost from last years team and follow it up with one of the worst recruiting classes the program has had in a number of years and expect to be as good(that's more of a compliment to past classes rather than a shot at this one). I'm sorry but this Sioux team isn't nearly as talented as the last two teams who also started slowly but ended up making the Frozen Four. Are they better than how they're playing now? Yes. Are they as good as the last two teams who managed to turn things around? No way.
  24. Lighten up, it's just a little late night political venting. I'm a proud liberal, I can't help it. Did I mention that Tony Lucia has more goals than "The Oshie"?
  25. They can't screw up any more than this pathetic president already has. He alone has made us the most hated nation in the the world. I'm absolutely embarrassed he is my president, truly embarrassed. Everything republicans have been saying about the Irag war for the last three years has been proven to be complete bullsh!t. They were wrong and they still can't even admit it with the exception of a few. The Iraq war will go down as the biggest foreign policy blunder in our nation's history and it's 100% Bush's fault. The only person who is worse at his job than Bush is Hakstol and that's saying a lot. I'd be embarrassed to live in a state where Bush wins handily. At least Minnesotans know what's really going on in this country(a republican hasn't won our state since '72 )but then again our state's revenue doesn't depend on the sale of Arctic Cat Jackets. Say hi to Hannity, Coulter, and Limbaugh for me. They rely on states like yours to keep them on the air. And by the way, Toews and Oshie's combined goals(7) is less than half of Okposo's(15). Just thought I'd throw that out there.
