What they're doing in the pros has NOTHING to do with who was better in college(see Tony Hrkac). You could double Zajac's goal total from last year and it still would be four short of what Potulny had. He also had 14 more goals and 16 more points than Stafford did. It's really not even close. Stafford and Zajac are both better professionals right now than Potulny but you have to be deaf, dumb, or blind to think either were as good as him in college.

Lucia benched Hirsch for both games of the NCAA regional. He then played in the Frozen Four which was three weeks after the "incident". If "Lucia thought there was no problem" like you said then why did he bench him for the regional? You have no clue what was really going on with Hirsch so to say Lucia should have been fired is laughable. I guarantee you that Lucia had many conversations with Hirsch, his parents, and his doctors before deciding to let him play in the Frozen Four. It takes a lot of nerve to say that Lucia should have been fired for the way he handled the situation when you truly have no idea what was going on behind the scenes.

PCM, I see you refuse to explain how the "Sioux were superior to the Golden Gophers in every way that mattered" when titles were 2-0 in favor of the Gophers this season huh? Don't worry, I don't blame you. I mean when there's just no way possible to defend such an idiotic comment like the one you made why even try to defend it right?
-
Well then like I said, you need to have your head examined. These programs are about hanging banners and winning titles. The Gophers accomplished that this season while the Sioux did not. If you want to hang your hat on the fact that the Sioux made the semis as opposed to the Gophers just making the quarters then by all means enjoy yourself. Next year at Mariucci we can look up at the rafters and literally see the success of this years team. Can Sioux fans say the same?
-
Please explain to me how the Sioux were superior to the Gophers "in every way that mattered" when the Gophers won two titles this year and the Sioux won ZERO. I mean you're really not that stupid are you? And this post was from one of the supposedly more respectable Sioux posters on this board and it was still the dumbest logic I've ever seen. Unbelievable. I guess expectations have changed in Grand Forks under Hakstol. Titles don't mean anything anymore..... at least not when the Gophers are winning them and the Sioux aren't.
-
If the Sioux had won it all then of course their season would have to be considered better than the gophers, but they didn't win it all. They lost in the semifinals while the Gophers lost in the quarterfinals. Ultimately, what's the difference? The bottom line is that the Gophers hoisted two prestigious trophies this season while the Sioux hoisted ZERO. Any Sioux fan who thinks that making it one game further in the NCAA's trumps winning the MacNaughton AND the Broadmoor needs to have their head examined. Both teams had good seasons but these programs are about winning titles and the Gophers won two titles this year and the Sioux won none. To me, it's pretty obvious who had the better season.
-
That was not a cheap shot. An interference penalty probably, but definitely not a cheap shot. And did it ever occur to you that Minnesota had more power plays because they outplayed the Sioux five on five, therefore drawing more penalties? The shots were 31-15 the last two periods and the Gophers outscored the Sioux 3-0 five on five. They were the better team and usually the better team will draw more penalties.
-
Only a Sioux fan is dumb enough to whine about the refs favoring Minnesota and then follow it up by asserting that Gopher fans are whiners. God you're dumb.
-
Like conspire to show an utter lack of respect to the Sioux by labeling them as NDSU on a stupid poster?
-
It wasn't meant to sound cocky. Trust me, I am not very confident in this team right now. But I will still be shocked if they drop one this weekend.
-
Does anyone know what would happen to Denver if they lose their series this weekend? Would it drop them enough where they would be eliminated?
-
With how things have gone lately I can see why some people think AA will win a game or even the series. But the Gophers are 22-0 at new Mariucci arena in first round playoff games. They even swept the Sioux in the first round('02) which the Gophers rarely do at Mariucci against UND period. They just never lose these games. The Gophers are also 8-0 versus AA the past two years. Add it all up and it equals a sweep with at least one blowout. I think MN, UND, and SCSU all sweep with the other two series going 3 games.
-
Don't you have a free Final Five poster to be whining about? Oh wait, it's March which means it's time to whine about the supposed "home games" for the Gophers at the "X." And of course as this thread has proven, it's always a good time to whine about how the officials favor Minnesota.

Fighting Sioux "Fan Plan" for Final Five Poster Scam
buckysieve replied to BismarckFan's topic in Men's Hockey
I guarantee you that Don Lucia would not care less if this happened to the Gophers. It's a fricken stupid free poster for crying out loud! To think Lucia would give it a second thought is laughable. I think he worries about more important things than that, especially when you consider the NCAA tourney would be days away I doubt he would spend one second thinking about a stupid poster. Speaking of posters, siouxguyinstpaul, you are now the official poster child for "inferiority complex." -
I don't think they would have to tank to not get in. If the Sioux split in Denver and St. Cloud(very possible) and then play Wisconsin in the first round and lose the Sioux would probably be out. Wisconsin is playing well right now and trying to end Elliot's career would not be easy. I think the Sioux will find a way in but it's not as much of a lock as you think it is imo.

I said conference games, not overall. I did make a mistake though. I said Frazee had one less win than Lammy when in fact they both have eight wins. Overall Lammy does have more wins because the gophers goalies split time. AZSIOUX, I feel more confident with Frazee. Briggs has had a great year but he has a horrible playoff record for his career. But Hauser was just as bad in the playoffs for three years before he won it as a senior so it makes me think Briggs can do the same. Also, Weber wasn't anything special either. If the current rotation continues though it would be Frazee in the Final Five title game, the regional final, and the NCAA title game(assuming the gophers play in those games). I think both can win the big one this year but in a big game I do prefer Frazee.
-
The same guy who put team USA on his back in the world juniors and saved the tourney for them two months ago and the same guy who is still UNDEFEATED on the road in his college career.
-
Yeah cause looking at one fluky goal sure is a better way to evaluate goalies as opposed to looking at the entire season.
-
Take a look at the WCHA stats(conference). Frazee and Briggs are BOTH ahead of Lammy in save%, goals against average, and winning percentage. Lammy has played in 18 games compared to Frazee's 9 but only has one more victory. Briggs has played in 3 less games than Lammy yet has one more win. Sorry to let facts rain on your delusional goalie parade. Edit: Briggs and Frazee are BOTH ahead of Lammy in all three of those categories in overall statistics also.
-
It's amazing that any Sioux fan would put down a teams goaltending situation when that team has two goalies better than Lammy, but whatever floats your boat Goon. Say hi to your pal Hannity for me.
-
Frazee was GREAT last night. He stopped 30 of 32 and was the co-player of the game along with Carmen. And how is sweeping CC on the road in the stretch run not impressive? CC is fighting for that coveted third spot(only needed one win this weekend to take over third) so they had a ton to play for. If sweeping CC on the road isn't impressive, then what do you call NOT sweeping two bad teams at home on back to back weekends during the critical stretch run?

When Jeff Jackson was at Lake State they were the last team you wanted to face in the post season. He always got his teams ready for the playoffs. When he left college hockey I think he was the best coach in the nation and he's quickly reaffirmed my opinion with what he's done this year and especially when you look at the recruits he has lined up. Normally in this situation with a team like Notre Dame who doesn't have a lot of post season experience I would overlook them. But because of Jeff Jackson I just can't.

Yes, I'm sure the police do handle things differently in GF than in mpls. My point is that what Bina did is actually a fairly big deal. The police put Toews and Oshie in the back of a cop car for a reason. To say "big friggin deal" about Bina's actions when he directly and purposely interefered with police business is being to easy on Bina, especially when you consider he knew he was on probation at the time. Hakstol has handled this just fine imo. I'm sure the players will be punished and I don't need to know what that will consist of like some in the media apparently want. It's none of my business what they get for punishment. I don't think there's any way Toews and Oshie should miss a game for this. Bina should maybe get one game and that's it.

Are you serious? If you do that with Minneapolis police they would have you on the ground in cuffs faster than you could blink.
