  1. This is why I laugh at people on this board who call him a prima donna. They do it simply because they don't like him and the team he plays for. In actuality he's a quiet, shy, and humble kid.
  2. I believe he was actually drafted early in the second round. I'm not banking on Frazee being awesome next year by any means. I don't trust him yet, on the ice or off. But the talent is there, it's just a matter of him getting his head screwed on straight. Hopefully he learned a lot in his freshmen season. He does have the talent to be one of the nations best goalies, that's all I'm saying. Whether or not that happens is another story.
  3. I expected a response like this. I was just giving my honest opinion of the Sioux's top two lines. I don't think they are nearly as talented as last year and I think most Sioux fans would agree. You can't replace Stafford, Zajac, and Spirko with Forney, Porter, and Kozek on the top two lines and make the argument that you're just as strong up front. That's completely unrealistic. And don't count out the Gophers goaltending just yet. Frazee is easily one of the most talented goalies in the nation, every scout agrees with that. Statistically he had a good freshman season and he could improve drastically as a sophomore. And I'll take your bet in a heartbeat. No way will Duncan get 32 goals next season.
  4. Kozek was very highly regarded so maybe he'll breakout with 15-20 goals and I've heard sioux fans say they think Porter has the ability to step up his scoring. If those things happen then the top two lines look pretty good, but certainly not as good as last years top two lines.
  5. I'll obviously get ripped for this but whatever. Forney, Porter, and Kozek on the top two lines isn't exactly going to strike fear into any opponents. Oshie is one of the best forwards in the country, so you would think that he would get a chance to play with better linemates than Porter and Kozek. These two top lines don't compare with last years IMO. I was just wondering if there are any Sioux fans who see what I see when I look at this group of forwards. The top end talent is there with Oshie, Toews, and Duncan but after that it seems like there is a major drop off. Last year the Sioux had six forwards on the top two lines who could score consistently and this year it seems like that numkber is down to three unless a frosh has a great scoring year, which with this group I don't think is very likely. There is definitely no Oshie or Toews and probably not even a Duncan in this class. It's a good thing the Sioux have a great group of D-men because I don't see this team scoring like past Sioux teams.
  6. Well said. Thank you.
  7. How am I trolling? I gave an opinion about a blogger and Chucky ripped me for no reason. Why don't you say something to him? You guys are so backwards.
  8. Whatever you say Chuck. Or should I say bucky9.
  9. I actually haven't read a whole lot of his stuff, but what I have read has been pretty well done. I'm not saying he's a hack. Maybe he is well connected, who knows. I'm just going by what I heard. I do disagree strongly with him about Kessel being selfish. He couldn't be more wrong about that. Even Lucia said recently that Phil was almost to unselfish at times this year with passing the puck. It wasn't a fluke that Gordon had a breakout year playing on the same line as Kessel and Potulny scoring 38 goals playing with him on the pp. Kessel makes other players around him better.
  10. I just went to GPL and saw the post by Hammy you're referring to. He obviously heard the same thing I did. Is it that shocking that more than one person would have the same info?
  11. What?
  12. A knowledgeable poster? It's my understanding that he's a teenage goalie from Wisconsin who's not taken very seriously at all.
  13. Actions speak louder than words and the fact that Sioux fans, more than just a few by the way, are spending this amount of money on a Holy Cross jersey just to annoy their rival fans speaks volumes. It's really one of the strangest and most petty things I've seen from a fanbase of a proud program. Face it, Sioux fans are obsessed with the Gopher hockey program and buying these jerseys is concrete proof of that.
  14. Oshie was also worthy of the award like I've said many times before. But Kessel was the highest scoring frosh in the land and he had to deal with the most pressure put on any freshmen in the history of college hockey. He handled it all very well, on and off the ice.
  15. What you just wrote about Parise is absolutely hilarious. Please tell me you really don't think that rules were changed because of him because if you do you are more delusional than I previously thought. As far as ROY goes I must be stupid like you say because I think the right player won that award. Kessel was the best freshmen in the nation last year bar none.
  16. Oops. I fixed the spelling error. As far as Parise goes yes he's gone. He will definitely get an offer and he'd be crazy to turn it down.
  17. The Gophers have a national title banner from 1940 hanging in Mariucci and I'm glad it's there. Just because it was pre-ncaa doesn't mean it's not something to look back on with a lot of pride. Nobody counts it as an NCAA title and nobody should, but it still is a national championship and that can't be argued. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that the titles are 7-6 or even 7-7 if you count the gophers earlier title around 1920. I'm just saying that it is frustrating as a Gopher fan to know that Michigan won it in 1948 and it counts but Minnesota wins it in 1940 and it doesn't count.
  18. I have no problem believing teams are interested in him. He's one of the best goalies in the NCAA who finished his junior year and he's 23 years old. He's an unrestricted free agent so of course he'll get a lot of attention from numerous teams. I've assumed he was leaving for months now.
  19. You're the one who needs to get a life. TMK was privy to some information that he or she thought most Sioux fans would be interested in so he/she posted it. Instead of getting mad because you're too juvenile too accept information that you don't really want to hear, you should thank that poster for trying to give fellow Sioux fans some important info. Siouxnami, prpichrocks_19, and RMS, the same goes for you. Why get mad at someone for posting something they heard from a pretty reliable source? Accept it or not, but don't get mad at the poster who is simply trying to give you information about your favorite team.
  20. Some of the best programs in college hockey wanted him. There has to be a reason for that. I've never seen him play but he is pretty highly regarded by some great college coaches and pro scouts.
  21. The sky must be falling because I've agreed with most of your posts in this thread also.
  22. Boston College in 2000 I believe(maybe 2001) had three of the final ten Hobey finalists. They were Mottau, Gionta, and Farkas. It hasn't happened since and I doubt it will ever happen again no matter what kind of years Stafford, Oshie and Toews have. In '02 the Gophers should have had three finalists but only had one. Pohl led the nation in scoring while Taffe was fifth in the nation in points and third in goals, but neither were among the final ten. Even if Stafford did come back, which will NEVER happen, I think Oshie and Toews are stronger hobey candidates anyway.
  23. Kinda sucks when you show your inferiority complex with your obsession with the Gopher hockey program. DaveK is exactly right. You people need help. ALL you talk about, and I mean ALL you talk about is your hatred towards Minnesota. I've never seen a more obsessed fan base in my life. Normally this type of inferiority complex is reserved for fans of SCSU or UMD, not UND. Here's a thought. Make an effort to enjoy your own team winning more than you enjoy seeing your rival losing. It might be a tough adjustment at first, but if you stick with it you might actually start to enjoy it. I know it stings a little that the Sioux aren't even worthy of being the Gophers #1 rival but you have to get over it and move on.
  24. I agree with most of what you say but it seemed to me that he really made an effort in his post to show he wasn't just a troll looking for bait. He said he didn't want that to be his first post, that Spirko is one of his favorite players so this news sucks for him also, and he added that he's been going to UND games since 1979. I got the impression that he was a loyal Sioux fan who came across some info that he thought you people would be interested in, so he registered and posted it.
