  1. This coming from someone who's teams coach has had four chances with great teams filled with NHL draft picks and he still couldn't get it done. To just blow off Lucia's accomplishment of winning back to back by saying anyone could have won it with those teams is just plain stupid.
  2. All this talk by Sioux fans about the Gopher program imploding the last few years is just wishful thinking and nothing more. A program that's imploding doesn't win two Macnaughton Cups and a Broadmoor trophy, which by the way is three more banners than the Sioux have won in that time. The Frozen Four is great great but the only thing those appearances have resulted in is Hakstol becoming known as the new "Woog."
  3. That's not true. I believe Holy Cross was around 18 or 19 in the pairwise. They weren't that far from getting an at large bid. When Michigan Tech won in Madison the Badgers were #1 and tech was somewhere in the 40's. On paper that was a much bigger upset, although because of the circumstances I can see why the Holy Cross game is considered to be bigger.
  4. If you had only lost to them once it wouldn't be funny. But three years in a row IS hilarious. In fact I bet a Sioux fan right now gets much more upset when hearing the words Boston College than a Gopher fan does when hearing Holy Cross.
  5. I thought I've seen him listed higher somewhere but I must be thinking of somone else. Nevermind.
  6. Toews is listed at #79 in the central scouting rankings. Did he drop? I thought he was projected as a late first rounder.
  7. Wow , you could not be more wrong on this one. I know why he left and he could have stayed at the U as long as he wanted too, trust me.
  8. If Blais can go 16-19-2('02) then so can Hakstol. That same year BC had a down year and missed the NCAA's and obviously the Gophers had a down year this year finishing seventh. It can happen to the best of programs.
  9. I think it was more of a compliment to Michigan regarding their depth as opposed to minimizing the importance of Porter. Porter is the favorite because he's been the best player on the best team from day one IMO.
  10. Yeah I forgot about Trotter but wasn't Rakshani on the ice this past weekend? Not quite the same as Stoa. I'm just saying the Gophers have had their fair share of bad luck this season.
  11. He's not making excuses, just stating fact. The Gophers got a combined 13 points from Stoa and Okposo this year when they were expecting about 80 points between the two. Stoa played in less than two games and was a first line team captain. Most teams haven't had to deal with that this year and NO teams have had to deal with losing another first liner to an early departure mid-season.
  12. A Sioux fan with a pro UND sign instead of an anti Gopher sign? That would be a first.
  13. You think Sioux fans are any different in this regard? The first half of last season the entire Sioux fan base was on suicide watch.
  14. I know what you mean. Something just doesn't feel right about a seventh place team who is one game above .500 making the NCAA tourney. As a Gopher fan who's watched this team all year, I really don't think they've earned a trip to the NCAA's.
  15. If the Gophers lose this weekend their season will almost definitely be over.
  16. 1998, lost to UMD in Duluth after blowing a four goal third period lead in game 3.
  17. I don't think UND had a better season than Minnesota last year just because they made it one game further. When the ultimate prize is the national title, losing in the quarter finals or losing in the semi finals just doesn't matter. The Gophers still hoisted two trophies last year. And why is it that Sioux fans are so proud of making the last three frozen fours and losing them all when that's the exact same thing they were critical of the Gophers and Woog of doing in the 80's and 90's?
  18. To say there is no "other side" and that they "have not a single point that is valid" is closed minded IMO. It reinforces the notion that Sioux fans who are against the name change are being insensitive. I realize there are many Sioux fans who are sensitive to how the tribes feel but DamStrait doesn't seem to be one of them.
  19. So you're saying that native americans who oppose a school using them as mascots don't have a valid point? I used to be on UND's side when it came to changing the name but after years of hearing countless Sioux fans like yourself simply shrugging off the opinions of the very group of people you're offending by using them as mascots without their permission has made me change my mind. You don't have the right to use them as mascots when you won't even listen to what they have to say.
  20. I was really impressed with Genoway's skating at mariucci a couple weeks ago. If I'm Hakstol I would keep him on the blue line. Defensemen who can rush the puck like that are fun to watch and extremely valuable.
  21. I've heard most people compare him to Crowley. He's expected to go in the first round. He's a 5'10" 165 pound defenseman so to be drafted that high it shows he has serious offensive skill.
