  1. All three are deserving, I won't have a problem with whoever wins it.
  2. Armbrust scored in overtime against the Gophers to win 4-3.
  3. Kangas gave up 3 goals that game not 6, and only one was soft.
  4. Kangas is a playoff goalie, I'll take him over Eidsness in a heartbeat.
  5. I think the main reason the Gophers perform poorly in the third place game is because it's tough to come back the next afternoon after playing the night before. I'm not so sure it's about Lucia's mentality as much as others think. I'd love to see the WCHA get rid of the third place game. A team who is already in the NCAA tourney shouldn't have to risk injury to their best players just to claim third place a week before the most important part of the season.
  6. They're not Gopher lovers, they're money lovers. If the Final Five was held in Madison the same rule would apply to the Badgers always playing Friday night. It has nothing to do with Minnesota, it's about money.
  7. Please tell me you're kidding.
  8. I agree, based on how the Gophers have played there's no reason to think they'll make a run. But playoffs are a strange animal. Sometimes a team sleepwalks through a season and the playoffs begin and all of a sudden they look like a different team. There's three reasons I give the Gophers any chance at all if they make it. Home ice in the regional, a goalie who has a history of getting hot in the playoffs(not just last year but both years in the USHL), and a top line that is as good as any in the country.
  9. If the Gophers get in they are a threat because of home ice in the regional. Once a team gets in anything can happen. Kangas is as capable of getting hot as any goalie in the country. I'm sure nobody thought Notre Dame was a threat last yeat as a 4 seed but they beat the #1 seed on their home ice and then took out the defending champions on their way to the title game. They made it to the FF without home ice, an advantage the Gophers would have if they make it. Not predicting a big run but I wouldn't count out the Gophers yet.
  10. First of all, you should want to be objective regardless of who your audience is. Second, your inferiority complex runs much deeper than I thought. And third, it's been one down year, not three. This season has been down so far but it's not over.
  11. So when a former Gopher does well in the NHL it's in spite of Lucia's coaching? You are so biased sometimes it's embarrassing. You're the equivelent of Sean Hannity. Just like he is completely incapable of being objective about the left, you are just as incapable of being objective about the Gophers. Wheeler had a very productive three years at the U. Maybe not what you would expect of a fifth overall draft pick but Lucia can't control where he was drafted. The bottom line is that the three years Wheeler spent at the U clearly served him well as he is now thriving as a rookie in the NHL. You making this claim is no different than me saying Drew Stafford blossomed in spite of Blais and Hakstol. It just makes no sense.
  12. I don't like our chances either. You'd have to be nuts to think the Gophers will get 7 or 8 points the next two weekends to gain home ice but it's not impossible either.
  13. Everyone is assuming the Gophers will be on the road in the first round. If they sweep this weekend, which I know is a huge if, but if that happens they will pass Duluth and they should pass St. Cloud as they are at Denver and then they would be in fifth. I'm certainly not predicting a sweep but stranger things have happened.
  14. Game winning goals is a stupid stat, it can be very misleading. A player scores a goal in the second period to go up 4-1, his team ends up wining 4-3 and he gets credit for the game winning goal.
  15. Stoa leads the league in scoring and should be on the first team.
  16. Did you see the penalty call? It wasn't even close to checking from behind. And mocking a ref by applauding a bad call is NOT "just as immature" as flipping off a ref like you say.
  17. I didn't watch the game on TV, I was there but if Woog said that's what it looked like then I can see why nodak hockey fanatic said that. At the game it seemed obvious he was just sarcastically applauding the call by Anderson.
  18. You actually thought he was openly mocking Jutting when it was obvious he was mocking Anderson? Wow you really see want you want to see. Unbeleivable.
  19. All he said was that alcohol changes the behavior of the fans for the worst which is true. I still don't think it's a major problem that needs to be addressed but to claim he's in panic mode or that the Gopher ship is sinking based on these comments is just delusional wishful thinking by Sioux fans. Also which is worse? Complaining about arena's serving alcohol or flipping off a ref?
  20. You mean kind of like how Prpich would rather spear Paukovich in the groin rather than stand up to him face to face?
  21. Well that could mean we're just dumb, not necessarily cheap.
  22. He had some bad things to say about Barriball as well. My point wasn't to claim that even the refs think UND is cheap. He was critical of both teams. Say what you want about refs but they are more objective about certain teams than the die hard fans of those teams.
