  1. And now it's 5-3 Terriers. Shades of the 1997 Championship game. Natural hatty for Jason Lawrence.
  2. bu closes to within 3-2 on another PPG. And now they tie it up at 3. 2:30 left in the 2nd
  3. 3-0 UMass a minute into the 2nd. BU looks lethargic and UMass really buzzing
  4. Another missed opportunity is Canada. And this is where the lack of leadership in the WCHA Commissioners office is so obvious. Hockey East now has a TV deal with Rogers Sportsnet putting games on in Atlantic Canada. UND should look to do something similar with the Sportsnet branch that serves Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. This would be a huge recruiting coup, as Canadian players could be watched by their friends and families. If Denver, CC, UND and UAA partnered to create a weekly package you might be able to get both Sportsnet West and Sportsnet Pacific to pick it up.
  5. It makes a ton of sense. I'd love to see FSSN do a deal with the YES network for UND hockey. The gold standard college hockey program aligning with the gold standard of pro sports. It would be a perfect complement since the hockey and baseball seasons mirror almost perfectly. Even if they only got $1 and a few ad spots a game, the coverage alone would absolutely be worth it. REA could even align with that food service deal that the Cowboys and Yankees have put together. Why not bring together the finest hockey, football and baseball facilities on the planet.
  6. A lot still depends on whether Dartmouth can regain TUC status. If they don't then it's highly likely that none of Cornell (at least against UND), Yale or Princeton will make the 10 game TUC requirement and that category will get thrown out of the comparisons. In that case, those comparisons will essentially be RPI only. Yale losing to Princeton was better, because the Princeton comparison is still flippable, but a Yale win would have made the Yale-UND comparison almost impossible to flip, especially if Dartmouth is a TUC. While UND did not appear to move up a great deal, when you look at the RPIs now, the Sioux could make up a great deal of ground with a sweep of CC and just a little help. Remember that this is the last weekend for the top CCHA and ECAC clubs, and they will be off when UND travels to Madison. Should the Sioux win their last four games, a move up to even 5 is possible. Teams to root for next weekend Michigan State - (2 vs Notre Dame), will help RPI and help Sioux in COP comparison with Irish Air Force - (2 vs RIT) sweep would knock RIT from TUC status, allowing Dartmouth or Mankato to potentially move up. Boston U - (2 vs UMass) will knock UMass from TUC status, doubly beneficial Ohio State/Miami - split will keep either from gaining ground in RPI Harvard - win vs. Princeton will help UND in COP comparison with Tigers Cornell - win vs Yale will help UND in COP comparison with Bulldogs. UND should pass Cornell in RPI with sweep of CC, since win over Brown would be thrown out for RPI purposes. Merrimack - even if UNH sweeps them, UND can possibly pass them in RPI with sweep of CC St. Cloud - besides helping to give some breathing room in the league standings. A DU loss along with sweep of CC will flip COP and overall comparison to UND.
  7. lucky for you. All I get is buffering and pixellation. Same thing last night. Worst webcast I've experience. Makes me long for dataflix.
  8. BC kills off a penalty, then a minute later scores to cut UNH lead to 3-2 3:00 left in the 2nd
  9. BC scores, still down 3-1 to UNH 8:45 to go in 2nd
  10. UNH getting a brief 5-3 against BC leading 2-0 15:30 to go in 2nd. update .. PPG 3-0 UNH
  11. I too was thinking slew foot, but I don't recall ever seeing that called in a college game. And you are right that it is an extremely dangerous play, anywhere on the ice. It puts the victimized player in a position to slam the back of their head on the ice with not opportunity to catch themselves or regain balance. But to expect such a call from a WCHA crew right now is probably a bit much. I also wouldn't mind seeing a league or NCAA rule mandating a game DQ for any major penalty in the final five minutes of a game. That might end garbage like occurred at the end of the game or last week in Duluth.
  12. Games next week with important pairwise ramifications for the Sioux. Obviously UND wins are the most important factor, and followed by losses by teams ahead of the Sioux. But here is what appear to be optimum results. WCHA Action Denver at Wisconsin
  13. Yep, he's tearing the commish a new one. Well deserved.
  14. Huntsville is almost due south of Marquette, with Huntsville actually in the central time zone. And as for the "history" of NMU in the WCHA - they were in the league for 13 years. Yes they won an NCAA title in 1991, but they also had a lot of second division finishes and their last several season were as cellar dwellars with Tech and UAA. It would also be the third time they have departed a league in 25 years. Not exactly a bastion of stability.
  15. I don't get all the hating on UAH. Yes, they've been down the last two years, but gave as legit a performance in NCAAs as Bemidji has done. They also had a couple of near 20 win seasons in the recent past, while facing heavily slanted road schedules and getting none of the benefit of scheduling help from local teams like Bemidji has. I think if UAH got into the WCHA and finally had a fairly stable schedule they would be able to recruit better and could easily reach the second tier of the conference. They also provide for wider media exposure of the league and provide an opportunity for sun belt/snow bird alums a short road trip to see their team.
  16. Power play is reverting to it's early season weak form. Come on Sioux!
  17. I grew up in that area and always liked Minot. Lots of memories of Dakota Square (the aforementioned mall). There are several good golf courses in town and more in the nearby communities. You are only 45 minutes from Lake Sakakawea and some of the best fishing on the planet. In addition to the state fair in the summer, there is the Norsk Hostfest, a large Scandinavian cultural festival. You are also only about 90 minutes from skiing at Bottineau Winter Park (no it's not the Alps, but something to do outdoors when it isn't too cold). Depending on where you are coming from housing prices will also be much lower than you are used to. This is even more so if you choose to live in a smaller community and commute to Minot. Anywhere with 50 miles is still a reasonable commute as traffic doesn't exist and you are travelling on four lane highways from the east, west and south. North Dakota is a great place to live. Don't let people freak you out about the weather, you CAN get used to it. And on the excessively cold days just make sure you've got some movies or a game to watch and you can get through it.
  18. I think "little buddy" is the perfect phrase as these days they really resemble the Skipper and Gilligan. Long live K-Dog and Gretzky, probably the most loyal Sioux fans there are.
  19. Ghost Dance, anyone. No way Ghost Riders will fly.
  20. Liberty and Old Dominion are both available for multiple dates. ODU is a brand new program, but there would be a shread of name recognition with them. A home and home wouldn't be a terrible idea, as the Norfolk-Hampton Roads area is a pretty fertile recruiting ground. Liberty has a pretty strong women's basketball program, so perhaps you package a football game with a hoops home and home as well.
