  1. I don't think there's been much change. Bc and BU have always gotten big eastern players and with ntdp in their backyard Michigan has gotten big names as have Minnesota and Wisconsin. If there was a flow of guys to Penn St Merrimack or Vermont I'd agree we were seeing a shift, but UND and DU are still getting big names with other NCHC pulling an occasional blue chip. Will be interesting to see how ASU recruiting differs with then now in the conference.
  2. Attendance and fan interest is also far superior in the NCHC. It also a much deeper league, where there are fewer easy wins. Hockey East also benefits from more non con games against Atlantic Hockey where you can pad the stat sheet. The NCHC is very much an "iron sharpens iron" league.
  3. If you want vibes and history, Hobey Baker rink at Princeton was top notch, same with Matthews Arena in Boston, but that's falling to the wrecking ball soon. Yost is OK, but nothing special hockey wise, kind of like if you retrofitted a hockey rink into the Hyslop. I was pretty underwhelmed. Cornell is solid, BU, BC and Harvard rinks are pretty non-descript. A couple trips I'd like to do are SLU-Clarkson, Maine, and Michigan Tech. Tech's resurgence makes that seem like it could be a fun one. An early October series would be a great time to see the fall colors in the UP as well.
  4. There are definitely things to take from this game that can be learned from. I'm excited about the new OC, with time I think he can make some things happen. I don't know how we struggle so much with kickers when we play indoors and should be able to recruit better there. For years, that was a constant UND strength. Defense has to make some plays, and can't expect we will have lopsided TOP every game.
  5. Conversely that doesn't say a lot about about the recruiting of those guys and developing them. Maybe the HS QBs that are coaches kids are higher floor lower ceiling than another kid with a similar talent level who is more raw but has a lot more room for growth.
  6. Wish we'd taken the last TO and at least thrown one into the end zone on 4th. Not much risk in that.
  7. Gotta balance this game versus the whole season. I'm all for aggressive, but after a 12 minute drive you can't walk away with nothing demoralizing for the offense. Think the FG there was right call.
  8. I like it. Shows confidence that you think you get get back there.
  9. Fruechte taking what they're giving us. Like this offense. Potential to really wear down FCS defenses.
  10. Running the route past the first down marker. That's an improvement over last year.
  11. Football IQ, game management, scrambling, reading the defense? A little early to throw him under the bus after 2 possessions.
  12. Not sure I get the punt there. The call or the actual kick. That has to ho to the sideline
  13. Not the optimal start. Luckily game is more than 38 seconds long.
  14. Different site, but good info. Thanks!
  15. Did Northdakotapreps.com go belly up? I used to frequent the site for updates on high school sports. Was going to check out for this fall and just get a godaddy site. Anyone know of any similar places to get the scoop. I know KMAV has good content at least for ND HS basketball.
  16. I love Bo, but he's not Travis Hunter. 12 has lit up the SU secondary like a Christmas tree.
  17. I don't have much interest in the CCHA, mostly because the games all overlap timewise and I'm going to pick an NCHC game every time (generally UND of course). About the only benefit would be when UND is playing a non conference game against a CCHA school, which to be honest I really hope doesn't happen too often outside of maybe Michigan Tech. I agree that the sweet spot is when NCHC TV can be folded in. $129 for the CCHA package seems a little steep, espcially when compared to the quantity of Summit League network plus Mo Valley football, 79 yearly for that is a pretty solid value.
  18. Don't you have to earn playing time?
  19. House of cards. The Big XFL will probably start pruning the dead wood soon. College sports are on life support.
  20. I doubt you see many non power 4 teams that aren't required to adding the schollies. That means that also have to commit to the revenue sharing with the players, except for the non power 4 there is no revenue to share. So this was a thinly veiled way to again tilt the playing field further toward the haves and put the have nots under their bootheels. At this rate the NCAA will be gone in less than a decade and college sports outside the power 4 will be an abyss. At this point sports are probably a money pit for the vast majority of schools, with little to show for it. Pretty sad.
  21. Wonder how they can work that from a Title IX perspective, add 40+ for men and 19 for women, unless there are additions in other sports. More likely this will result in more schools dropping Olympic sports to support their fall XFL teams.
  22. I just wish Brad would say what former UND guys have been offered, as there is no other reason for him to spend the time on this story.
  23. If the Summit can keep improving and the Missouri Valley keeps losing name schools, might even be able to replace Arch Madness on the Eye itself.
  24. Thus opens up a huge can of worms. Sane should they apply to band cheerleaders etc in the sporting realm but also teaching assistants and other positions doing actual work in support of the school academic mission. At some point I think you will see regular students start pushing back on this. They are paying for this stuff and student loans are at least partially attributable to sports costs.
