2025-26 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
nodakvindy replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
Is Denver was a 4 seed id agree, but not for a second round possible match-up. -
Very much like this format, but id cut it down to 3 days but 4 ticket sessions Friday Region 1 semis Saturday Region 2 semis Sunday both regional finals I'd also do it like basketball where each region is a pod, so that the two regions decided at the site dont necessarily have to meet at the Frozen Four. So it's just any two regions, not half the bracket. You'd have a ton of NHL and AHL arenas that could host.

3 on 3 is trash. Doesn't ever happen in a game situation. Shootout is better. For Olympics I'd say go one 10 minute sudden death for the early elimination rounds and theb a Shootout. For gold medal game do a 20 minute sudden death before a Shootout.

I say go to a college football style approach. Give each team a power play. Still tied go to 1 minute pp. Any shortie automatically wins. .

A sweep of western would go a long way in narrowing that gap.

Big Sky is in no danger of collapse or losing autobid. It's important to remember that the CFP is not run by the NCAA. The Big school can do what they want and pretty much box out the G6 because they bring little financially. Im not certain that the G6 will get a playoff. Who would bankroll it? ESPN already has the CFP and I dont know that there is anyone clamoring to spend hundreds of millions to show a G6 playoff. The NCAA could run one but im not sure they wouldn't just force them to merge with FCS and just expand to 32 teams. That seems more plausible than 3 levels of D1 football.

Does open up a 2nd tv window for MACtion, and that's all college football really is, tv inventory.

Pulling hard for CC next week. Want a full clinch next weekend and lock up that 1 seed and home ice throughout.
-
Gutty comeback again.

MAC and MVC aren't big schools. There is no profit.

Losing this one is OK. Rope a dope for Sioux Falls.

Seems like anytime something is on cbs sports we get screwed by an OT.

I hope UND can resist the urge to follow them off the cliff. Unfortunately the obsession some have with NDSU is considerable.

Kick out Summit League members if they go 1a in football
nodakvindy replied to SIOUXFAN97's topic in Other Sports
No need to kick them out, but the remaining schools should vote in a 50 million dollar exit fee on July 2. -
UNLV, likely. Air Force maybe, the lobos, Doubtful

Agree, we need to get basketball to a competitive level. It's been neglected far too long.
-
Wisconsin came to D1 late and their arrival came during the mediocre Bjorkman years, so some of their best years came when UND was down, so they were able to build some cushion and UND has seen them less frequently during this down period. I would say Duluth's titles and hobey baker winners put them in the discussion as well. Having a hall of famer in Brett Hull doesn't hurt.
-
UNLV and air Force won't leave until 2032 when they've gotten all of their money fron the exit fee slush fund.
-
Would assume conference schedule gets redone so that shouldn't be an issue.
-
Uaa and Alaska tied at 2. Free stream on youtube pretty solid.
-
No ones competing at that level. Thinking FCS schools will waltz into the CFP is a pipe dream. James Madison won a Sun Belt full of fairly recent move ups, it's not like they were competing in an established conference. They are also charging every single student 2300 a year for athletics. Not sure that is sustainable.

UND should not go FBS in the current environment. It would be a colossal waste of resources.
