WR: walker, Reed and S Carr will be wild card role players if they get/stay healthy and stay on the team. I'm curious about Toivonnen coming in and whether he can contribute Hoping soft verbal recruit Cloyd sticks with us. I see him as a Kyle Ruhe type with may be even more upside. OL: I was hoping to have a bit more depth on the line going into spring ball so we could go all out by the spring game with two full squads . Looks like we'll have one reserve this spring, barring no departures and no second semester additions. Losing Mertz didn't help.

I'm trying hard to ignor Griz fans, too, this week. I really want to root for them on Saturday as a member of the BSC, but after seeing a sampling of their trolls on Facebook, degrading the rest of the BSC, especially SUU and PSU, it's making it really difficult to like them. They come off as entitled and arrogant as the trash that spills over here (save for Bison73 and the like). READERS DIGEST VERSION: Griz trolls saw nothing wrong with the noncalled PI against SUU; just part of the game unless "it's against us." And It seems the Griz would have destroyed everyone in its path were it not for injuries to their top QBs. --Doesn't everyone have that injury argument? Pathetic. Oh well, Go Griz! Go Big Sky!

Yeah, maybe in hindsight....but I was at pretty much every fall camp practice this year heading into the Wyoming game and I read everything I could from as many sources as possible on UND football (yes, including the stuff from we geniuses here on SiouxSports ) and I didn't think it was really clear who they were going with until game week of the Wyoming game. I think Studs, Ryan and Joe would have said the same back in August.

actually, height has always been the knock on Ratelle, not speed. He's got plenty of speed.
-
Rhetorical question alert: How big is it going into next year with little to no question at starting QB? It's been a while.
-
Cookus for NAU had a phenomenal year as well. Not that surprised. Hell, the two might even share national freshmen of the year honors. They're that good!
-
To add insult to injury. At the ISU home game, I was watching from the north end looking down at the DB nudging Santiago before the ball arrived from Bartles. Clearly a PI but to no avail. It would have given us four more shots to win the game. Refs miss calls. Should not have put it their hands. Coulda, woulda, shoulda... I know... but to be one quarter away from a playoff berth is just maddening. Oh well, fuel for next year.

Also, co-freshmen of year goes to John "So long" Santiago! Amazing that Will Rattelle had more solo tackles (63) than the Big Sky Defensive Player of the year Cowser of SUU had total tackles (62). Area 51, you will be greatly missed!

I know that. Still a transition anda bit of unknown.

Taubs was just coming off offseason leg surgery. He'll regain his strength by next year. Point is Kicker and punter is an asset not a liability moving forward.

Thanks! I can only go by what our Wiki says.... I thought it was more up to date.

Is Dakota Miller our prized recruiting target at QB? He's a bit smallish in stature but rated 3 star presumably for a reason. His Hudl show he can run and throw, and might be a good fit in Bubba's scheme. He could red shirt and play backup in 2017 and be ready to go for '18. EDIT: I see he has an offer from NAU, too. Miller might not want to back up Cooksus for as long as he'll be around in Flagstaff.

I'm pretty sure Stoney Brook game is in New York, not Alerus Center.
-
Crandall was fouled on that drive but, hey, gotta finish.... FGCU has for the most part.

This tournament if for the birds -- Hawks, Eagles, Falcons and Penguins!??

very nice post! I would add the Irishman from Ilinois: O'brien -- to the bright spots for the line backing corps.
-
USD legend Joe Glenn announces his retirement following a drubbing at Illinois State. We play USD first home game next year. Hope this makes TE Cloyd's verbal more solid in that he might not want to de-commit for a program that will be in transition.
-
My guess at the starting line up at Stoney Brook next year: Offense: Stockwell, Miller, Aplin, Cox, Grady, Fiedler, Seibel or Georges, Stanley Studsrud Coyne Santiago Defense: Greely, Cielsak, Dranka Labat, Rich, O'Brien, Disterhaupt T. Carter, Reyes, Arnell, T. Harris

It will be nice to be able to focus on fewer position groups this offseason when it comes to recruiting HS, JUCO ands FBS drop downs. SECONDARY, SECONDARY, SECONDARY! -- and hope to get a healthy Arnell back with maybe a medical red shirt, if possible.

Please no offseason defections!
