  1. Exactly. He and Schmidt get the pass because of their deep ties to the program and past D2 successes. Whereas Rudy is the interloper here and is easier to dismiss as an outsider and square peg in a round hole. I say everything needs to be reviewed but in the context that, excuses or not, injuries were ravenous toward this team this year .... and next year could see a marked improvement if even it’s just the injury situation that improves. Can’t throw the baby out with the bath water but definitely need to find a way to drain all the damn dirty water.
  2. I think you and some others may be failing to grasp what “they” are saying. Rudy = scapegoat. The problems of this team right now are mammoth and bigger than one guy. Rudy is part of a larger problem. You get rid of him and leave the other issues unmitigated, you’re going to get very little, if any, improvement. “They” are saying it’s more than one person, and fixating on only one part of the problem is no more helpful than whistling past the graveyard. How’s that for tough love? Sorry to highjack this thread. I know there’s a better place for this.
  3. I see what you did there.
  4. Haven't you heard, Homer?? It's cool to be a tough-love hard a$$ for your team instead of just a mere devoted fan -- even though both want the same thing for our team in the end. Just differ on how to express our frustrations publicly or even pseudo publicly.
  5. I think they look awesome because they are my favorite team!
  6. I have and do, save for Coach Agnew. Have not met him yet. All very good people who understand the rabid and mercurial nature of sports fandom. One day you're king of the court; the next you're the jester being carted off to the Pit of Despair.... Dilly, Dilly!
  7. As I recall, those three losses were more attributable to our depleted and non-sound tackling defense, which got shredded by fast read-option QBs, for the most part. There’s blame to go all around here on both sides of the ball, plus special teams. If Bubba is going to consider changes: then Schmitty and Kostich should be under review just as much as Rudy. Personally, I think this year was an anomaly year with injuries and a few bad apples not buying in to the program culture. Reset. Hit it hard next year and see if we don’t rebound. If after that we are still languishing, make the proper adjustments at the top.
  8. True. There is a middle ground — but what fun is that, amirite? Off with their heads!
  9. Both in the coaches’ dog house ALOT for lack of effort and general don’t-give-a-rip attitude on the practice field. Big misses, especially the former, IMHO.
  10. Agreed. Thought SU might get stomped last night against #10 USC, then they go and have it tied up at half and end up losing by only 10.
  11. Yeah, noticed that too. That was coming from the color guy (you know usually some retired former coach or player whose pre-game research usually comprises reading the last box score in the paper). He kept calling us "North Carolina" too. I think he was conflating us at times with Arkansas PB, which has Golden Lions as a nickname. Oh welp. On to the Nebraska Jay Huskers,,,,.... or is it Wild Hawks or maybe its Corn Clones... whatever!
  12. Free throws always a bugaboo for this program. Dang! Way to Fight, Hawks! Come home 2-1 and reset from there. We lost by bigger margins to lesser teams last year, and still made it to the dance.

    Game Day at PSU

I’m curious about the kicking game, too. Leach didn’t exactly instill a lot of confidence in me during fall camp. And what’s the punting situation after this year? Kicking is sometime overlooked until you need it.
  16. Wish he would have got that 50/50 ball in the middle of the field. That jump was just mistimed. At least, he didn't get inured on the play like Tyus did last year against USD.
  17. I gave up and switched to my laptop... no interruptions at all.
  18. UND. taking care of business handily against EWU, up 2 sets to nil. 25-15 and 25-12. A lot of freshmen and bench players getting some valuable minutes today.
  19. What is the logical reason to require the waiting period in some sports and not others? It would seem that the NCAA should look at Student-Athletes equally and treat them equally ... like they did with programs and their application of the hostile and abusive nickname policy (so purple).
  20. Try this.... if you dare. Not looking great. http://stats.statbroadcast.com/statmonitr/?id=187883
  21. I recall a 2001 tough close loss to Nebraska Omaha at the Alerus before over 12,500 fans in attendance.
