  1. RMU offensive line averages 6-3, 288#, but they have a couple of monsters in their two-deep: A LT at 6-5, 315 and a freshman RT at a whopping 6-7, 355. By comparison UND's starting line averages: 6-3.5, 302#
  2. Lexi has got to be a favorite for MVP of this tourney, so far.
  3. + Mollberg looked poised in the pocket and stepped up to make his last second reads and then delivered pretty good strikes. Mollberg is a running threat. Simmons showed flashes of what I think he's capable of Jer might have figured out how to make cuts, make defender miss and get outside, though it was mostly against second-string FBS ballers. Kyle Ruhe, enough said. Walker and Ferguson show great promise for the future KR game surprised me against FBS competition (Tillman and Dev) Kickers did not do anything that cost us, and did a lot to help us. That is encouraging Dranka and Greely will only get better from here. Shea Walker and Tank Harris will do a lot to help once they are ready to return Line-backing corps looks solid (Ratelle, Rich, Labat and Idowu) Will Ratelle, enough said. Still have not seen what Jenkins will bring to the table Missed opportunities: Tillman, Reyes, and Labat were in good position for INTS but just missed. FB missed a key blocking assignment One bad drop by the WR corps Chop block call negated a nice gain
  4. A tie, two wins and a loss. I remember it well.
  5. Yeah, that's not working too well by the looks of things. Next.

This is a football thread, genius.
  7. We always knew that half of our kicking duties were going to be handled by freshies. It's the punting part that is a bit of a surprise. I agree that there are two ways to look at this move

They'll bring MJM along slowly to give him a chance to completely learn the Defense. Got to remember that he's basically been in full pads on this team for less than a week. He'll see the field before too long.

Yeah... you'd think, and it might turn out that way. Decisions are always being evaluated and re-evaluated -- so who knows how old information is when you hear it.

Don't quote me but I am hearing rumblings of Jer Garman at starting tailback. Hmmm? We shall see.
  12. Mollberg named starter at QB for UND, per Tom Miller of the Herald.

Mollberg named week #1 starter, per Herald.
  14. It won't be for lack of trying on the coaches' part. I was at last Saturday's practice, and I could have sworn I was back in basic training again as I watched the team work out. They probably did more "Up-Downs" than anything else that day. Every little ticky tack mistake and you could hear Rudolph say to Kostich "Get'em going," and with that Kostich would blow his whistle for a series of Up-Downs ....over and over and over and over again. Also, Rudolph yanked a fullback for not paying attention. Then on the defensive side, when things started getting lackluster, Schmidt summoned all D to midfield and gave them a profanity-laced tongue lashing like none I'd seen in a long time, challenging them to "be football players." Outside of Coach Kotelnicki, I did not see this kind of emotion-fueled and discipline-instilled coaching the last three years at Memorial.

They went bowling instead as a team building exercise. Good move by Bubba to keep the motivation high.
  16. Whoa, Danno! That one is right out of the old playbook, I see: North Dakota State University Athletics Department Double Secret Internal Policies Manual for Handling Public Relations Disasters: Chapter 3, para. 42, Line 18: "In the occasion that a certain non-rival -- but certainly despised nonetheless, and therefore, should not be named here -- should, in the vernacular, 'talk smack' about Our beloved players, coaches or fandom's past legal indiscretions, whether real, imagine or they have not had their day in court, one must immediately reference a past, current or ongoing legal transgression from the accusing entity's institution. i.e. Jerome Beasley, Daniel Kristo, or Matthew Frattin are optimal go-to options when in a bind."
  17. Not what we'd hoped, but about what we expected under Muss and his band of entry-level minimum- waged assistants.

Kicking game was shaky today. I have to eat crow on Tauberheim. After I hyped him up earlier this week, he struggled mightily today, and they even put Meindel in to kick FGs and PATs at one point. Of the pure kickers, Fluegge had the better day.

Speaking of QBs, of the four in camp, Mollberg showed the most today. I would give him the edge, if it was based solely on today's scrimmage.

    Fall Camp

I must say that the defense certainly played better than the offense today, but it should be noted that the D has a bit of an advantage in that the referees blow plays dead very early to protect the QBs
