2022-23 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
tnt replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
We’ve seen with the Cooper Moore suspension last year on a hit similar to, if not as bad as the hit Savoie put on Senden, that the league isn’t going to do us any favors. Moore’s hit probably wasn’t as bad, and it didn’t happen near the end of the game either. We now have seen the standard, let’s see if the league is consistent with their punishments. -

Hopefully he learned his lesson. If you are going to take liberties, take them the game prior to the exhibition, so you only have to sit for an exhibition game. St. Cloud has that figured out. -
It’s all talk, until they do it, much like people saying NDSU’s run in football was over.
-
So Major Junior players are twice as tough then?
-
Yeah, I see they moved up to #17 in the pairwise, so in order for us to keep moving forward, we will need to win the upcoming series with them while it is still fresh in Western's mind what we did to them a few weeks ago. No easy task, but it is the hole that UND has dug itself.
-
So they call a questionable hold on one end and miss he hold by the receiver on the Bison touchdown. Don’t tell me home field doesn’t mean anything.
-
Almost like you can’t make it up. Was there no discussion beforehand that the only way you beat a dynasty is by not beating yourself.
-
…and Incarnate Word falling apart.

Agree, they are going to have to take advantage on the power play, and Blake is a great guy to have with his abilities. -

But the way for the U.S. to have a chance at the gold isn't going to be to try outscore teams like Canada, as it would be hard to compete with guys like Shane Wright, Connor Bedard, and Adam Fantilli. The U.S. might have to have a bunch of guys that are two way players, so you never know what that final roster could look like. Agree, he should be there, but you never know. -

They finally found a way to get McLaughlin to shoot the puck -- put him in the shootout! Now if they could only get him to shoot more during the game, we might not need to get to the shootout. -
Schlossman said that Brendan Bushy is suspended for contact to the head in the last game versus Miami, and that he gets to serve the suspension during their exhibition game. Now the question will be, is this the new precedent, or will they find a way to delve out punishment differently in other incidents? Who is involved in the supplemental discipline anyway. Will look pretty bad if they differ in punishment, what with the Commissioner being the former Athletic Director at St. Cloud State. Of course we saw how that works with Cooper Moore being suspended for a similar hit as Savoie, yet he didn't have supplemental discipline even though it was near the end of the game.

Who knows, but they always play pretty tough at home. Lost to Michigan by a goal in Ann Arbor outshooting them slightly, then lost in overtime the next night outshooting them 45-27 but gave up 4 power play goals. I’m sure Michigan wanted to pummel them because the accusation they dodged them last year, but they held their own. -

Need all of the NCHC teams to do really well in the last non-conference series or two. CC has Princeton DU has Lindenwood and Alaska Fairbanks Miami has Niagara Duluth has St. Thomas and Bemidji State Omaha has St. Lawrence St. Cloud has Minnesota Western Michigan has Michigan Tech and TBD in GLI and as everyone has expressed we have to beat Lindenwood. -
Maybe it’s just looking too closely, but I was glad to see there was a subdued reaction to the extra point. Hoping that means they know the work begins tomorrow and that a loss means the weekend puts them another step back. Seemed like they celebrated more in winning the shootout against Quinnipiac, and it seemed they played like it was a win the next night. Get a win tomorrow they can feel better, but a loss doesn’t lead to any momentum going into the second half.
-
A little bit of payback for them getting Morrow to flip.
-
Surprises me he didn’t at least make the trip, but I think it’s time for a goalie to step up, and the team to step up and not allow as many quality scoring chances.
-
Think that this is probably going to happen, and maybe they clamp down in front of him.
-
... and both are coaches kids, correct?
-
Is anyone else shocked that 1st round draft pick Isaac Howard only has 1 goal and 4 assists for Duluth and a team worst -10? Just goes to show you that you can't always depend on the young elite talent to produce right away, and that overage diamonds in the rough like Ryan McAllister can sometimes be a sensible way to make up for lack of super high end guys. The positive thing for Duluth is they probably get him for longer due to his slow start, and combined with Ben Steeves, that is a good combo to build from, although if Howard has an amazing sophomore season he could take off.

Schlossman's article said that although they don't give up many shots, the ones they are giving up are in quality scoring areas. Hard to have a great save percentage if you aren't getting to save easy ones now and again, but are subject to many quality chances. -
If we are fortunate enough to win, I think the games will be close. UND has been in tight games all season, I don't see that changing, especially against a highly ranked team on the road.
-
…and you’re complaining about the Hawk logo on the hockey uniforms? That is probably 20 times the size as that. Almost like they did the same you are accusing of the hockey program.
-
Don’t remember the Sioux logo on the side of the football helmets back when that was the nickname, but now we need to have rules where the logo is or isn’t placed?
-
Did you show me the Sioux logo and name on football helmets and jerseys back in that era?
