... and both are coaches kids, correct?
-
Is anyone else shocked that 1st round draft pick Isaac Howard only has 1 goal and 4 assists for Duluth and a team worst -10? Just goes to show you that you can't always depend on the young elite talent to produce right away, and that overage diamonds in the rough like Ryan McAllister can sometimes be a sensible way to make up for lack of super high end guys. The positive thing for Duluth is they probably get him for longer due to his slow start, and combined with Ben Steeves, that is a good combo to build from, although if Howard has an amazing sophomore season he could take off.

2022-23 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

Schlossman's article said that although they don't give up many shots, the ones they are giving up are in quality scoring areas. Hard to have a great save percentage if you aren't getting to save easy ones now and again, but are subject to many quality chances. -
If we are fortunate enough to win, I think the games will be close. UND has been in tight games all season, I don't see that changing, especially against a highly ranked team on the road.
-
…and you’re complaining about the Hawk logo on the hockey uniforms? That is probably 20 times the size as that. Almost like they did the same you are accusing of the hockey program.
-
Don’t remember the Sioux logo on the side of the football helmets back when that was the nickname, but now we need to have rules where the logo is or isn’t placed?
-
Did you show me the Sioux logo and name on football helmets and jerseys back in that era?
-
Wonder if Berry can make as much as the consultant firm did that gave us their doodling. Maybe an investigation needs to be taken up on that end as well.
-
If Berry was all about money, why did he gift those scholarships to students last year?
-
Exactly!! Between this and Fufeng, we are doomed!!
-
Show me football jerseys when the nickname was Sioux that extensively used Fighting Sioux and the logo? Not saying they didn't use them at one time, but I don't recall them being a huge part of the uniforms, especially in the last decade or so of the nickname.
-
Not prominent enough. Isn't that the argument when UND has the patches on the hockey jerseys?
-
Do the other sports have jerseys with the nickname on them?
-
Didn't they change the game times in the regionals because of the Michigan Covid fiasco, where UND had to play the late game as a number 1 seed, then had to play Duluth the next day coming off of the late game. Not sure if the game time change just became flexible in the case of a forfeit, or what, but nevertheless it was changed in part because of our regional that year, but maybe they couldn't stand Motzko whining that they had to play Mankato coming off of the late game, and Minnesota was the top seed.
-
Does anyone have UND's numbers? Would guess the trend to online learning has something to do with lower numbers on campus, or do those numbers include that.
-
...or maybe they are looking to have a few more guys that could be around more than one or two years.

2022-23 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

Yeah, the last 3 regionals we have hosted, we missed NCAA in Sioux Falls, missed in Fargo, then had the Covid year 5 OT loss in Fargo. Kind of makes you wonder if this bid regional will follow suit. To be honest I am on the fence on this one. -
#player experience!
-
Now you just gave the next reasoning UND won't get a bid, once UND get's the "performance" thing in their direction. Bottom line is that they need to make it a bit more transparent so everyone isn't wondering why they seem to be talking out of both sides of their mouth.

Don't know if that is a recipe for success, hoping the other teams are due for some clunkers. How about we just up our game and start beating teams by playing better ourselves. After all, we were picked ahead of them at the beginning of the season, so our talent level should be sufficient if we start putting it together.
-
Where did Tibesar go after getting let go at Oregon State?
-
So, is it scheme, or just not having the talent and bulk to handle above average teams? We have all known for years what we had to do to be competitive against those teams, especially in the Valley, but it appears there hasn’t been a ton of progress, especially on the defensive line.

2022-23 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

We’ve seen what a difference a year has made for the Vikings in one score games, and while many times a bounce or officials call here or there can come into play, ultimately the players have to make that extra play. So far this year, that extra play has been negative and cost us games. With last nights game, let’s hope we have swung the tide and start winning the close games from here on out and not have to wait until next season to swing the narrative like the Vikings have. -
First two games of the year we didn’t score a power play goal. Lost the special teams battle both nights, giving up a pp last night and short handed tonight. We need to win the special teams battle if we want to beat St Cloud. Need to play better on big ice surface than we did against Minnesota.

Have to at least split, then take care of those same teams above us at home, but 3-1 would certainly keep our head above water going into the second half. Go get next Friday’s game and take it from there.
