  1. Really, how was it that Wisconsin has been on our schedule consistently? The Minnesota Gophers have been synonymous with the word arrogance, so you may want to find a new team to cheer for then. If you bothered to read the scathing article last year regarding your gophers, you had many ex-players echoing that. Don't know if you would hear the same dissent among our alumni. You also might want to take a look at this letter sent to the Herald, which has been more the sentiment concerning our coaching staffs. http://undhockey.areavoices.com/
  2. You mean like a coach who called for the cessation of one of college hockey's best rivalries because of his own personal biases, no matter the rest of the fanbases feelings? By the way the same coach when forced to play UND in the National Semifinals has the nerve to do a complete 180 when talking to the media about how great the rivalry is. Perhaps he knew he had to humble himself a bit and start playing again or he could be out of a job when they can't even fill half the arena for most games.
  3. Care to give examples of this arrogance? I remember gophers doing the jersey popping. Don't think you see the excessive celebrations by UND players compared with much of the rest of the college hockey world. Yes, there are some instances, but as a whole, I think UND has frowned on the "me, me" type celebrations.
  4. It's an obvious improvement, yet I don't think they would ever entertain the thought of making the change.
  5. Wow, he is 44 years old! It doesn't seem that long ago. I guess that's what everyone says when they are getting old!
  6. What about Wallenheimo? Not sure on the spelling of his last name and don't even want to try on his first name.
  7. Was Jeff Jackson one of the coaches that said they wouldn't honor the gentlemen's agreement?
  8. According to GPL, Josh Maniscalco might not end up at Minnesota. Guessing the OHL must have been in his ear, but interesting to see what actually comes of it.
  9. I'm thinking it looks o.k. Would probably look even better with a little smaller logo on the blocker, and one smaller one on each goalie pad.
  10. Exactly, it would have looked terrible. That's what people are saying about a large Fighting Hawk logo.
  11. Personally, if we can just get beyond the stupid booing every time they say "Fighting Hawks at full strength", I will consider that progress.
  12. But the point is, if you'll pardon the pun, is that everyone seems to think that it is one size fits all, and it shouldn't have to be. Never has been in the past, and to all of a sudden decree that every program has to use the new logo as prominently would be hypocritical, and not help in the transition. It's like jamming cauliflower down someone's throat and demanding they like it.
  13. So where was everybody saying that the football team wasn't supporting the old logo? The fact that the football program never had the old logo on their helmet but jumped at this one could just as well look like a slight at the old logo. Many people are saying that this new logo doesn't look good when it is large, but may look better small. That wasn't the case with the old logo. I am not a huge fan of the new logo, but it does look fine on certain things. I just don't think if a team chooses not to use a logo prominently it says that they aren't loyal to the University.
  14. Don't remember the Fighting Sioux logo being a prominent part on the football field and helmets.
  15. That's very true, but perhaps we all were too optimistic that Santiago could run behind any offensive line. Knowing that football is all about the struggle in the trenches, we all could be in for a rude awakening if they don't gel. Having said that, even the O-line group from last year struggled a bit finding space for Santiago against tough defenses early last year, then started giving him the little creases he needed to explode.
  16. Actually this team needs to attract the bandwagon fans like the Bison did when they started to put together their string of championships. The way you do that is by winning these games and keeping the buzz alive. And once you get those bandwagon fans, they are hooked and hopefully the atmosphere at the games that was created compels them to stay on even through a rough year or two. Let's start the process of getting some of those bandwagon fans against Bowling Green.
  17. In my eyes, the hurt of tonight isn't so much about people jumping off the ship, it's about people not jumping on the ship. They needed to create that excitement in the rest of the community to get them to start attending games. They have actually had some buzz around town, but this doesn't help keep that going. If people on this site have already lost some of that excitement, you can bet the casual fan has too.
  18. Did you not see my point, "starting out"? I was one of the many people that caught part of the women's game before the men's game, and at times it wasn't pretty. I was also one of the ones who did a complete 180 and enjoyed watching the women more. The point was that it wouldn't have happened if it wasn't given a chance to evolve.
  19. I can actually foresee that somewhere down the line, when there isn't such a discrepancy in talent in the lower ranks of hockey. I think the concern is that those that aren't that strong on their skates at the lower levels would be set up for going into the boards wrong and risk permanent injury. But we have seen many women participating fully in non traditional women's sports, so one day, just like women's basketball it may evolve more like the men's game. I am just curious why lower teams without as deep of pockets like St. Cloud, Bemidji, and Mankato State haven't cut women's hockey. Maybe they are waiting to see how the women's sport evolves.
  20. That is what Brad Schlossman was trying to tell everyone, that it makes no sense to have that kind of committee.
  21. So then women's basketball would have been cut years ago when they were first starting out. The only way they got people to go was that they got people to watch part of the second half because they arrived early for the men's game.
  22. Neil was the goaltender for Central in the epic 7 overtime tie with Red River in 1977.
  23. Do you attend games? I ask, because I always see Fasion at games. There are times he is not there because he is attending games on the road. Let's not demonize him with a broad brush just because he has made some decisions we don't agree with.
