I believe he was. IIRC he decided he would walk on at the school who lost in the Championship game. That is the year we lost to Minnesota.
-
Wonder how many college teams have had numerous walk-ons make it to the NHL. Phil Sykes, Matt Henderson, Jay Caulfield, and Cole Smith. Any that I am missing? I know Caulfield had a football scholarship and was injured, but don’t think he had hockey scholarship.
-
Don’t think Magnuson played defense. Glen Fester maybe.
-
That goes both ways though. I agree in concept, as it would cause schools to evaluate more before making an offer, but how many guys would UND have been stuck with if the commitment was binding? Charlie Pelnik, Luke Beaverson, Michael Fink, Danny Mattson, Christian Cakebread, Luke Voltin, Jack Rowe to only name a few. If some of those names are unfamiliar, it shows they didn't do much after they parted ways. I see now that you were talking commitments, not verbals, but it definitely goes both ways.

I perceived the discussion to be more about guys that UND decided to part with as recruits, even though we aren't positive that is what happened with Halliday and Rizzo. We didn't decide to part with Miller, he decided to play Major Junior instead.

They are trying to make up some of the Champions Club membership that they lost out on. When you figure some of those membership levels in on the average ticket, I imagine it would increase the ticket price a bit. -
CC beat Duluth having fewer games under their belts, why does UND have to feel bad for sweeping a series after coming off a month without a game?
-
Are we sure this wasn’t initiated by UND? Wonder the same thing about Halliday. It would be interesting to know what went on behind the scenes in both cases.

That's good. You wouldn't want to be playing tons of games near tournament time. At least this gives you a little more wiggle room if/when you run into more postponements. -

So they are taking the place of other games to be played later? -
Who would have thought that Canada would need to rely on an artificial boost like revenge to be King of the hockey world? Shouldn't that have been on their minds yesterday after people kept telling them that the U.S. had beaten Canada the last 3 times they met in the Gold Medal game?

Covid related, and teams agreed to it.

I bet they don’t keep their whistles in their pockets now.

But it made it sound like the NCHC wasn’t involved in us adding games, so I would assume they would need to be if we were rescheduling league games. -

Wouldn't be very smart of the NCHC to set a standard for playing then change it. -
Since Canada hasn't been behind the whole tournament, it would be nice to get that first goal and play from the lead.
-
People questioned James Patrick the first half of his freshman season, and he didn’t accelerate to play a year early in college.
-
So if CC should happen to sweep Denver and Denver falls to 3-8, does Bobby Brink go directly to the Flyers after World Juniors? If they thought he might make their lineup, it might be tempting.

Testing protocols would be what they have always been, but it sounds like they have a good standard in place as to how many players you can be missing before you have to reschedule. -

Yes, I would have thought in order to find a deserving Penrose winner you could play a crossover series late. Don't know how many Omaha players are out, but the powers that be had no problem with us playing a third of the season without two of our top defensemen. They knew that the World Juniors would play a huge factor. That said, this is an unusual year and they did their best, it just seems they could have left some wiggle room at the end of the season to mitigate the uneven schedules. -

That is the huge positive about this. Hopefully when we play them, we will have Kleven and Sanderson back. -

Agree, the focus in the POD should have been playing only teams you don’t play in the second half. -

I think Keane plays the way Berry likes, and I agree he will be in the mix. Although it may not be every game, I think he will get a chance here and there, if for no other reason than to hold other guys accountable who don't play with passion. I would guess that he might be here next year as well, as they will be replacing some guys. -

You don’t think Keane will be playing? -
Denver's? I wouldn't be so quick to count them out. Bobby Brink is like our Shane Pinto, and they had a little more transition to do from last year on the back end. Let's just hope they don't get back in it at our expense.
