2021-22 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

The worst part is that because of Covid we couldn’t fully enjoy how good they were the past two years. Missed watching the game in Nashville with this group. -
Have seen so many big misses by recruiting really young goaltenders. I think you can wait on most goalies and see how they perform in the USHL. We’ll see if Hedquist can figure it out at that level in the coming year or so.
-
You don’t last as a coach by holding grudges. Do we know why Motzko doesn’t like him? Maybe his work ethic sucks, or maybe something worse.
-
So you want us to go after a guy that isn’t good enough to start for Minnesota?
-
I still think you have to look for a goalie that can be a go to guy. Not that Thome can’t, but we saw what happened when Scheel lost confidence a year ago.
-
That’s a pretty general statement. Westin Michaud worked out pretty well. Without any help from the portal I think UND is fighting to stay in the upper half of the league. Will probably be in that predicament regardless, but they need a scorer to put alongside Gaber.
-
Try playing the night game, then playing a team that didn’t have to play the day before. Then add to that playing another whole game!
-
I assume Dane Couture is related to former Sioux goalie Tony Couture?

I worry every time a team has the puck in our end in overtime. Have seen way too many times what kind of goal wins those games. We were absolutely dominating Boston University the whole game and lost that one as well. -
Really not interested in a philosophy of "we know we are bad, but look how bad we could be". We need a culture that makes people want to stick around.
-
So if one team went out, Minnesota could get back in the tournament?
-
We play them in Nashville next year, so we'll see if you just jinxed us.
-
Hoping that the title passing to the team that was beaten in the tournament the year or so before continues on. We beat Denver in the semifinal and then won our championship, then Denver won the tournament and I believe they beat Duluth. Then Duluth won a couple times, the last by beating UMass. Hoping Umass can oust Duluth and then either win or lose to Mankato.
-
Yeah, he didn't have any problem saying Dan Senkbeil or Brett Bruneteau were transferring, don't know why this would be different. Players just looking for playing time they didn't get here or didn't think they were going to get.

To me this next year we're going to see what Berry can do with a team that has some pieces but isn't supremely talented. He has done well with teams that have been loaded, but now where do they go with a team that has lost some big pieces, much like Duluth lost most of their defensive core after their last championship. Need to be able to reload fast, especially with the availability of the transfer portal and the appeal UND has in the college hockey world, but in the same breath you have to find the right kind of player. You don't want to bring in a bunch of divas that are just looking to latch on to a great program, you want guys that are willing to fight in any circumstance they are in, and don't pack it in when adversity hits. -
We'll be suffering that equation for next year, so you're telling me there's a chance!
-
What is with BU and offside goals and broken glass?
-
Should have had one in the first when AIC was playing well. I can see him being a goat in a game if he doesn’t get his act together. Duluth’s powerplay is much different than AIC’s.
-
A lot of grabbing by AIC, yet we are the ones that are forced to burn more energy to get away from that style, then have to kill penalties to boot. Going forward in the NCAA tournament, if you aren’t featuring a higher seed for prime time TV, they should be playing the early game. They talk about protecting the #1 seed in bracketing, they should do the same in game scheduling.
-
Is it up for anyone yet?
-
Kudos to Siouxnatty8 for nailing this game. I suppose Bemidji did frustrate them with their tenacity, but as mentioned they were just the all around better team today.
-
So Caufield in a Montreal Canadiens uniform for their next game?
-
Glad Bemidji wasn't put in our bracket.
-
So you're saying the state of Minnesota hasn't had issues with widespread variants?
-
It is just curious to me that all that states that had the lockdown mentality from the outset seem to be suffering setback after setback with Covid.
