  1. That’s because they are giving $1000 to five people at the end of the season for perfect attendance from a drawing.
  2. My bigger concern is Gardner’s quote to Schlossman that they let up. While it doesn’t count yet, their new mantra of “zero”, starting from scratch every period to add to the legacy of UND hockey, needs to be more than lip service if they are going to change those ties into wins this year. If their adherence to that motto is that short lived, I hope they don’t have to keep learning that lesson that every point counts, and that even losing that 3-0 lead to Miami is what cost them the NCAA tournament. Here’s to hoping that “zero” truly starts against Bemidji State. Gardner also needs to realize as a leader it starts with him, as in “zero” penalties, unless you are stopping a scoring chance. This team can’t afford to take needless penalties.
  3. Probably a good thing they didn’t win 7-1, as many that are judging the game by the score would be talking National Championship already.
  4. I agree that we should be proud at winning a title no matter the level, but if we stayed in Division 2 and were winning titles every year, I would guess the people down south would be saying how cute it is that we won at that level.
  5. He would probably have you believe he goes to games out of a sense of duty to UND, but ultimately if he gives up his seat, there are plenty of people that would be willing to buy it. But certainly the way he "tolerates" hockey is coincidental to how people tolerate the attitude.
  6. Forgot about them. Also, I wouldn't think Costello would be here in 2019.
  7. https://www.collegehockeynews.com/reports/roster/North-Dakota/40 Assuming Keegan Karki as a 2019 recruit is based on old information. Everything else seems up to date, other than Mitch Miller being a defensive recruit.
  8. If they kept the old buns they would have been just fine. Oh, wait... Nevermind!
  9. Any indication if Cam York is still planning on going the college route after decomitting from BC, or is he going to be drafted high enough that he may go Major Junior rather than possibly be in college short term?
  10. So, if the media day clips are an indication and if the Jones, Kawaguchi , Mismash line stays together, Hain either is on the line with Gardner and Adams, or on a line with Bowen, and either Yon/Senden/Keane/Casey Johnson.
  11. On the little media day clip it looked like Weatherby was with Cole Smith and Ludvig Hoff on a line. Will be interesting to see what the lines are for the exhibition game. Would like to see Jones stay with Mismash and Kawaguchi, as they looked pretty good at the end of last year.
  12. Don’t know, the football team disrespected the University by not putting it on their helmet.
  13. https://bchl.ca/stats/player/4891/36/harrison-blaisdell Guess Blaisdell has taken that step forward. Already half way to his point total of last year and 2/3 of the way to his goal total. He was no where close to the other big time '01 recruit Alex Newhook (BC) last year, but certainly has hit his stride so far this year! Too bad Rizzo hasn't been able to play more than a game.
  14. Who is this Austin Polanski, is he related to Roman?
  15. After the top six forwards, the numbers of Duluth don’t stand out above and beyond, but I think they had better production and consistency from their top six. A lot of teams struggle to score consistently, but that is why having a defensive corps that can help out a lot is huge. Like Schlossman’s blog said, special teams are the difference, and we have to be better killing penalties and scoring on the power play. Timely scoring is going to be the difference between all the ties, and taking a step forward this year.
  16. No, I was thinking Boeser got sent to the farm team because it didn’t make sense that they wouldn’t have a young guy playing somewhere. The point is still relevant though, as he sure took advantage once he cracked the lineup.
  17. It's all about making your presence known when you get called up. Boeser didn't start the season with Vancouver, but once he got there it was a no brainer that he would stay.
  18. "Every program faces the task of replacing players every year but it’s rare that a program must replace three players of their caliber in a single year." Try having to do it two years in a row!
  19. No, that’s why I was trying to figure if he was basing it on overall potential of talent.
  20. So a team without Boeser, Jost and Tucker Poolman was a step up from a team with them. I could see if he used the word potential in that, as I think when Kawaguchi, Adams, Mismash, Bast and Kiersted have more time under their belts they might be very special, but they showed they had a learning curve last year.
  21. I find it ironic that the "greenest" generation have such a disregard for littering. Maybe they just assume someone is going to clean it up for them.
  22. Maybe that's what this one is all about. They are trying to make the other one look better with the logic that "we know our logo is bad, we just want you to see how bad it could have been"!
  23. We didn't get guys like that in the old Ralph for the most part, but that is my point, they still won. I am sure Gino and his staff received nothing starting out, at least nowhere near what Ned Harkness would have made, but they took it to another level anyway, and eventually got guys like James Patrick who was drafted # 9 overall in a period where that was almost unheard of in college hockey. That Hakstol article that Schlossman refers to on his blog is another example. Hakstol inherited a team in Sioux City and completely had to remake it, and did so with blood and guts guys. Great read, for those who have the time.
  24. But at some point, you have to win first to get recruits. Gino inherited a team from his predecessor and started to win immediately because he instilled a different culture. You do recall people saying the Ralph was a curse because they thought it made the players soft. Of course that wasn't true, but you can win if you have the right message and expectation.
