  1. True. The coaching staff is 100% culpable with this. This is Bubba's 4th season. There is zero excuse for the lack of depth and for how this team is executing. Injuries are part of the game and you need to have the depth to overcome them.
  2. I think the seniors are a big part of the problem. This team is once again not ready to play. It looks as though there is no leadership in the locker room whatsoever.
  3. This game and the season so far reminds me a lot of the 2002 team unfortunately. That team came in with extremely high expectations, had key injuries early that made us extremely young at LB and DB, and also to be frank had an unfocused offseason after the national championship, and approached too many games with an attitude that we just had to show up to win. We were beat down at home by Central Washington early in the season, didn't beat anyone who was any good (UNC, UNO) but did beat NDSU, SDSU, and USD who were all terrible that season. We also lost games to Mankato and Augustana who were far less talented than us. We finished at 5-6 and the upcoming offseason the coaches pushed us as hard as any offseason during my career there. It was the type of offseason that could have made or broken the program. Fortunately, it re-focused the team and we were playing for a national championship again in 2003. I hope I'm wrong on this but there are just too many similarities right now.
  4. Why do the Lamoreaux twins get to tell private donors what to do with their money? They are not that important.
  5. It's pretty bull$%!# that he's leaving out targeted gifting (Champion's Club, etc.) which is a large amount of the direct institutional support. I'm sorry but if I give the school a $1,000 for the right to purchase hockey/ football tickets then that revenue doesn't exist if they cut athletics. I know that doesn't fit in Rob's never-ending quest to prevent others from pursuing athletic activity (in hopes that they will all join him in his morbid obesity) but that's just a fact.
  6. Then UND should go with the Sicatoka approach. Basically say that due to the state legislature, ND doesn't have enough funds to clear the roads or to prevent home bound old people from starving in their houses (Meals on Wheels cuts) so it doesn't have enough money to finance women's hockey.
  7. UND really doesn't need to do anything. People overestimate the effectiveness of a social media campaign. The Lammy twins aren't even coming up with a plan to help defray the costs. They are going to tweet and facebook about it and somehow that's supposed to convince UND to cut $2 million in costs someplace else.
  8. I don't get why you think UND would generate revenue out of this. The market that you keep citing as a potential market for players and fans (MSP) just had a professional lacrosse team fold only two years ago (the Swarm). If they can't make it cash flow, why would a program at UND be any different? Like women's hockey, there is a reason that most institutions won't touch lacrosse with a ten foot pole. There is no market there.
  9. And causes facility problems because it would play in the HPC and kick football back outside for spring ball.
  10. That's sort of how life works. Most things worth accomplishing are difficult to accomplish. It's difficult to win a championship in these sports because tens of millions of people are invested in and care a great deal about them. That's just not the case with women's hockey. It's easier for UND to win a championship and produce Olympians for the exact same reason why 290 people show up for playoff games. There just are not that many people who care about it.
  11. Great effort by this team tonight. I have to say they represented the school well and I'm proud of them. Arizona has a ton of talent, so it will be interesting to see how they do in this tournament. They definitely are capable of beating anyone in the tourney, though I can see how they'd frustrate the hell out of their fans at times.
  12. I know I'm going to get flamed for this but has it occurred to North Dakotans that they could avoid this boom/ bust cycle if they'd pay higher state income tax rate than 2.9%? At what point does the state government just admit that there is a base level of services that North Dakotans desire (universities that function, highways without potholes, etc.) and then come up with a plan to raise that revenue that isn't entirely dependent on the price of a volatile commodity?
  13. It's looking like he's going to lose the popular vote by 2 million votes and in his first 9 days he's appointed a white nationalist as his chief strategist, an Islamophobe who most in the national security establishment view as a likely Russian spy as his national security advisor, and had a surrogate go on TV and cite the internment of Japanese citizens during WWII as a good historical precedent for setting up a national registry of Muslims. It seems like the concerns of these protestors are much more legitimate than a bunch of white guys taking over a wildlife refuge because they don't want to pay grazing fees.
  14. Bartels has won before at UNC... I think you'd have to give him the start if called.
  15. So Dalrymple is going to use military and police forces to attack, beat and arrest unarmed women and children to protect his personal investment in this pipeline. I guess we can officially start referring to the state of ND as a third world petro state.
  16. Looking at Kennedy's resume, it's pretty obvious he is a short-timer. His entire career is made up of short mediocre and unimpressive stints in leadership positions. Taking that into consideration this decision isn't surprising.
  17. I actually wouldn't be surprised if they lose to Missouri State. This UNI team is even worse than their record. If they win more than 1-2 games the rest of the way it's actually a testament to how weak the MVFC really is as they are incapable of playing anything resembling football on offense right now.
  18. Mainly on AnygivenSaturday. It shouldn't matter but they have a poll that's actually given credence when it comes time for playoff selections. IMO there isn't anything more Mickey Mouse than putting stock in fan polls but apparently the NCAA feels that's appropriate for FCS.
  19. Agreed.... as usual this year's Montana team is soft as toilet paper. I don't think they'd stay within two scores of us.
  20. That may be so but typically when agreements have adverse impacts to both parties they are changed or ignored. I don't think either REA or UND would sue the other party for dropping women's hockey if ultimately it is beneficial to both parties.
  21. It says right in the article that "charges were dropped by the complainant". That would certainly imply they were initially brought. It doesn't take much to infer that the girl who was locked out of the room wasn't OK with this but I guess some people can't admit that racial harassment exists unless it personally happens to them.
  22. She had to have initially pressed charges if the UPD began an investigation. Why she withdrew them is up for speculation but she obviously wasn't fine with this initially. It's an interesting decision by Kennedy. I wonder if you can still be kicked out of the dorms for playing your music too loudly since, apparently, racially harassing your neighbor is now acceptable.
  23. The picture indicates a lot worse behavior than just posting something stupid online. From all appearances their locking another student out of a campus housing facility that may or may not be that student's personal residence and using that person's own personal property to post a harassing photograph. That really elevates this to a whole different level of harassment.
  24. I think this thread highlights the crybaby culture that's taken over conservatism. You guys basically want to do or say whatever you want with zero repercussions while at the same time enforcing extreme consequences on those who disagree with you (i.e Kaepernick, Oxbow looking to fire the UND instructor). These girls could have avoided this by simply not being terrible human beings. As a white male, I've never been labeled a racist or misogynist and I attribute that to the fact that I try not to do racist or misogynistic things. It's simple as that. In this country your largely have the right to say whatever you want and the government can't punish you for it. If you're going to use that right to tell offensive jokes that aren't very funny, bully or taunt others, or post racist rants online against people who are different from you then you can't expect others to not use their rights to free speech and free association to condemn or ostracize you. You can call them hyper sensitive if you want, but really you're the one's who are being overly sensitive. You're basically starting a fight and then complaining when someone fights back. You're not 7 years olds any more. It's time to grow up.
  25. The girls in the photo should be expelled just like the bigoted asshole from Belmont. I'm sorry but if you're stupid enough to do this and post it on Twitter then you're too stupid to attend a university.
