  1. That is the strategy but our medical system has not ramped up enough to withstand the influx of patients. Hospitals are running out of ventilators, PPE, and other materials in each of the hot spots and it's only getting worse because the Trump admin has completely botched the response. Our president is a man of low capability who's mainly gotten through life by lying and bullshitting people and those aren't qualities that are going to help address this pandemic.
  2. This is one of the most nonsensical paragraphs I've ever read.
  3. He doesn't only "hope" things will be open by Easter. He sent out a letter to the governor of every state with details on how they should "open things back up" for Easter. He's clearly going to risk millions of lives to soothe his own ego. Classic Narcissistic Personality Disorder .
  4. Serious question... how many deaths and infections need to occur before you would admit that this is a problem? Is it 12K? 100K? 1M?
  5. If a person presents with symptoms and is negative for the flu and other diseases can they be tested for Covid19? Can nurses, doctors, EMT's and other personnel who are exposed to Covid19 be tested? They absolutely cannot in most metropolitan areas and absolutely cannot be tested in the state of Minnesota per the Minnesota Department of Health's statement in the Star tribune today. That's unacceptable. Also I call BS on your statement that insulting people who disagree with your opinions is what led to Trump's election. Insulting his political opponents is all that he does as evidenced by him going after the Democratic Governor's of Michigan, Illinois, and Washington for defying him politically. If he'd devoted one-tenth of his attention to this epidemic as he does to insulting people on Twitter and at his hate rally's we wouldn't be in this place.
  6. We wouldn't have this lockdown situation if the country would have had access to testing earlier and had testing readily available. We didn't have access to testing and do not have access to testing now because Trump declined the WHO's test. He declined the tests because he figured positive tests would be bad for his re-election. He also fired most of the people with experience handling something like this in 2018 and hampered the work of those left behind. You can try and blame this on the media all you want but we're here because this administration is incompetent and criminally corrupt and you're not going to get 60% of this country to turn a blind eye to it just because you have.
  7. That's what's so frustrating... you have the entire OL lose weight but then you have your starting RB (Johannesson) get too heavy to effectively play the position. At this point, it's nearly impossible not to question what's going on with this program and what type of messaging the players are hearing from this coaching staff.
  8. Yesterday only showed that after 5 years with Schweigert as coach, UND is pretty much in the same place they were the last time they played NDSU in 2015. The program has not advanced at all under his tenure. It's time for new leadership of this program.
  9. Their ascendance is a perfect example of fortune favoring the bold. UND, USD, and the rest of the NCC other than SDSU basically decided to de-emphasize their football programs by staying Division II when the SU's left. At the same time Nebraska eliminated their walk-on program and shortly thereafter UNO dropped football entirely, opening up a new recruiting area for SDSU/ NDSU which has provided key players on the last few championships (Stick). All this while University of Minnesota's football program has gone through a decade of nearly constant coaching turnover (Mason/ Brewster/ Kill/Claeys/ Fleck) that continues to this day.
  10. To be fair to Brewster, you can't hold Crocket and Williams against him. Both were non-qualifiers and thus ineligible to play Big Ten Football. To NDSU's credit they've done as well as anyone in the country in working with kids who are non-qualifiers to get them eligible and on the practice field after the period they are forced to sit out.
  11. They need to open up the books and provide a full accounting. REA and McGarry have been proven liars through their own public statements, so they should no longer be given the benefit of the doubt that they are properly stewarding the money entrusted to them.
  12. It's impossible to read this thread and not get sick to my stomach thinking about what an additional $400K-$500K of revenue each year would have meant to the football program over the last 15 years in terms of salaries, improvements, scholarships, etc. To argue that it wouldn't is entirely asinine. Kris McGarry and the REA foundation are leeches and crooks. She's never made an honest buck in her life and her sense of entitlement to the revenues generated by UND athletics is astounding.
  13. I think we should legalize all drugs and drug test every single American every day and publish the results. That way we can know who's fun to party with and who's just a hypocritical asshole.
  14. Yes, because rage-tweeting at 3 am is something totally normal people who are not using cocaine do all the time. Nothing suspicious there (sniff!)
  15. Would you support drug testing of the hockey team as vigorously as drug testing of the football team? The drug use rates in collegiate/ NHL hockey is astronomical and it's a lot harder stuff than marijuana.
  16. Since I've been accused of being a "stoner" I had best defend myself, I haven't smoked a joint since college where I partook maybe a handful of times while at UND. I was on the FB team so I guess at any time I could have been tested shortly after smoking and failed and been kicked off the team and had my name drug through the mud in the papers, even though I was an honor student who graduated with two degrees. The pollyanna's on this thread are naïve to how much drug use is prevalent in our society. Stock brokers, investment bankers and politicians (cough.... Trump, Steve Bannon) can snort all the coke they can handle and we'll look the other way because it makes them more productive. Police officers, fire fighters, and our military can take steroids to build up their bodies for the physical rigors of the job and we'll ignore it in even the most obvious of cases. In Silicon Valley right now, web developers pay for hallucinogens like mushrooms and LSD to enhance their creativity and, if Steve Jobs is to be believed, it's why we have the iPhone. All over the country (especially in ND) their are millions of Americans who can't make it through the day without a pain pill or two or three or four and they're the helpless victims of addiction. The only time anyone ever actually pays any price for drug use is when a young person (usually black or Hispanic) decides to use marijuana, because of all the horrible addictions (alcohol, gambling, pornography) that someone can fall into, for some reason marijuana is the one we get upset about.
  17. This is going to be my last post on this because we're de-railing the thread but the government can fire a stinger missile at you with a flying robot. You're not going to stand much of a chance with a 30 round magazine and a semi-automatic rifle.
  18. I don't have the same background your wife has but having grown up with an extended family of addicts of all types of persuasion, I will say that there are far more destructive legal addictions. We all need to honestly assess if we have that genetic pre-disposition to addiction and be vigilant in our personal lives to make sure we don't succumb to it.
  19. It actually doesn't. What leads to other stuff is when you're doctor prescribes you a 30 day prescription of OxyContin after your knee or rotator cuff surgery with a re-fill and two months later you're going through withdrawals so bad getting off the stuff that you start buying pills from others. That's the real drug problem is this country. It isn't pot-smokers.
  20. There are plenty of athletes who are able to use marijuana and perform at a high level. There is even scientific evidence that it can help heal the effect of head trauma. If they are using enough to impact their performance on the field then that's another problem, but it's no different than if any other distraction is impacting their performance (alcohol, crazy girlfriends, video games, etc.).
  21. Do we really care if high schoolers are smoking marijuana? Of all the things that high schoolers get into, that's probably the least of our worries.
  22. I'm going to be frank with you. I don't think possessing either is that big a deal. From all appearances they are at worst small time dealers making some extra bucks on the side. They aren't the cartel and it's long past time we stopped ruining peoples futures for a plant that's legal for nearly half of the population.
  23. I would hope federal law enforcement has better !@#$ to do. God bless America... A person can purchase the tools to shoot and maim nearly 600 people in 15 minutes but can't buy or sell a plant they intend to smoke in their own home.
  24. I'm not going to defend anyone on this football team's performance to this points, as it's clear that a lot of these guys aren't focused on football. That being said, I'm not going to be surprised when a few months pass by and these two plead to misdemeanor drug paraphernalia charges. The GFPD is notorious for overcharging and some of their drug possession charges have been largely fictional. It's ridiculous as they make this crap up for the newspapers and two months later when the charges are pled down significantly or dropped altogether it isn't mentioned anywhere. If you go back and look at the last few drug arrests with the program and how they ultimately ended up, you'll see that the GFPD has been less than forthright.
  25. He's missing on too many recruits. He has far too many players leave after one or two seasons. It's a sign that the staff is not evaluating talent appropriately. Also, I'm going to get ripped for this but Poole's situation could have been handled differently. I'm sorry but every football team in the country has players that occasionally smoke marijuana. Hell it's legal in his home state. It's a football team not the church choir.
