People live the underdog through to the elite 8 but I'm still convinced the Final Four does better when the Dukes, UNC, Kansas, Kentucky, Arizonas, etc are in it. This is would not surprise me to see this in the future.

This ^^^^^^^^^. We know what we have at nearly every other position group (LB could be debated) but if the OL plays like last year we will not be improved and could be 0-3 after our non conference schedule.

I think there was room for the university to be reshaped. Does it hurt to have to go to this extent, yes, but this could also be an opportunity to step back and determine how students want to take classes today, not continuing to do things the same way they've been done for years just because. With recent investments in the med school and engineering school, along with others, UND isn't going anywhere but it needs to adjust/change. I'm sure there is plenty to change in academics and not being in a DII bus league anymore, there is plenty to change in athletics and come out of this stronger. Leadership just needs to do its job.

When our games remaining are against #7,#8 and #10 in the conference we better be able to win two out of three And two of them are at home

I think they both can be true. We can cut sports and still be better than bottom 10 in NCAA for funding women's opportunities vs men's.

I view this as an opportunity for UND to cut some sports and right size their athletic dept. I do find it funny that FU keeps telling the media they aren't cutting sports but fails to mention the ramifications of them cutting a sport. They aren't cutting anything because the FBS dream would be gone. Anyway, keep raising ticket prices. Get it while you can. Raise them another $5 while your at it to start raising money to fix the shortcuts in the SHAC.

No one in the Fargo media has balls to ask a tough question or state any facts. The best part was WDAY, stating athletics is taking a 40% cut than following that with a story on student uncertainty about what is being cut and what students will lose. Imagine if they'd state the facts that athletics is only cutting 1.8% and the rest will be coming from money meant to fund academics and than ran that story.

How many posts have there been here and on b'ville about the discrepancy in state funding to each university? Didn't Brescanni even complain about it to the state legislature a few years back? Is that money they wanted for academics or athletics?
