Have you seen him practice? He's better than these two?

The other teams don't have a snowball's chance in hell to win a national championship. I'm all for it and maybe the coaches learned to reevaluate the importance. Goals should be more than that though for the players.

I really can’t believe conference championship rings are that big of a deal. I don’t recall ever getting one. I don’t know if other local programs get one, their sites may be set higher. For the other sports at UND, I can see them being a big deal because realistically, they aren’t winning a national championship.

When was his last conference championship?

Or just experience and the fact that we had 3, 4 or 5 really young men playing a position that strength and experience account for a lot of the results. Its not like we were just plugging in a RSFr or two up front unfortunately.

This year showed what happens when true freshmen and red shirt freshmen are relied upon for depth. They aren't ready when surrounded by other true freshmen and red shirt freshmen. Hoping the experience and player development this year helps build needed depth. I am hoping the 2018 class can all redshirt, with the exception of a JUCO or transfer at a position of need (interior OL, DB or LB).

I don't think there is benefit losing any players. The way I see it, players and coaches have two options. All in or leave and head somewhere else where their level of effort will be more welcome. I think they all want to win but after a 3-8 season not sure anyone is in position to point fingers at anyone other than themselves. I won't even go into the real world comparison of being late for a meeting and the lessons to learn from this. Accountability isn't a bad thing and will be very important later in life.

Somebody recruited those players and put them in a spot to make those plays.

They were 3-8 this year. What do they want someone to hold them and tell them everything will be ok? Put the big boy pants on and get to work.

Most fans watching would agree.

Glad to see the ladies get the win. It was looking pretty bad after set 3. They had all the momentum and had our blockers guessing a bit.

O line play have anything to do with it?

While I don’t completely disagree with some attrition, this is where completely ignoring the amount of injuries at those positions is a mistake. The concussions for O’Brien set things in motion. It was late enough that you can’t replace that spot. To try and replace it, you take your best OLB and move him to ILB because it’s such an important position. Than preseason you lose the youth expected to contribute, (Larsen) and 1st quarter of game #2 you lose Rogers. Tough to prep for that. Now they did miss on a JUCO and had some recruits bail prior to signing day but with not a lot of upper class depth, you are relying a lot on the three full recruiting class Bubba had. Same could be said with OL. I don’t disagree with coaching staff needing to evaluate a lot of things, starting with development at certain positions and schemes.

Your assumption that every recruit in every class is going to be a contributor is a pretty bold assumption.

The offense had to win a number of games in 2016. USD and NAU come to mind right away.
-
was there two anomaly’s in a row than with 7-4 and 8-3?
-
Where were you a couple years ago? Winning percentage was the same?
-
Who expects average football? I haven’t read a post in this board saying I’m fine with 3-8.

Lots of risk transferring for one season to an offense that may not give him the same freedom to play like Jones’ offense. Hopefully Jones could schedule some big games to showcase his talents.

I’m well aware thanks. In less than a months time as well. I’m not saying he should stay or go, I’m torn actually. I answered the question that there was a season when we had our best OL in recent memory that no one complained about the OC. And actually if not for the double reverse last year, complaints were fairly minimal. They actually got a bit quieter as the OL improved last year. Until the 2nd half at Richmond.

So a 6-1, 205 lb sophomore is too small to play one game at LB, what about a 6’1”, 185 lb freshman next to a converted 6’, 200 lb. Makes it a little easier to plug in one player vs. 2 in the linebacking corps with 2nd stringers in the secondary behind you.

I don’t recall any negative comments on him after the Cal Poly game the season before last.
