Lots of risk transferring for one season to an offense that may not give him the same freedom to play like Jones’ offense. Hopefully Jones could schedule some big games to showcase his talents.

I’m well aware thanks. In less than a months time as well. I’m not saying he should stay or go, I’m torn actually. I answered the question that there was a season when we had our best OL in recent memory that no one complained about the OC. And actually if not for the double reverse last year, complaints were fairly minimal. They actually got a bit quieter as the OL improved last year. Until the 2nd half at Richmond.

So a 6-1, 205 lb sophomore is too small to play one game at LB, what about a 6’1”, 185 lb freshman next to a converted 6’, 200 lb. Makes it a little easier to plug in one player vs. 2 in the linebacking corps with 2nd stringers in the secondary behind you.
-
I don’t recall any negative comments on him after the Cal Poly game the season before last.
-
No, this is the “conference rankings” don’t matter part. Except when they conveniently do.

Having consistent LB play could have turned a lot of our competitors 2nd and 5s, into 2nd and 9s. Lots of times Rastas was in the right spot but physically could not make the tackle at the point of attack vs dragging a ball carrier down. Early in the season the opposing offenses 1st down play was a run up the middle and their bail out play was a seam route to the WR. Physically, guys were not ready to stop that. Our defense was successful last year because teams could not run against us. Getting teams into 3rd and 7/8 makes bringing the pressure much more effective. Having two thumpers in the middle would have helped. I like Rastas, he was just physically ready to play 10 snaps a game this year and special teams vs 50 to 60 plays on defense.

Played or started? Not all freshman should/have to red shirt but having as many sophomores and younger start isn’t good either
-
Neither?? Guys like Rogers, Harris and Reyes are questionable recruits now?
-
For him it’s conditioning. I think you were spot on when you said he needs to drop a few lbs this off season. He gets tired and will get hooked or reached Stops playing with his hands He is very athletic for a big guy. Just needs to stay on the field.
-
And how many of those changes happen? Easier to try different combinations when you play 3 times as many games with an exhibition.
-
You named two walk ons, a couple true freshman (that shouldn’t have played) and a kid that has lacked confidence since he’s been here. The Zimmerman situation I don’t get. It was clear last year that Brad wasn’t a QB. I don’t even think our starter was truely D1 caliber Think we are better at that position next season You posted earlier about things being screwed up before he season started. On defense, I’d agree. That happened when O’Brien was forced to hang it up and guys had to get shuffled around. #21 (a walk on) is a better safety than OLB and #48 is a better OLB than ILB. Preseason injuries fucked our defense. Blame injuries, blame recruiting but no team could withstand playing 9 games in a season with #4 & #5 on their depth chart at the second most important position on D. That defense with those same guys though did play pretty well against EWU Recruiting a true freshman won’t help depth this year either. Can’t afford a swing and miss on a JUCO at MLB or CB this year if that’s the route they go.
-
Maybe not but the names of the opponents will help.
-
Think they go up because what is coming two years down the road. You don’t get season tickets now, you’ll have !@#!$ seats in 2020. People around me are adding seats to their grouping if available. Good seats in groupings will get purchased.
-
With no fear of getting beat deep, having Santiago at WR may not have worked any better this year than Izzy or any other WR. I will say putting him at WR on occasion would have opened the possibility for him running the jet sweep which needs to happen.
-
How much stake do you put in a made up screen name typing their opinion? Recruiting, like sales usually starts and ends with relationships with coaches. Not the guy named “homer” that may not even be a fan at all.
-
Which back up players are talking about specifically?
-
If you jumped off the south Cat walk of the Alerus would they jump too? Still think when it’s almsaid and done season tickets are up next year.
-
Well, if this hurts their feelings they are in for an awakening at any college. Not high school anymore.
-
I actually think season ticket sales will be up again next year.
-
Who were the players that didn’t look the part this year? I asked earlier, you must have missed the post.
-
So which backups didn’t look the part in your opinion?
-
What happened now?

In my opinion the talent is better. Problem is youth. Physically guys just aren’t there yet. 3 years adds a lot of strength. We didn’t have anything for Jrs and Seniors up front. You can get by with one freshmen, maybe two or on the OL if pieces are right around them. Not good when you have 3-4 games when you are Fr, Fr, So, Fr, Fr across the front. Stockwell was very good, health was always an issue.
