Not only twitter. Just listened to the SDSU AD on McFeeley and he stated the same thing. Until UND is removed from the sanctions list, they will no longer place UND on any schedules.
-
I'm fairly certain that what happened 10 years ago under different leadership is not what is holding UND back from asking NDSU to give a public opinion.
-
Is it only NDSU fan that listen to KFGO? The original post was made to encourage people who support the change of the nickname to call in and get their reasoning out there. The young man on there openly has stated many times how he will vote and why, why is it that any one who calls in with a different point of view is trying to pick a fight with a Bison fan? Dan I know you have a hard on for UND and want nothing more than to claim UND is dragging NDSU into this mess but there has been no UND official who has asked NDSU for help. I know as many NDSU fans who are voting "yes" on the issue as are voting "no". The only difference is the ones voting "No" openly share the same thought as Gunderson and want to discuss how they are doing it to hurt UND. When someone is explaining how they are voting and they start out by saying, I'm and NDSU fan, is why they are involved. Its all about if you support the name or not, it has nothing to do with being an NDSU fan unless your using that to justify why you are voting the way you are.

Best of luck guys. Vikes need some help in the secondary. -
Did you figure that out all by yourself? Did you think his list was made up of schools with returning starters? And do you think a school with a returning starter at QB is going to use a scholorhip to bring in a transfer?
-
I hope your right as well. I would take consistency at 200 with limited turnovers. I think we'll still be a run first team but our offense needs to move the ball to keep the defense off the field this year. I know I am critical of our DB play last year but in fairness to them they were on the field way more than they should have been. If our QB next year can find a way to consistently move the chains, I'll be happy. Also, Hanson had family ties to North Dakota as well as his grandfather lived in Fargo. He encouraged him to add UND to his list of schools to call. That is how the initial contact was made. After a visit was lined up, the business school and the direction of the program sold themselves.

Are you Mel Kiper or something? How many UND scrimmages and/or pratctices were you able to take in this spring?
-
I'm sticking with a 4th place finish at best, but if I see a much improved secondary we could finish higher. Our secondary needs to improve dramatically, and it could, if we are going to finish higher than 4th. Prove me wrong boys.
-
If our secondary is improved we will finish higher than 6th in the Big Sky. I feel we are a better team than Cal Poly and have a good home/road schedule for our first year. After watching spring ball I think our offense will score points and our front 7 on defense will be up for the challenge if they can stay healthy. Secondary is my concern and if they show no improvement, we'll be a middle of the league team.

This is great news. Danny proved last year that he has matured and become a leader on this team. With the talent and the youth we have returning, his leadership will be as valuable as his talent. Great news Danny.

I realy like the coaches aggressiveness this year with the early jump on recruiting. I know they did a better job this year identifying juniors they wanted to get on campus for the game and camps and have obviously done a good job getting them here today, now hopefully that carries into getting some up for camps and some early commits. It can only help to get kids on campus. Nice work to the coaches.

Is the turf down all the time in the Fargodome? Last time I was in there, there was a homeshow going on. Thanks to all the bison fans for the concern regarding our facilities.
-
Makes a lot of sense for baseball. If UND is to keep the sport, it needs to get into the Summit and the Summit would benefit by adding UND.
-
White team wins, Braden Hanson is the breakout on offense and BJ Fifita has the big defensive day. I also think Spencer Cummings has a nice day on D as well.

Best part of the type of scheduling we could have is only one easy FCS non-conference. One or two very good, local, non conference game and if its a road game it is close for fans to travel. An an FBS if we want it. This wouldn't be possible if we were in the MVFC as these would obviously be conference games and we would have to pay a lot of money to bring in a couple cupcakes. I could see UNI being interested in scheduling a home and home as they are another team whose program is looking for money right now and would be interested in a close home and home.
-
And with real nice schedules in those two years. Kudos to Brian and the football staff for the work they have done with scheduling.* *Minus the School of Mines game this year.

We need him to be that guy next year. We have enough CB's with game experience coming back and need both guys to be solid next year with our inexperience at safety. Our CB's have always tackled very well for secondary players but hopefully next year with a new coach the 5-7 yard cushion we were giving at the line goes away and the coverage improves. Hopefully Brown can continue to improve and be a shut down guy and Mackey or Hall finally takes hold of the other CB spot and the secondary improves dramatically. If that happens, the defense will be real good next year.

We just had two scholorships open up didn't we. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/highschool-prep-rally/utah-basketball-pulls-scholarship-california-player-growth-related-185529935.html Just kidding, tough deal for the kid but it shows how hard it will be to find true quality this late in the recruiting process with our two free scholorships.
-
No problem. Your story was the exactly the same as this article but apparently since it wasn't published it carried no merit. I'm sure the guy who wrote the Forbes artcle knew we'd come looking and is just using these numbers as scare tactics.

When the nickname represents the sports teams and the only thing that will be drug down by keeping the nickname is the sports teams than I would say that its a major loss. They kind of go together. Some were DaveKs and Fletchs not long ago but as the whole situation around the nickname has changed, opinions are allowed to change as well. Just like Hakstol, I don't think any of us want the name to go, but the costs of keeping it now outweigh the benefits. If the Big Sky drops UND, Minnesota and Wisconsin along with others stop scheduling, and top recruits stop signing, DaveK and Fletch get to go about their everyday business and lose nothing. Hakstol, Mussman and others will have to deal with it head on and will be the ones who get questioned on why their programs are suffering. I'll take the opinion of those with some skin in the game over those posting under false screen names and nothing to lose everytime.
-
Wow Dave, I really hope you are kidding with some of these posts. There have been more people who have devoted more of their time and energy into UND programs than you ever will who have come out and openly admit it is time to change the name. Hakstol, Mussman, Lennon, Kleinsasser, O'Keefe, Martinson, Williamson and Klosterman come to mind right away. Don't forget Lamoureux admitting the team wasn't at all concerned about what was on their jersey before regionals started. These are guys have invested more "heart and soul" into building the nickname than you ever have and they are willing to part ways with it. I don't think they are selling their souls, I'd say they are able to not let emotion blind them and are willing to let UND do whats best for the athletic dept. They actually care about UND athletics, not the nickname attached to it.
-
I think the NCAA probably made it pretty clear in their 15 minute meeting with Al Carlson and the boys that they weren't budging on their stance. The timeframe of the agreement had passed. Even if Al won't talk about the meeting now, everyone was in agreement when they came back on where the NCAA stood.
-
Of course many were still in fight mode. We are proud of our athletic teams and very proud of the name. Did you think the name was just going to change without a fight? Do you think Bison fans would not let their emotions get in the way of their better judgement on an issue like this? I doubt it. I watched your fanbase spend two months writing newspaper articles, doing interviews and coming up with all types of conspiracy theories of why UND was voted into a poll. I can't imagine the emotion that would be shown on something such as the nickname.
-
I don't see the NCAA expanding the punishment to the entire state cause I don't think they want to drag anyone else into this. But as others have mentioned, when you have a school who is trying to retire the name and get off the list but isn't being allowed to do that by the state, maybe the entire state should fall under the same sanctions. Like I said though, I am not holding my breath that this happens nor do I want it to happen.
