  1. Is the turf down all the time in the Fargodome? Last time I was in there, there was a homeshow going on. Thanks to all the bison fans for the concern regarding our facilities.
  2. Makes a lot of sense for baseball. If UND is to keep the sport, it needs to get into the Summit and the Summit would benefit by adding UND.
  3. White team wins, Braden Hanson is the breakout on offense and BJ Fifita has the big defensive day. I also think Spencer Cummings has a nice day on D as well.
  4. Best part of the type of scheduling we could have is only one easy FCS non-conference. One or two very good, local, non conference game and if its a road game it is close for fans to travel. An an FBS if we want it. This wouldn't be possible if we were in the MVFC as these would obviously be conference games and we would have to pay a lot of money to bring in a couple cupcakes. I could see UNI being interested in scheduling a home and home as they are another team whose program is looking for money right now and would be interested in a close home and home.
  5. And with real nice schedules in those two years. Kudos to Brian and the football staff for the work they have done with scheduling.* *Minus the School of Mines game this year.

    Think Big

We need him to be that guy next year. We have enough CB's with game experience coming back and need both guys to be solid next year with our inexperience at safety. Our CB's have always tackled very well for secondary players but hopefully next year with a new coach the 5-7 yard cushion we were giving at the line goes away and the coverage improves. Hopefully Brown can continue to improve and be a shut down guy and Mackey or Hall finally takes hold of the other CB spot and the secondary improves dramatically. If that happens, the defense will be real good next year.
  7. We just had two scholorships open up didn't we. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/highschool-prep-rally/utah-basketball-pulls-scholarship-california-player-growth-related-185529935.html Just kidding, tough deal for the kid but it shows how hard it will be to find true quality this late in the recruiting process with our two free scholorships.
  8. No problem. Your story was the exactly the same as this article but apparently since it wasn't published it carried no merit. I'm sure the guy who wrote the Forbes artcle knew we'd come looking and is just using these numbers as scare tactics.
  9. http://www.forbes.com/sites/prishe/2012/03/11/athletic-success-boosting-academic-awareness-the-marketing-merits-of-march-madness/ The question has been asked before.
  10. When the nickname represents the sports teams and the only thing that will be drug down by keeping the nickname is the sports teams than I would say that its a major loss. They kind of go together. Some were DaveKs and Fletchs not long ago but as the whole situation around the nickname has changed, opinions are allowed to change as well. Just like Hakstol, I don't think any of us want the name to go, but the costs of keeping it now outweigh the benefits. If the Big Sky drops UND, Minnesota and Wisconsin along with others stop scheduling, and top recruits stop signing, DaveK and Fletch get to go about their everyday business and lose nothing. Hakstol, Mussman and others will have to deal with it head on and will be the ones who get questioned on why their programs are suffering. I'll take the opinion of those with some skin in the game over those posting under false screen names and nothing to lose everytime.
  11. Wow Dave, I really hope you are kidding with some of these posts. There have been more people who have devoted more of their time and energy into UND programs than you ever will who have come out and openly admit it is time to change the name. Hakstol, Mussman, Lennon, Kleinsasser, O'Keefe, Martinson, Williamson and Klosterman come to mind right away. Don't forget Lamoureux admitting the team wasn't at all concerned about what was on their jersey before regionals started. These are guys have invested more "heart and soul" into building the nickname than you ever have and they are willing to part ways with it. I don't think they are selling their souls, I'd say they are able to not let emotion blind them and are willing to let UND do whats best for the athletic dept. They actually care about UND athletics, not the nickname attached to it.
  12. I think the NCAA probably made it pretty clear in their 15 minute meeting with Al Carlson and the boys that they weren't budging on their stance. The timeframe of the agreement had passed. Even if Al won't talk about the meeting now, everyone was in agreement when they came back on where the NCAA stood.
  13. Of course many were still in fight mode. We are proud of our athletic teams and very proud of the name. Did you think the name was just going to change without a fight? Do you think Bison fans would not let their emotions get in the way of their better judgement on an issue like this? I doubt it. I watched your fanbase spend two months writing newspaper articles, doing interviews and coming up with all types of conspiracy theories of why UND was voted into a poll. I can't imagine the emotion that would be shown on something such as the nickname.
  14. I don't see the NCAA expanding the punishment to the entire state cause I don't think they want to drag anyone else into this. But as others have mentioned, when you have a school who is trying to retire the name and get off the list but isn't being allowed to do that by the state, maybe the entire state should fall under the same sanctions. Like I said though, I am not holding my breath that this happens nor do I want it to happen.
  15. It will probably be about the same feeling as UND losing the opportunity to host a playoff event as a result of a state-wide vote.
  16. And you think that the legislature gaining control of the University system will make this any better? Remember, your words, not mine....no whining.
  17. I've said UND has had opportunities to get rid of the name in the past and missed taking advantage of those. When Carlson introduced his law however UND was retiring the name. They were doing their part of the agreement with the NCAA, what more do you want. Are you saying everyone who voted for the state law in the legislature was a UND fan? Also, everyone who signed the petition to repeal the repeal was a UND fan? So not everyone who drug this out was a UND fan. I've stated many times that UND deserves their fare share of the blame but there is also plenty more to go around to some people who are none UND fans.
  18. Wyo, you are correct on this and have been very consistent with this from the start. Carlson used this emotional issue as a cover for what he really wants and there are UND and NDSU fans alike that can't see through it. In my opinion the education in the next 3 months starts there, the conference affiliation and scheduling conflicts along with other sanctions are also very important. Hopefully though when the Carlson's gang start flexing their muscle, guys like BisonDan and Johnson344 just "take it on the chin" like they recommend UND fans should have been willing to do when the retirement of the nickname began.
  19. All universities will get funding cut. NDSU's been asking for more money but I'm sure the will just "take it on the chin and quit whining" when Carlson gets power. If they only see what Carlson is doing as a nickname issue than so be it I guess.
  20. If the vote passes and Al's plan to gain control of the university system continues I can't wait until NDSU funding gets cut even further. I hope your president and fans just "take it on the chin."
  21. I don't think there is an argument about earlier opportunities to remove the name the current UND leadership was following the agreement that was made with the NCAA and taking action to retire the name. Just like other institutions that a name change has taken place there was a lot of emotion regarding the change. Illinois, Miami or even Dickinson St. changed their names and there was a lot of emotion from alumni and fans were displeased at the time and fought the change. Carlson used this emotional as a pawn in his game to get University control back to the legislature so he can control funding. Him speaking out about his meeting with the NCAA would go a long way in truely letting the people of North Dakota know where the NCAA stands on this but he is not going to do that. He knows they won't budge but without the vote passing, his plan will not be able continue. In my opinion, his may not be NDSU's issue now and I truely believe that there will also be NDSU fans who vote NO on the issue just to put it to rest. But if Carlson gets his way there will come a time that NDSU will be on the other side of the fence on an issue where Carlson and the legislature has power. It won't be a good feeling.
  22. Looks like this is going to vote. Sounds like it will be on the June ballot.
  23. Your right, if this was similar UND fans would run down NDSU's success in wrestling (sport we don't have) and talk constantly about wishing your wrestling team fails, to try and make us feel better about our programs. But we'll save our time and just beat you on the court. Judging by your reaction those losses this season really stung didn't they? And not to bring it up again but your players couldn't even leave UND out of their minds after they won the Nat'l championship. And on a day UND shouldn't even have been anywhere in discussion, it was brought up by players and fans to prove NDSU tries to compare themselves to UND anyway they can.
  24. This post pretty much sums up how Bison fans let their emotions get the best of them and post with no intelligence about a sport they "don't care about." First of all, it doesn't matter if you like hockey or not, people who are hockey fans will tell you U of M and UND are a big deal when it comes to the sport. You trying to argue that shows your jealousy of a program that you know nothing about. Second, so there wasn't a sellout on a Sunday evening game that was nationally televised. Not everyone is going to take Monday off of work or make the drive after the game and get home at 2:00 in the morning. I guess after a season when UND beats both your volleyball team and your basketball team you'll can do whatever you have to do to try and make yourself feel better about your favorite college.

    Jerseys

I really liked them as well. Would like to see the other colors but the white ones were sharp and the picture that leaked definately did not do them justice.
