Doubt it........From the article: "The ACC has long been a leader in intercollegiate athletics, both academically and athletically," said the collective ACC Council of Presidents. "Collectively, we all agree the grant of rights further positions the ACC and its current and future member schools as one of the nation's premier conferences."
-
It was a joke. As someone mentioned earlier, UND generally has a large percentage (majority) of players stick around for the summer.
-
Article in the USA Today that discusses the talking points of this thread. Good read and its going to be interesting to see what happens in the next year or two. I'd not want to be in a conference with a commissioner who is reactive right now. http://m.usatoday.com/article/sports/2097115

Is that when the high pay / low hour jobs started to get handed out?
-
Thier summer participation is due more to Coach Kramer than Bohl. From my understanding since after 2009 they get about 90% summer participation from returning players after mid-June. We generally have a lot of guys stick around but need it to be everyone.
-
It can't be required by NCAA rules, they are voluntary workouts.......however, a lot of programs make it "strongly encouraged."
-
Was anyone else pleased with the attendance today? It was a good turnout. Much better than last year. It was good to see and everyone got to see some good ball.

Defense looked pretty good today. Seems like the scheme was more simple but guys were just playing. They were hitting and getting after the O. Someone mentioned it earlier but I thought Butler played well at safety today. He is athletic enough to provide coverage but is physical and seems to enjoy filling the running lanes. Hopefully he keeps progressing and stays elgible. WR's looked real, real good today. Everyone contributed. QBs appeared to be as good as advertised. Another week of spring ball, this summer passing game and next fall and I'm confident with either Bartels or Molberg. I just hope the coaches don't have a quick hook with whomever starts cause they will make mistakes as a freshmen. I agree, Shaugby was our best running back today. Still think the O-line needs to have a big summer, need to get more physical. Overall- fun day today. I'm glad I made the drive from Fargo to check it out. This entire team needs to stick around this summer. We need to get stronger and continue to develop as a team. This has to be the message from teh coaches starting the day spring ball is over.

This, he looked good today and has looked good all spring. He throws a great ball. Bot QBs bring something different to the table.
-
I understand how it works.

While I don't disagree the first match up will happen in the playoffs, its not an absolute given it happens in Fargo. FU will probably be a top seed this year with all the experience coming back but that will not be a given every year after.

Thanks for the updates Teeder.

I'm not saying our season was fantastic. We let some games slip. Yet there was an entire thread on your own forum about how different your team was with your best player (Braun) out for some time. Most fans were defending the poor play of your team during that time due to one player being injured. Conveniently though, when you and other FU fans judge UND's team they leave out the fact that we played a majority of our non conference season without a mid-major All-American and our best interior player. Its a pretty convenient arguement to make on your end I suppose.
-
FU has already stated they don't want to travel. A scheduling alliance with other conferences is not going to change that.

Jake White from Chaska is transferring from Wichita St. and looking for a D1 school to finish his career. Sounds like he'd have 2 years of elgibility remaining. Would be an opportunity to add some size. http://www.kansas.com/2013/04/11/275...s-release.html

#butthurt- Your obsession has really been showing through the last couple days.
-
That is everyone in the Big Sky isn't it?
-
Who are you trading Oakland for? You feel confident Denver won't move to its 4th conference in 4 years soon? Thanks for your interest in UND football. You seem to have everything figured out.
-
You can make the same arguement for the Summit.
-
I agree. Big difference.

It would depend on how the money from the TV contract is divided up amongst the schools. I don't know the answer. If they decide to add a few more teams and renew the TV deal, that could be a lot of money if it is only split between 4-5 conferences instead of 10.
-
I'm sure this article with the Texas AD has been posted before. http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/story/2012-05-13/texas-william-powers-split-division-i-football/54959996/1

Follow Sic's link- Its being discussed more than on this board. Who know's the specifics but the idea is being discussed by colleges. Georgia Southern's radio guy even mentioned it in an interview with McFeely a few weeks ago and that factored into their decision of moving to FBS- get ahead of the split so your in position to be in Teir 2 when the split occurs.

Three things from the UNDsports update on spring ball practice 4: Thank you for the great coverage. Matt, Tom and Wayne- great work so far this spring. Keep it up. Molberg looks huge in the picture where Coach Freund is working with him in the pocket. He looks the part at 232 lbs. JJ Robertson comes across as a very well spoken guy in the rapid fire segment. Seems appreciative of the 2nd chance. And he looks absolutely huge for a WR. 20 lbs heavier than Hardin and faster. Once he shakes the rust off he could have a breakout season next year.

4 conferences of 16 teams will leave plenty of scheduling opportunities. This idea isn't unique to this board. Someone (either bin or Sicota) has posted links of it being discussed by Nick Saban and an AD or conference commissioner of one of the mid-level teams. They will get wins by scheduling one another.....so Minnesota vs. New Mexico would be replaced by Minnesota vs. Colorado.
