University of North Dakota Hockey 2019-20 Season

Where are people sitting? -
I call BS. The UW fans start leaving as soon as the second half starts. Just like everywhere in the country. I saw a picture on Twitter this weekend, unfortunately can't find it, of a maybe half full UW student section in the fourth quarter.

It's a university, not a sports club. Academics absolutely should come first! They are student athletes... Notice how the student part comes first? The point of a university is to prepare students for getting jobs and the promote higher education... Funding for academics should also be the top priority for an alumni association... If you want to donate to athletic give it to the athletic department, not the alumni association.

Correct. It would have been a booth review...

UND and Ticketmaster worked out a way using UND email that students will be able to transfer their unused tickets to other students.

https://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/story/news/2019/09/13/packers-fans-debate-when-stand-team-tries-fire-up-lambeau/1998745001/ You guys are a week behind the Packers on this sitting/standing stadium etiquette discussion... And the wave. The wave is ridiculously and needs to go away.

Move the students then we can all complain when even fewer students show up and even more leave early... You seriously can't have it both ways. You cannot force the students to the end and also expect them to show up and leave all of the cheering. If you move the students it's time for the general public to step up...

https://www.google.com/amp/s/sports.yahoo.com/amphtml/ucla-gave-away-tickets-to-oklahoma-game-but-fans-still-didnt-show-up-135550368.html UCLA gave every season ticket holder four free tickets to their game against #5 Oklahoma this weekend, the stadium was still shockingly empty and a majority Oklahoma fans. This is a nationwide problem highlighted by people not wanting to see a poor product on the field. While a "marquee matchup" increased UCLA's attendance from previous games it doesn't sustain the numbers if the product is not entertaining.

Except what would the points be for at UND? Tickets are already free and not hard to come by... You can't incentivize something that students already don't attend on a consistent basis. So unless the points go towards something related to hockey (and then we have to hear more complaining about how hockey gets all the attention and money) there is no "prize" for students.

Literally impossible or just more difficult? -
Oshie just revealed his third child will be a son... Perhaps our first 2038 recruit?
-
Gage Ausmus retired today too

How many repeat conversations can we have in one post... Let's wait and see how the season goes, how the student attendance is and what the overall attendance is before we begin this crap again.

You want UND to start an airline? You've clearly never heard the joke about how to become a millionaire in aviation...

On The Ralph's Instagram they have photos of the new banners including new conference championship banners as well. Those appear to be hung in the rafters but it is difficult to determine where as all you can see is the ceiling. Doesn't look like over the ice though.

Re: Memorial Union This seems like a very odd thing to do based on the fact that it was voted on and approved by the students. If he's so concerned about raising education costs why not freeze tuition, room and board?

University of North Dakota Hockey 2019-20 Season

Read the article. He played 45 games in the WHL, which is more than anyone else who then attempted to play in the NCAA. The penalty was unknown but apparently has been deemed too severe. They initial thought it would be a year and seven games. If it was going to be significantly more than that, it's likely more than half his college career. Why play in the NCAA if you can't actually play? -
How would that be great for UND? It's nowhere near campus and people living in the dorms without cars certainly don't want to take the bus downtown. I see zero benefits for UND

Is that the game where they sold tickets for $1? -
Let's play with two pucks... WAY more excitement! In all seriousness, I have tailgated at the Ralph, it was fun. But nobody is going to tailgate Nov-Mar. Perhaps the Ralph should get that jukebox app where people can pay to play a song (or snipit of in this case). Extra income, people will be more involved in songs they pick. The on-ice projection is cool but how's that going to help the atmosphere? It's not like they use it during breaks in play (I've only seen it as the Pepsi Center - used at intermission). And why? Why does it all start and end with the students. Season ticket holders and fans are allowed to start cheers and increase the energy just as much as everyone else. Get out of your seat (or stay sitting) and cheer...

Not at all conducive to flying. You're expected to fly three days a week every week.

Will those of us in Denver (and at work) actually get to watch this game on TV anywhere?
-
Anyone actually know where the team is?

You're a genius!
