  1. Fargo does not have a Midco channel, however, most of the smaller communities surrounding the F/M area do. In Fargo, they show Sioux games on Cable One ad channel 24, but no word that they will be showing the Wisco games as of yet.
  2. He is a Devils Lake, ND, native and played for Hakstol at Sioux City in the USHL. Until recently he had been practicing with the team and I saw him at most home games dressed in a suit and tie. However, last weekend, Blais said he is no longer practicing with the team and is focusing on his studies. It was a fairly ambiguous statement and I am not sure if it meant he needed to get his grades up or that he was no longer a part of the team. If he is a part of the team next year, I would not imagine he would be a big contributor, but I could be wrong!
  3. flatspin7, I think you are going to horribly disappointed with the announcers. They are not good from what I have heard in the past. You may find it more enjoyable to listen to TH while you watch the game.
  4. Please PCM and Hammy, for the sake of everyone else on this board, can you either resolve your issue(s) quickly or continue your agrument by email or private message. As fans, we have much more important things to focus on and read about than your quarrel.
  5. Oh my goodness, is this for real? I think Siouxrock may have played some goalie in the past and taken a few to many howitzers off the noggin.
  6. Just to clarify, I spoke with RT last week and he is the individual who is in charge of making the decision to move or not move the students and, if moved, to where. He assured me it is a done deal and indicated that it may be a one-year deal, but didn't specify. I have a hard time believing also that suddenly I will have prime, center-ice seats although my monetary contribution would not be considered large. I questioned him about this issue and he reiterated that it will be a straight swap, sections 108 and 109 to 112 and 113. Of course I will not get too comfortable in the center-ice seats because I know this is an issue that is far from resolved, but since I heard it from the horse's mouth, so to speak, it is hard for me to be overly skeptical at this point. However, between now and whenever they make their statement public, things could change and I could end up with egg on my face. I also agree that sooner or later the entire arena will be reseated, but it does not appear that it will happen prior to next season.
  7. The students are going to be moved to sections 112 and 113 where I currently sit and which happens to be the two sections directly behind the goal UND defends twice. The people from those sections will be moved to 108 and 109 and will have an option of getting into 111, if they so desire. This information is coming directly from Roger Thomas and will be announced to the public within a month. According to RT it is a done deal. Also, I was told my Rob Bollinger that the REA will install nets on each end of the rink, but likely will not do so until the 2004-05 season. I cannot imagine this infomation will thrill the students who will not only be moved but will also eventually have to watch the game through netting.
  8. At Saturday's game they had world jr. tickets available for sale and to my knowledge there was not a limit on the number of tickets you could purchase. My buddy purchased tickets for himself, me and three other friends. In fact, they ran his credit card at the game and issued him a receipt. We were told that we had first priority on seat selection. They also told us after they assigned seats to the people that signed up at the game they would open it up to FSC members at 10:00 today. I know there were at least 80 people above us on the list and perhaps that explains why some sections were marked off. I just tried to access the website and check the seating chart to see what it is going on, but I couldn't get in. Are other people having the same problem?

  10. I apologize for being petty, but because of all the trash the Maverick fans were talking on this and the USCHO board the last ten days or so, I was overjoyed to see their team absolutely get smoked. According to Grant Stevenson the Mavs must have thought they were playing in a beer league last night.
  11. Tickets are $455.00 for the games at the big REA and $197.50 at the little REA. You have to put $150.00 down for the big REA and have the balance paid in full by March 2004. All USA and Canada games except for one exhibition game for each team will be in GF. If you pay in full up front you get a free World Junior jersey, but only one per ticket package, not per seat.
  12. R. Hale is 6'2", 220 pounds, which is the same size as his brother. The only person on the team bigger is Matt Greene and he is 6'3", 224 pounds. According to the Providence Bruins site, Goren is 6'3", 205 pounds!!!

  14. Beersong, I don't know how early you want to get to the arena before the game, but the doors at the REA generally open 90 minutes before the puck drops. Since most seats (other than the students) don't typically fill up until warmups wind down, you would be able to grab a beverage at the one of the many beerstands and take it to just about any seat, plop down, enjoy the beer and the warmups. BTW, they do sell 32 ounce cups of beer for $5.50, which is a good deal. If you are planning on taking a shuttle from Dagwood's, most often the shuttle won't leave the bar more than 30 minutes before the game starts, but the shuttles are very convenient. If you haven't been to the REA previously, I would suggest getting there early because there is a lot to see. I hope you enjoy your stay in GF.

  16. I approached Brian between periods last night to assure him that Sioux fans are in his corner and supportive of him , but I made the mistake of mentioning the "spearing" incident at which point he became quite upset and was no longer interested in talking. It was very evident that he was troubled by the whole incident and who could blame him. Although my I had good intentions, I felt terrible for upsetting him. As the playoffs approach, I think it is essential to have Brian on the ice. The spark and energy he brings to the team are very important. Also, David Hale was walking around with Canady and looked to me to be much healthier than he was when I saw him at the Tech series. Hopefully, he will be back in the lineup soon.
  17. I know there are A LOT of Ranfranz supporters on this board, but I was at the game last night and he gave a less than stellar performance. In fact, I thought he played poorly last night and if his play was any indication, UND's goaltending situation is far from resolved. Also, I would agree with one of the earlier posters that the Maverick fans were quite rude. I have never been in an arena anywhere else where opposing fans directed one f-bomb after another at myself and my group of friends simply for wearing UND green and cheering for our team. A Maverick fan posted on USCHO last week that their fans are the best around. Sadly, I do not agree and find that posters statement laughable. I was sitting next to a group of Maverick fans, who were all in their 30's or 40's and every time Mankato scored they taunted us and called us motherf**kers and told us to go back where we came from. After listening to this without comment for two periods, I politely told them when they hang a D1 championship banner or a Final Five championship banner or a WCHA regular season championship banner they could chirp all they wanted, until then they are left to enjoy a regular season victory, which is really nothing to brag about. In another vein, it would be ridiculous to bring in Lamoureux next year simply to redshirt him. What would be the point? By doing that he would be robbed of a whole year of game experience. By remaining in Lincoln and with Ziggy being gone, Phil will be the primary tender there and will likely play 60 games or so. That would be much more beneficial than simply practicing with the Sioux for a year.
  18. Tyler is not the fastest player nor the most skilled, but he is, and always has been, a great passer. For those of you that don't recall, Tyler skated with Ruslan Fedetenko, who plays for Tampa Bay in the NHL, at Sioux City in the USHL before coming to UND. Ruslan was one of the leading goal scorers in the league that year, with a lot of the credit for that owed to Tyler. Another note, a couple of weeks ago Blais said on a pregame show that if Tyler didn't get hurt while in St. Cloud, which lead to him being out of the lineup for some time, he would have played a regular shift this year. Besides, someone has to break Parise and Bochenski out of their minor "slump." Why not Tyler?
  19. Speaking of Wisco, does anybody know what happened to Jeff Yurecko who transferred there after playing part of one season at UND? He was supposed to be eligible to resume play this year, but is not listed on their roster.

  21. Who should start in net? That decision is best left to someone on the coaching staff. Last I checked UND lost last night. Am I blaming the loss on Ranfranz? Absolutely not, but the fact remains, it was NOT a victory. UND is 1-4-1 in the last six games and each of the three goaltenders that saw playing time suffered losses during that stretch, however, their problems right now extend far beyond goaltending. Parise - one point in the last three games. Mugging or not, he has to be on the score sheet for UND to go far in the playoffs. Massen and Notermann (I know he is somewhat injured) where have you two disappeared to over the last month? Prpich, a month ago it looked like he could make a push for the WCHA all-rookie team, but no lately? Greene, he heeded his teammates advice and stayed out of the penalty box for all of two series. As it stands now if he gets 12 more penalties this season he will have the third highest number of penalties for a season in Sioux history. Now, if you are Jim Archibald and lead the league in scoring while taking penalties, that is acceptable, when you are rookie d-man it is NOT. He needs to stop putting UND in shorthanded situations. Please know, I am not ripping on the individuals named above, just trying to make a point. UND has won as a team all year and has lost as a team all year, good goaltending or not. In another vein, I agree with the administrator's post. I am sure Ranfranz is a great guy and I believe he has the potential to be a solid goaltender, but, I, for one, don't really care that several female posters think he is adorable. Who cares, what does that have to do with hockey? I also find it ridiculous that a poster is challenging the administrator of this free service. Having concerns about multiple accounts on the same computer is a concern for administrators of many websites. That poster should be damn glad this isn't POI or he would have likely been booted by now and then the opinions of his entire family wouldn't be heard, at least on this board.
  22. Blais said during the pregame last night that he only brought 20 players because only 20 players deserved to make the trip and he was sticking with those 20 players this whole weekend. Blais has spoken highly of Genoway and his potential in the past and perhaps not making the trip is meant to be a wake-up call to Colby and get him on his game.
