  1. It surprises me that more people haven't mentioned Blais as a candidate for coach of the year. UND consists mostly of sophomores and freshmen, and as a team they were picked to finish fifth in the WCHA but currently stand fifth in the national power rankings. The credit for that has to go somewhere. I am not saying he desires to win it, but he certainly merits consideration based on UND's results thus far. Perhaps most Sioux fans, like me, cannot see beyond the current goaltender situation and that is clouding our judgment.
  2. Sorry, that link didn't paste correctly. Clink the link listed above and then click INCH 4x4.
  3. As long as CC keeps winning, they will likely be the #1 seed at the West Regional in Minneapolis and if the Gophs make the tourney as they should, the NCAA will likely place them in the West Regional for financial reasons. Right now UND is #6 in the Pairwise rankings, which makes them a likely #2 seed, but not in the West Regional. If the season ended today, insidecollegehockey.com sees the regionals as follows: http://www.insidecollegehockey.com/section...polls_0119.htm#
  4. Unfortunately, Ziggy is not coming to UND next year. Blais never contacted him and contrary to what was posted on this board recently, Ziggy has not declined Sandelin's scholarship offer. He is still mulling things over, but will likely attend either CC or Duluth and may be leaning toward the Bulldogs. I realize the Sioux stable will be full of goalies next year, but UND has bypassed a quality young man and very solid goalie in Ziggy. And if the success of Potulny is any indication, Ziggy will likely shine no matter where he plays and will probably haunt the Sioux throughout his career. BTW, Siouxrock, r u inn colegge?
  5. PCM, Don't forget the 2000-01 season. Coming off a national championship, UND lost to Michigan Tech 5-4 during their first home game of the season, a game they obviously should not have lost. They also tied Tech on the road later that same season. Of course we all know UND ended up playing in the national championship game in 2001. Can the same thing happen again this year . . . . .
  6. According to today's Herald Blais said Hale won't play unless he feels 100 percent. And although he cannot possibly be 100 percent yet, it seems to me that Blais is leaving the door open for an earlier than expected return. It wouldn't surprise me to see Hale dressed for Saturday's game!
  7. On another note, although Tech has been playing fairly well of late, I for one, wouldn't look forward to playing the Sioux at the REA next weekend. UND needs to put the CC series behind them, bury the Huskies like they should and start building for the playoffs.
  8. Nathan, Blais may comment about potential recruits on occasion, but at least he doesn't send in his goons, i.e. Sonmor and Nanne, to bully and sway potential recruits. I know, I know, I know, Lucia had no knowledge of that situation, blah, blah, blah. Who really cares? Either way, it is an old and tired topic, not unlike the alleged comments Blais made regarding Crosby. In my opinion, the comments were within the acceptable parameters established by the NCAA and I am sure most Sioux fans would agree. Gopher fans and fans of other teams scattered throughout the country likely will not agree. But, none of our opinions matter to the NCAA so it will remain a point of contention, albeit a meaningless one. I, for one, hope we can move on and have some constructive conversations about more worthwhile topics.

  10. For those of you in Fargo, Cable One has confirmed that they will show both CC games on channel 24.
  11. It was advertised in the GF Herald and on a GF radio station last week that both CC games would now be broadcast throughout the Midcontinent network and would also be shown in Fargo on Channel 24. However, for those of us in Fargo I would hate to be sitting on my couch waiting for the game to start and then they don't show it, when all I would've had to do to see the game(s) is drive to someplace in the WDAZ viewing area, so can anyone confirm the above-listed information?
  12. Here is another link. This one lists the top scorers in ND. Look who tops the list as a sophomore. With his brother coming here in two years, perhaps Jacques won't be far behind. Also, his younger brother is in the top 25 as an eight grader. http://www.gfparks.org/ndaha/stateleader.html
  13. Here is another Parise article from the WCHA homepage. http://wcha.ocsn.com/sports/m-hockey/spec-.../012203aaa.html
  14. Handy, I think the slash gives all Sioux fans a newfound respect for Nick Angell!!!
  15. Assist added to McMahon on Fuher (UND's second) goal. Bochenski just scored from Fylling. Notermann just gets the hat trick!!!
  16. Luke Beverson is also listed - #98. Also, I believe these rankings were compiled before the recent world juniors were completed. After Parise's showing there, his up-to-date ranking is likely higher.
  17. I just returned from the monthly Fargo Sioux Booster luncheon and because the hockey team leaves for Alaska tomorrow Blais was not in attendance. However, Jeff Bowen discussed the world juniors championships set to take place at REA Dec. 2004 and into Jan 2005. He said at this point there is a possibility that current Sioux Hockey season ticket holders would have some priority in purchasing ticket packages for the tournament. And although it is not a given, it is something they are working on. He also informed us that there will be 30 games in 10 days and the attendance at the just completed world jrs. exceeded 240,000 for all games! Other than that and a few jokes about Schultz there was little news regarding Sioux men's hockey.
  18. That is really too bad. I am sure it has been a long and frustrating season for him.
  19. Does anybody have an update on the nature of Brian's injury and what the prognosis is? It would be really unfortunate if he couldn't play in his homestate this weekend!
  20. Sioux fans in Fargo who are interested there is a group of us going out to the Roadhouse bar in Horace to watch the game. The TV is not huge, 25" or so, but it is better than nothing. The bar has been contacted and they are expecting us and will reserve the TV for us. Join us if you can.
  21. My buddy and I just contacted Channel 23 out of GF and they did confirm that the game will be shown in GF at 7:00 tonight. For those in Fargo, however, the game will not be shown tonight.
  22. He may have been up for a week, but I believe he only played in one game.
  23. And although the first CC series is complete, it is especially interesting considering the many CC fans who felt, going into last weekend, that the loss of their two players, who didn't receive glowing reviews, was the equivalent of UND losing three players! According to the review in this thread by an impartial party, that doesn't seem to be the case!
