  1. During the recent ND high school hockey tourney, Blais said there were 4-5 legitimate D1 prospects on the GF Central squad (no names were given). If that is they case and they continue to develop I would assume UND would actively recruit them.
  2. As I stated before Ziggy was given a partial scholarship and, therefore, DB is not getting him for free. As for Parise, the fact that two other schools (UML, who turned out Wild goalie Roloson, and Mankato) looked at bringing him in tells me that schools other than UND believe he can play at the D1 level and that his signing is not simply a charitable act done to appease Zach!
  3. Ziggy was originally considered a walk-on, but when he signed his letter last week he was given money, a partial scholarship I believe, which would strongly indicate that he will be on the team next year. I simply cannot foresee Blais signing someone and putting them on scholarship at this juncture and then cutting them the next season. Besides that, Nate will bust his butt all summer to ensure himself a spot on the team. And based on what I know of Nate personally and what I have seen over the last several years, he will be a very positive addition to the team.
  4. I hope you fly planes better than Craig Dahl coaches hockey.
  5. Based on CB's radio comments this morning, Lammy is not one of the three. My bad for making the assumption.
  6. Yes it does; at the same time creating more questions for everyone regarding the goaltender situation for next season.
  7. We are both aware of Sedevie's scholarship being pulled and, therefore, do not believe he is one of the three that may be coming in.
  8. I have heard from a very reliable source that Blais has told Ranfranz and Sofie that they will not be invited back next season! Also, the same source is telling me that Blais is bringing THREE goalies in next year. No names were provided, but it is safe to assume that Ziggy and Lamoureux are two of the three. I have no idea who the third would be.
  9. Boo him? They would probably be so damn excited that they would riot! That is what they do in the TC when good things happen to their hockey clubs, isn't it?
  10. According to reports in the Fargo Forum a couple of weeks ago Brennan is back at home in West Fargo dealing with some personal issues, but although he didn't take part in spring ball he is supposed to return for the upcoming season.
  11. YD, The same could likely be said in reply to most of your posts.
  12. I apologize if this is old news, but haven't seen it posted anywhere. Anyway, I just heard on the news that the seating issue has "finally" been resolved. The students will be moved to section 111 and get the first five rows of a neighboring section. I am curious if that will be section 112 or 110?
  13. Agreed. It probably won't be as dire for the Mavs as I stated, but if Joseph leaves I will be shocked if they finish out of the bottom five next season, despite their returning players, coaching staff and the addition of Backes and others.
  14. If this is true, both Mankato and St. Cloud will be battling to stay out of the cellar next year. Well, as long as Anchorage is in the league not the cellar, but close. Sorry Mavs fans, but in my opinion, Mankato was a two-person team and one of those chaps is already gone and the other may be right behind. I do also know that goaltender Jensen, a senior next year who started 25 games this past year, is not coming back.
  15. I have golfed with Goon before and can assure you he shot the Gretzky on the front nine before giving up and heading to the bar.
  16. Why so bitter? If Vanek left his helmet on for the anthem, Gopher fans would think it is the coolest thing ever! Some would anyway. BTW, you want to talk about weird, how about John Pohl standing on the blueline after the anthem, staring into the rafters and talking to himself for a good 30-45 seconds while the rest of the team skated around him? That was one of the strangest hockey rituals I ever witnessed.
  17. I, too, was trying to interject some levity. But, I imagine it won't be long before the trashtalking commences from both sides.
  18. I don't think that means we should rule it out. It could very well still happen. And if not the Wild, perhaps another team.
  19. It is odd that someone would start a thread like that without identifying the party to whom they are referring. However, if it is a Sioux player and there is any truth to it, the player must be either Palmiscno, Canady or Connelly. Perhaps the poster just realized that Hale signed and thought that meant Blais pulled his scholarship?!
  20. Like Hale and Stevenson, Senja is not eligible for the playoffs because he wasn't signed before the NHL trade deadline.
  21. Dagies, I agree with your post for the most part, but here are some observations I have. UND's penalty kill sucked last year. The stats reflect that statement. 6th in the WCHA in PK and 4 tenths of a percentage point from being tied for 8th. That is not good. Over the course of their careers, K and J did a great job, but last year just didn't cut it and not as to just those two players, but the whole team. As for the power play, I don't know where UND finished nationally, but they were only 5th in the WCHA. With the talent they had, that is unacceptable. I hate to say this, but they need to take some lessons from the Gopher's PP. Every year, they have a very solid PP because they shoot the puck - pass, pass, shoot. UND seems to have difficulty with that concept on the PP. Their goal seems to be to run the two minutes down without getting the clock to stop. It is ridiculous - pass, pass, pass, stick handle, pass, pass, pass, stick handle, pass to the point where the point man (Lundbohm) attempts to put a weak wrister on net. What is that? Get a man in front and blast the puck and do it more than once during every PP. All in all I have felt that UND's specialty teams have performed poorly and below expectations for the last couple of years. That needs to change for them to have a good chance next year. As for leadership, they will have plenty of that. R. Hale was captain as a junior and he will be back. I see Schneider taking on a big leadership role and perhaps being an assistant captain. And although I don't recall it being discussed on this board, I think Parise is a natural born leader. When the season started he was often found alone in REA shooting pucks, then slowly more players began to participate and soon the majority of the team was taking part and they were able to sustain those type of things throughout most of the year. When a freshman, solely through his actions, can get virtually an entire team to essentially mimic what he does (get up early, skate, head to class, shoot pucks, go to class, practice, study, skate, etc.) that is leadership.
  22. Great point and something that has left me scratching my head since moving the students became an issue. On another note, the moving students issue may be "resolved" for the upcoming season, but it is far from over. As I have said before I sit in section 112. The individual who sits in the first row of that section is a dentist from the western part of the state. Anyway, he gives a huge donation to the FSC on a yearly basis. As such, when seats were being selected he had top priority and could've had just about ANY seat in the house and he picked six or eight seats in 112 so his kids and their friends could watch the Sioux during warmups and view the game upclose. If the students do get seats in 112, how do you think that individual will react? And, if he is not satisfied being moved, what will the "brass" do to appease him in light of his considerable donation every year? My guess, they will likely reseat everyone within the next couple of years (it was contemplated for this upcoming year). Regardless, this issue will continue to be debated years and years down the road because there is simply NO way to make everyone happy.
