  1. The week following the interviews was the original timeline for making an announcement. If there's an announcement Monday, it would be appear that the decision was fairly clear-cut.
  2. Looks like Van Diest has pulled his name from the hat- http://helenair.com/ Check the red scrolling text at the top of the link. Footballscoop also reports that Lennon will be offered the job today. IIRC, they also 'scooped' Bohl's hiring at NDSU. Wasn't Lennon offered the job at Sac State, but declined?
  3. I have a sneaking suspicion that UND will not have a very good I-AA program in 2011. Maybe a very good FCS program, but not a I-AA program. While MSU fans might be clamoring for Van Diest, they aren't the ones making the decisions. Heck, I don't believe that Bohl was even the third choice from Bison fans at the time.
  4. Honestly, what on the menu is so enticing at Texas Roadhouse? I'll have to try it next time. I've been to the one in Fargo four times (not my decision), and found the food to be mediocre franchise fare at best. The same opinion is held by others I know with any culinary experience or a decent palate.
  5. Congrats to Jason Hoffschneider! He will be on Team USA in the World Championship of American Football-
  6. The NCAA only recognizes the champion from the FCS. The FBS "champion" is crowned from the BCS, which is a separate entitiy from the NCAA. This is the official quote from the NCAA site-http://www.ncaa.org/champadmin/champs_listing1.html
  7. The maximum number of student-athletes that may participate in practice prior to the beginning of the fall semester in a FCS program is 90, so there are only 5 "preferred" walk-on spots available at a school that does not grant only need-based financial aid. A couple pertinent bylaws from the Good Book:
  8. There is no limit to the number of football student-athletes receiving financial aid in DII. The only limit is 36 equivalencies, split amongst however many. DI limits financial aid to 85 counters for both the FBS (85 grants) and FCS(63 equivalencies). Not quite three years- from the Good Book
  9. The Good Book says so:
  10. NDSU has counted actual "butt-in-seat" attendance since the 2003 season.
  11. NDSU and UND applied for membership in the Big Sky back then. An invitation was not extended. Congrats to UND on a HUGE win for the program!!! I had UND losing by 14 (31-17) in the thread on the AGS forum, but it looks like the Panthers bit off more than they could chew when UND stepped foot in the UNI-Dome.
  12. From the 2005.2006 NCAA DI Manual:
  13. Here's the list for all sports, all divisions- http://www1.ncaa.org/membership/membership_svcs/sponssummary
  14. Yes, that's correct. From the handy, dandy, 2005-2006 NCAA DI Manual:
  15. I wouldn't be too sure about this quote- IMO- After watching the NDSU/TCU game last year, women's BB for NDSU, and potentially UND, have a LONG way to go before competing for NC's at the DI level.
  16. Of course, the major difference being that NDSU fans are using information in the current DI-AA playoff selection handbook, as opposed to using the DII playoff selection handbook from three years ago that had been revised twice.
  17. 9 points is how many were awarded for UND's win over Ferris State this year.
  18. From what I remember, it was Dec. 1 in previous years, including when NDSU moved up. What I quoted above was from the 2005/2006 DI manual, and that states Sept. 1.Looks like the NCAA changed it.
  19. That is incorrect. The paperwork must be received in the NCAA office by Sept. 1 of the year that is declared the exploratory year-(it appears it was amended this year) From the handy, dandy, NCAA DI Manual : 2006/2007 would be the earliest UND could start the exploratory year.
  20. Obviously, as UND has numbers in that shady "Not allocated by gender/sport" column this year.
  21. Sac State's new president has stated that they will look over their entire athletic department, including conference affiliation. Some speculate that Sac State might possibly be looking at a DI-A conference, like the WAC, other speculation is a Big West conference membership for all other sports (would bring them in with a lot of other local schools and rivals-i.e. UC-Davis) with a possible Great West membership if they decide to stay in I-AA. Portland State is known to be Sac State's lapdog, so if a move is made by Sac State, PSU may also tag along. Of course, if Sac State departed, the Big Sky would be more likely to accept the Dakota schools. Sac State has been far and away the most vocal opponent to expanding into the Dakotas. PSU is thought to also oppose expanison into the Dakotas. There's always some rumblings from Montana fans about having an invitation in hand to the WAC, but it's doubtful that they will do that in the near future. IUP has mentioned it, nothing else that I've heard from other traditional powers.
  22. Too bad the AP versions are usually dissected to the point that they're only half the story that the original was. Just use BugMeNot if you don't want to register.
