  1. I'm very curious to see where our portal players end up. That will be quite telling.
  2. If anything, the current state of affairs will hurt local banks. Anyone with substantial deposits, or businesses, would be rather foolish to have their funds in a local bank over the FDIC limit.
  3. I remember Osiecki always had a memorable Don't F with me look running past the student section up to JK for the games. I recall thinking that he was a dude you wouldn't want to mess with.
  4. I had done a similar analysis. If you were given the total goals scored against UND and were asked how many should be in the first/last 2 minutes of periods the statistic answer would be correct. The problem has been giving up too many goals in general. The percentage of goals allowed in the first/last 2 minutes is right were you'd expect it to be.
  5. Would it not be better to give the benefit of the doubt to the coaches with decades of experience of coaching at a high level, who also played at a high level, and who literally watch the players every single day, over the armchair quarterbacks with none of the above?
  6. We are not screwed. We will contend for and win championships. All programs/businesses, etc have issues and have to deal with the practical realities of the current set of strengths and weaknesses. I don't see us being the next Blockbuster.
  7. Recruiting for FCS football and D1 hockey are two completely different animals. It's my thought that recruiting for FCS has to be one of the hardest jobs in college sports. The geographic pool of top hockey talent has changed quite dramatically over the last 40 years. Being a small rural northern town can be a draw for some, but it can also be a massive negative. By percentage, moving from the Minneapolis Metro area to the GF Metro area would be the equivalent of moving from Grand Forks to Beulah.
  8. On whom do you place the blame on this play? If you are a bantam coach, what is explained to the players as to what they did wrong?
  9. I believe it is treated as a typical business expense and taxable to the player.
  10. Any idea what the East v. West record is for the year? Last year the East was something like 34-0 at one point.
  11. I don’t know that the shot charts and effective shot percentages back this up. I can’t find anything to quantify that assertion. There’s no question that there are lapses. Are those lapses statistically significant or are they more noticeable and memorable due to the puck ending up in the net at a much higher rate when confronted with those situations? It probably a little of both.
  12. UND is near the top in the nation in fewest shots allowed per game, and is dead last in save percentage. We’ve played one more game than SCSU, given up 3 more shots on goal for the year, and have given up 33 more goals. Sure there could be better D, better back checking… but don’t kid yourself, the issue for this team is one dimensional. By almost any other metrical this team is very good. The goalies just aren’t stopping the puck.
  13. I agree. When I was a kid, a tornado warning meant take shelter as there is an actual fricking tornado. A tornado warning now means next to nothing.
  14. Some of the late Gino teams were simply out-classed. That isn’t the case with this team. This team is losing for a very different reason. At least there is the possibility of righting the ship, although that better happen soon.
  15. Absolutely, and I assume you would agree that in the legal context, that the specific rules, and volumes of precedent of the conflict rules, control that issue. i suppose violations of the conflict rules would also fit the impropriety language. I guess I’ve never heard of an “appearance of impropriety” violation, but it is not something I’ve looked into. Alright, enough of this… time to focus our attention on dismantling the Huskies.
  16. I completely agree. Optics matter. No entity wants the appearance of a conflict of interest for that reason. They would much prefer there are none. My beef is more that folks jump on an appearance, without facts, which often times is nothing, and some innocent entity/individual suffered the unjust consequences
  17. Which “resolved” the “appearance of conflict of interest” which means, nothing. if there was an actual conflict that would be a potential termination worthy offense.
  18. As a respected and wise jurist frequently said, bringing a claim for an appearance of conflict of interest is beyond sophomoric. There is either a conflict or there isn’t a conflict. If someone is bloviating about the appearance of a conflict of interest, tune them out. If there is an actual conflict of interest, with actual facts to support the claim, that’s something worth discussion. What a shock that this is a giant pile of nothing.
  19. What is the difference between a message board poster claiming an "appearance of conflict of interest" and an "actual conflict of interest"? A distinction without a difference it appears.
  20. What, specifically, is "this"?
  21. Many posters need to go take (or retake) introduction to logic. The conclusions being drawn from the available information are absolutely insane. Reminds of an 80 yr old aunt that takes a rather innocuous piece of information and spins it into some crazy convoluted story.
  22. Folks think that Berry would risk decades of good will, and his professional name, for a few bucks on a few jerseys? There was absolutely nothing surreptitious about this. If you're trying to hide something this ain't how you do it. Some of the speculation is completely bonkers. Risk your livelihood and reputation for $100,000?... come on... If there was something nefarious by Berry it would be an all time bonehead move. I don't see it.
  23. ...or she could have thought she could make some $ and Brad had a fatherly conversation with her. Could be a ton of different reasons...
  24. I'll throw my guess as to what happened... UND's attorney was of the opinion that NODAK, as presented on the jersey, did not need to be trademarked. Jersey's made. Berry's daughter obtained trademark and has received nothing from the University. The motivation behind obtaining it, I have no idea. I see no way that Berry would facilitate payment to his daughter for this. That is so clearly a conflict, and I just don't believe it's in his nature at all to do something so stupid.
  25. I'm doing a cursory review, but I don't see just "North Dakota" as being trademarked. It it was, it would be a specific color/font... I do see that UND had these (2) but they indicate as expired.
