The law of PA appears to be very clear that the ballots need to be received by 8:00 on the day of the election. Whether that is the best way to handle it is a completely separate question. Another Alito quote: “It would be highly desirable to issue a ruling on the constitutionality of the State Supreme Court’s decision before the election,” he wrote. “That question has national importance, and there is a strong likelihood that the State Supreme Court decision violates the federal Constitution.”

Thanks. Looks like he Supremes punted and indicate they will need to address this issue again. The issue will be interesting in relation to the Covid restrictions implemented across the country and civil suits brought concerning them. This is a quote from Alito: The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania has issued a decree that squarely alters an important statutory provision enacted by the Pennsylvania legislature pursuant to its authority under the Constitution of the United States to make rules governing the conduct of elections for federal office,” It will be pretty interesting if this matters, and the court with Trump appointees has to make the call.

I was trying to read the Penn. statute on my phone. It looks like the ballots need to be received by 8:00 pm on the day of the election to be counted. https://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/Legis/LI/uconsCheck.cfm?txtType=HTM&yr=2020&sessInd=0&smthLwInd=0&act=12 Sounds like another situation where what was told to folks, and what the law may be, are quite different.

True. Ideally there would be a uniform mandate on this issue so there is some continuity among the states, but it appears this is a state issue. Without looking it up, I'd guess the absentee votes from the 1970-199s were a very small amount. With the unprecedented volume of absentee ballots this year it's not surprising there are issues, and that the States were unable to get legislation in place to address the issues.

BIden now only -330 in Arizona and -400 in Nevada, but up to -165 in Pennsylvania.

Current State Odds: Arizona - Biden -1600 Georgia - Trump -150 Michigan - Biden -800 Nevada - Biden -650 N.C. - Trump -550 Penn - Biden -145 Wis - Biden -1200

Unfortunately, it does for too many folks...

I find this extremely difficult to believe. At a minimum UND knew everything long before he stepped foot on campus. I just can't fathom that the staff wouldn't do a google search on a potential recruit. If I'm seeing this stuff without looking for it I see no way the UND was not aware. I found Brad Miller's thoughts interesting. He indicated that the staff gives a fair amount of weight to the current player's impression of the recruit, and that they have not offered high-end players for concerns about their character and fit.. I'd be curious as to what happened in this situation.

Another ramification of previously shutting stuff down. In addition to the dramatic drop in cancer diagnosis, there is a pent up demand for other medical services which were needlessly put off while the hospitals/clinics sat empty. Now the "crush the curve" strategy is actually going to lead to a shortage of space. Chalk it up to "unintended consequences" which were completely obvious to anyone with a hint of common sense.

There was an interesting discussion on CNBC this morning concerning undecided voters, and voters indicating that they are leaning slightly one way or the other. The focus group firm indicated that the overwhelming conclusion from these folks is that these voters are weighing the abrasiveness of Trump's personality vs. the bad policies of Biden. He indicated that 87.5% of these voters favor Trump's policies, but approximately the same number prefer Biden personally. He did mention historically undecided voters late in a race tend to vote for the challenger over an incumbent.

2020-21 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
Walsh Hall replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
Anyone know the percent of revenue generated in the NCHC from ticket sales? Seems like the expense of this would be problematic given the lack of revenue. The loss of game day related revenue for UND would not be inconsequential to the athletic department. -
I 100% agree. The ramifications of either party trying this would be dire and lead us down a horrible road.

FWIW, Bismarck and Mandan are planning to go back to full in-class learning very soon. They are trying to balance the health concerns with the mental health of the students and the serious education concerns with distance learning.

Thank god Rocco wasn’t managing the team in 1991. He’d have pulled Morris after 5.

I agree. Looks like Buxton, Berrios, Rosie, and Rogers are near the end of their arbitration years. Will need to make a decision on them. I'd like them to lock up Buxton and Berrios and pray Buxton stays healthy. I enjoy the excitement Rosie brings, but with some highly touted prospects I assume that Rosie is gone. Cruz is a FA. I wonder if he'd want to stick around for another year.

I'll be curious to see how the baseball folks evaluate the play with the short season. I was expecting big years from Kepler and Garver and they were simply awful. Polanco and Rosie were okay, certainly not great. Sano is Sano. Should be an interesting off-season.

If Kirilloff is the best option in a do or die game, why wasn’t he getting at-bats this year?
-
Jeffers and Buxton in the lineup. Surprised by the Kiriloff move. I haven't seen if that was done to preserve a year of service under the SBA opposed to if he were called up earlier.

Do you believe that he does his own taxes? For an individual like him, and his multiple business entities and dealings, there are probably a couple full time accountants that handle that side of things. You think that Donald has direct communication with the IRS? No chance. What does Trump own in his own name? I suspect next to nothing. The same is true for Mark Cuban or Oprah WInfrey, or any other successful person with their hands in a ton of businesses. They don't have time to be doing their taxes. They have multiple entities to protect them from liability. They have a team that is told to utilize every tax break possible.

Fargo going that way, western ND schools planning to go full in-person learning in October.

Long story short, without a ton more information it is not possible to say that the transaction was inappropriate. The transaction was reported by both parties, and reported as income to Ivanka.

Current Presidential Odds: Trump -110 Biden -120 If you're bored, look up the prop bets for the debate, they are hilarious. One that is oh so telling... Who will CNN declare the winner of the debate? - Biden -700 Who will Fox News declare the winner of the debate? - Trump -700 Parlay those two bet and put down every penny you can come up with. There is no chance either loses.

For anyone who is knowledgeable on the subject, how did things de-escalate after the Kent St. shooting and the turmoil of that era? From what I have seen and read, that seemed like a complete tinderbox ready to blow. Tin soldiers and Nixons coming...

Like with most things, the amount of the debt is irrelevant without context. Amazon is about 25 billion in debt. Apple has around 110 billion. Having a bunch of debt can be a real bad thing or a really good thing depending on many other factors.

Do you think that Trump, or any other high net worth business owner for that matter, does their own taxes? If you take any individual who is very wealthy and owns multiple businesses, you'll be able to find issues which are questionable (or open to debate) on their taxes. There is a ton of gray area in the tax code. I guarantee that he has his accountants do all the work and tells them to do what they can to minimize has net tax obligation. It's no different than any other person I know, or folks filing taxes with a W-2 who qualifies for the earned income credit. If the tax benefit is there people are going to take it.
