If NODAKS was the school moniker that would be a secondary meaning outside the standard connotation and would be a valid trademark. As the school name is not "Nodak" it could be assumed that "Nodak" is just the common contraction for North Dakota and thus not trademark protected. I don't believe that "North Dakota" was trademarked when that was on the hockey jerseys.

A search on the ND Secretary of State's website shows a ton of trademarks/business's which include Nodak. I see that UND has "Nodak Nation." I'm not so sure just "Nodak" would survive a legal challenge as a trademark.

On the bright side, gotta love a back door cover.

So, if the bids are in the same ballpark the higher seed gets the game, if the lower seed blows the higher seed out of the water with their bid they get the game. As previously mentioned, just seed the teams and higher seed gets home field.

The money needs to come from boosters. There isn't 200k sitting around at the end of the year to cut a check. I have no idea what arrangements Chaves tried to make, but I'd imagine a school would want to have the money lined up well in advance in case it's needed. Feel free to contact Chaves and guarantee a pledge for next year's playoffs for 50K, 20K, or even 10K to get that bid started. I'm sure the program would greatly appreciate it.

He's earned over 8m and played 354 NHL games as a 24 year old. What an underachiever.

That year when Johan and Liariano were cooking was an entertaining summer. Made batters look like absolute fools.

Do other similarly situated institutions have NLI groups? If so, do they generally try to provide a payment across the board to all players or use the funds to try to attract specific higher end athletes. I don't have a clear picture as to how to best utilize NLI at the FCS level to try to achieve a competitive advantage.

Carson Wentz taking Philly err Indy err DC by storm

Why people wouldn't support the local kids, and actually belittle them, is beyond me. Just having a cup of coffee in the NFL for a ND kid is something to celebrate. I don't recall Jim K or Phil H getting the crap that Carson does. He's only the 27th best QB in the world? Oh god, let's disown that guy. -
The Twins have 23 quality starts this year. Worst in the AL. I believe there are (2) major reasons for this horrible stat. One is on the pitchers, the other is on the manager.

That's not because the shot isn't considered holed, but to prevent damage to the cup or lip. Not a rule of golf per se, but certainly good manners and golf course etiquette. Similar to pulling the ball out of the cup with your putter.

It's extremely well documented that the younger generations have a propensity to prefer the flexibility of "apartment life." Statistically they are more liking to frequently change jobs and to relocate. Their spending habits and priorities are statistically different than older generations. There is a measurable different is favoring experiences over possessions. Less of that demographic has the goal of a classic home ownership model. It's not a coincidence that higher end apartments with many amenities (dining, coffee shop, services, entertainment space) are becoming more popular.

It wouldn't hurt to get an inning or two more from the starters as well. Getting 4/5 innings from the starter adds to the bullpen strain. In the (5) blown games the bullpen pitched a total of 23 innings.

I have zero information about the particulars of this situation. That said, the administrative process which was followed is completely different than a criminal proceeding. The statement that he was "charged" is misleading as best. He was not criminally charged with anything (outside a DUS). The evidentiary rules, finders of fact, and burden of proof are all vastly different in the admin proceeding vs. a criminal case. The standard to charge him criminally would be much more analogous to the final admin burden. The alleged victim does not charge anyone, the State (or Feds) does. I'm making no statement about Otis, but when anyone comes before an administrative tribunal the odds are incredibly stacked against them. When the situation involved an institution of higher education, the odds get much much worse.

2022-23 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

Do you have any idea on how Berry has handled the scholarship dollars? Who's scholarship dollars were cut or eliminated to bring in the (4) Freshman(F)? How does Berry pushing non-scholarship players to the portal assist in bringing in a scholarship player? Do you believe Spicer would come in with no scholarship? None of this is just a simplistic player-for-player analysis. -

I think the point is that having Budy go to the portal will NOT free up any scholarship money. -

Jost isn't star, but he's a solid NHL player who has earned more than 10m and is still in his early 20's. While we would have loved to have him another year, the kid's done pretty well for himself and his family. -

Caught a big break by having Minot lose their first game and not facing them in the come back game. The bottom half of the west was pretty even (and very bad). I can’t imagine a 9 seed had ever qualified for state. -
I don't know what you guys expect. Compared to comparable communities we get way more blue-chippers. Like it or not, Michigan, Minnesota, Boston Schools, etc... have a huge advantage with many kids over a GF, Duluth, Mankato... based on the city. For a kid from a metro area, moving to GF is more of a shock than someone from GF moving to Hazen for college. Throw in that there are around 5 "blue-chippers" each year we aren't getting one every year. The number of high end guys we get is really quite amazing.
-
It appears, on average, there are 5/6 "blue chippers" per year. Out of those, a good chunk have to be basically unrecruitable based on ties to particular programs. There's probably around 3 "blue chippers" per year that are actually in play. Every team is in on those guys. Landing one of them every few years is pretty impressive. Our facility and history are second to none, but living in GF has to be a big turn-off to some of those kids. Over that last decade how many recruiting battles has Minnesota won? Their blue-chippers all seem to be guys that aren't going to seriously consider other schools.

No other teams were interested in Sanderson?

If the current team is anything like teams of the past, the players would kick his butt if he was selected for the Olympics and declined.
