Its too late. The disservice has already been done. You can't suddenly change the way you've been calling the entire season and expect the teams to shape up in two weeks. It should have been done weeks ago, like sometime in October.

He will never be the same.

Oh my!! There goes any chance of using the lady label.
-
We rested the DOT line to save them for the playoffs.

SCSU slashing penalty at the buzzer. Sioux will start second on the PP. Time for Duncs to add to his total.

Game observations from Friday night: 1) overall the Sioux looked good, all lines. Vandevelde had probably his best game of the year. If that is an indication, things will be good. 2) Lammy played well, but the SCSU 2nd and 3rd goals should not have been. Their second was an unscreened slap shot from between the point and the faceoff circle right at the five hole. Any WCHA goalie should have stopped that one. One their third goal he just couldn't control the puck. 3) JBSU can't do a cheer without the word "suck" in it. 4) The DOT line was snake bitten. One very clear pipe and they missed a couple of open nets. Toews seemed to have problems keeping the puck on his stick while trying make some moves. You get so used to seeing him do it, that you are surprised when it doesn't go as planned. TJ was his usual self all over the ice, and Duncan was a pest. The DOT line could have easily had 4-5 goals or more with just a couple of bounces. 4) Kaip took an absolutely stupid penalty in the first. 5) Sioux defense got caught a couple of times coming in two deep, which created odd man rushes, but Sioux did pretty well covering up and Lammy took care of the rest. 6) JBSU can't do a cheer without the word "suck" in it. 7) Husky fans got upset when Sioux fans did sieve chant on Goepfort. 8) Porter played an outstanding game, even drawing a penalty with his hustle when the Sioux were shorthanded. 9) Lee seems to have figured out some of the things he hasn't been doing that need to be done. He made his presence felt last night and looked pretty good. 10) JBSU can't do a cheer without the word "suck" in it. 11) The Sioux could have/should have won the game. They are playing well as the playoffs start next week. They could win the Final Five and it wouldn't be a surprise. Let's hope the Sioux win tonight and Denver loses or ties. 3rd place would be great heading into next week.

It was a pure hatty. All three in the first.

Saturday night when St. Cloud beat the Gophers, almost all of their scoring was from people who don't score much. One goal was the player's second of the year, one was the player's third, one was the player's fourth, and one was the player's sixth. It was the empty netter at the end that was scored by one of their top scorers. I know that the Sioux have had games where the D-men and non-DOT lines have led the scoring, but that has been a few games ago. As for the 10-second shift comments, that is ridiculous. The second and third lines have had plenty of ice time. In a number of cases, the #2 PP group has been out on the PP first. They are getting ice time. The fourth line gets the short end of the stick most of the time, but it depends upon penalties and what the other team is doing.

And that has me concerned. Over the past 12 months, Forney has been one injury after another. It started in the MN State Hockey tournament. He has had at least three significant injuries in that time period. Cause for concern.

Miller, Fabian, Kaip, Porter, Kozek, Watkins (if playing) - It is time to step up. The DOT line cannot be expected to carry this team. They had 9 points last night and the Sioux lose. Someone else has to contribute or it will be a short post season.

Is there a place where Sioux fans or Alumni will be gathering on Friday before the game. Would sure like to join in the festivities with other posters and Alumni. Is the Alumni Association sponsoring anything?
-
PCM, well said. I did send an email to Little Nikki, which certainly didn't have your eloquence. I did question his credibility, and pointed out that UI has done nothing to show UND anything. At best, they are now on the same basis as UND from a logo/mascot perspective. At least I managed to not use any four letter words and did not question his heritage.

Oh dear. My high school used the music to On Wisconsin for our school song, with different words. I suppose that they are on the next hit list.

Siouxman replied to BismarckFan's topic in Men's Hockey
Ahem. So, what position will Holy Cross have on the poster?? Sorry - I just couldn't resist. I know, it will actually be on the regional poster! -

I have one extra ticket available for Friday night, March 2nd. It is Section 202, Row 3. The seats are on the end where the Sioux shoot twice. Will let it go for $25. It cost me $31.50 with the Ticketmaster handling fee. Available to a Sioux fan only.

You might have the start of a desert Sioux fan club down there. Keep up the good work.

Yah know, you just seem to have that something that brings out the worst in some people. That is quite a track record you are developing. Definitely the makings for a tell all novel some day. You seem to be down a bit today after your Prpich stalking episode. Is there a story to tell there?

Need tickets for the UND/SCSU game Sat 3/3
Siouxman replied to mn_sioux's topic in Tickets wanted / for sale
I have nothing available for Saturday night, but I do have one for Friday night if you hear of anyone looking. -
Yes, that shot was from a number of years ago. It is legal because the puck is on the stick. It has been done several times.

Yes the NHL game has changed, and for the better. But one think is still there, and that is the need for strong corner play, and Porter does bring that. Many times on the penalty kill he has taken the puck into the offensive zone down into the corner, and kept it tied up against 2-3 opposing players. He can play the corners and side boards very well, and that is what he is built for. I don't care what league you are in, you do need guys with the capability to do that. When Porter was a freshman at UND, he impressed me far more than Brady Murray did coming in. He was also scoring much more than Brady Murray. Then, Murray got paired up with Zach Parise, and Porter was moved into a checking/muscle role. That is where the divergence began. I would love to see Porter paired up with a couple of playmakers for once, so he could use his size and strength in front of the net. I believe that you would see a much different player from a scoring perspective. How that translates into an NHL role is anyone's guess. He has impressed the Blackhawk's in camp. That says something. Maybe they were looking for different things than how he has been used at UND. And maybe they see that those things are there but haven't shown because of the role he has been in at UND A lot of it is luck and timing. Hrkac never made it big in the NHL, but he came into a league dominated by size, clutching and grabbing. It would be interesting to see how a young Hrkac would do in today's NHL. My gut feel is that he would have more of an impact. Plain and simple we have no idea how Porter will do, but it will be interesting to see how it all turns out.

Sheesh - We hadn't heard anything from you since your short mouthing off stint during the Friday night thrashing of the Gophers by the Sioux. You snuck down into your hole pretty quick when the Sioux took the lead. Finally got the nerve to stick your head out of the hole and pretend to say something you consider worth saying??
