What I noticed most of the time was that the BC did not try to "win" the faceoff with their player. Instead, his sole purpose was to tie up our center and then have another player come in and take the puck. That seemed to work most of the time. It also resulted in a number of scrums where the puck was caught up in the players' skates and no one could get control for a while.

Those that left after Thursday night lost out on a good time. Yes, the Sioux lost, but there was so much more to the experience than that. Unfortunately we didn't find Union Station until Saturday afternoon, but we found plenty of other things to enjoy. And Saturday night's hockey game was great fun, even without the Sioux. Much better than WI-BC last year. And finally, we met some posters that we already knew, and we met some new ones. We also met with old college friends and just had a great time. The Drury Plaza was great, and I can't compliment the staff enough. All of them were cheerful and helpful, and a very positive reflection. The one thing that I did learn is that dancing on the bar must be a very common occurrence in the bars.

UNDLAW, Thanks for your efforts in making the name tags. We were at Al's both before and after the game and couldn't link up with you to pick up our tags. Just bumped into you at the arena for a brief minute. Thanks again.

It was a great game to be at, much better than last year's game. Very happy to see BC lose, as Boyle seemed to be playing for himself and not his team. Also, Gerbe is a cheap little skater, throwing punches, running into and slashing the goalie, etc. He will get his clocked cleaned someday with that crap. Way to go MSU.

Don't you realize that this was a joint conspiracy by Maine, UND, and Michigan State against the evil eastern empire and their leader, Darth York?? We all conspired to make them over confident.

Explain your take on the game here...don't complain just explain

In my opinion I thought the officiating was a little one-sided. The physical abuse of Duncan and Toews was horrendous, without any penalties being called. Duncan got absolutely leveled from behind without the puck. There were several instances where BC took advantage of the ref looking the other way, and the AR not stepping up to do the right thing. Boyle wrapped his arms around Toews several times in front of the net, and once pulled his stick out of his hands and threw it to the side. Another time he flat out elbowed Toews in the head. I was a little bothered by some of the BC crap that wasn't called, but since the game I have talked with fans from other schools and they were much more upset at the officiating than I was. That includes MN fans, Denver fans, Michigan State fans, and others. They unanimously thought UND got the shaft on the last two Porter penalties, the Finley elbowing call, and the non-calls on BC. The speed of BC caused problems. There were several times where the puck did not get put deep into the BC zone for a line change, and the Sioux had to scramble to get back into the play. Then on the penalty kill, especially in the second period, the Sioux could not get a line change in and wound up with a very tired group on the ice. This loss did not bother me as much as the loss last year did. This team led us on a wonderful ride since Christmas, and now we can only hope that they hang around to let us enjoy it again next year. Thanks much guys. -
I don't believe that I have made a judgement either way. My only statement concerning the deal is that you can't make a judgement that it is a good deal based on the info provided. Those supporting the deal have simply stated part of the critical info and erroneously claim that justifies as a good deal. However, now that it appears that the building was actually purchased by a foundation and not NDSU (if I understand that correctly), depending upon what the lease states NDSU (and by default the State of ND) may or may not have accepted some future risk with the lease. Without seeing the lease, it is impossible to tell. At the very least, NDSU could have (should have) at least informed some key legislators and legislative leaders about their plans (maybe they did), and presented the deal and explained to make sure egos weren't bruised. Right or wrong, politics is the game.

I won't believe it until I see a link or he publicly announces it himself. None of this my sister's husband third cousin on the left hand side talked with a friend of Triouxp's son.

Please add Siouxman (Bryan), Mrs. Siouxman (Karen), Morley (Jeff) and Keikla (Jenn) to your list of nametags to make. Thanks.

Yeah it's tough to be cramped in with family, but I'd take cramped and "free" than riding on a bus and "paying my own way" anytime.

mikejm - I'm on board with you on this one. This is scary. Could be the start of a whole cult thing. Based out of the Italian Moon, no less. Triouxp - Are you listening? You have become the shining(?) example for many lost souls. You are the Pied Piper of Sioux hockey. Now step up and head to St. Looooie.

No, he certainly isn't. But he has resurrected a derelect hockey program and the unfortunate part is that much of the college hockey world has the infamous bias that doesn't recognize the worldly greatness of the WCHA.

Congratulations Dave. However, I am afraid that Jeff Jackson of Notre Dame will be tough to beat.

1. Hrkac Circus, hands down. I wish everyone could have a chance to see their highlight reel because they were incredible. Hrkac alone had 114 points in 1986-87. DOT line just broke 100 points for the year several weeks ago. I know it is a different game today but the Hrkac line stands alone. I seem to recall a weekend at Michigan Tech where this line had 30 points in the two games. 2. Taylor, Smail, and Sykes - This was when Sykes was a freshman I believe and as a group they had over 200 points. IIRC Taylor and Smail had at least 8 short-handed goals that year. Tayor and Smail both had 80+ points. 3. DOT Let's face it, the Sioux have been blessed with many fine players and we are spoiled to the point where we expect it.

Sorry, but you are missing the point. Buying and remodeling are the upfront costs. The ongoing costs of ownership (maintenance, heating, cooling, repairs, modifications, etc.) go far beyond that. In many cases those costs will outweigh the upfront costs when you do a life cycle evaluation (which happens to be my business). With a new building you may pay more up front, but you can design in many features and items that will reduce operating costs and long run ownership costs. Buying a used vehicle will save you on upfront costs, but cost you more in the long run because of higher maintenance, poorer gas mileage, etc. So far we have only seen part of the picture, and you cannot make a valid judgement that it is a good deal on that.

Tickets arrived today - IT'S A GO FOR ST.LOUIS.

You will never forgive yourself if the Sioux bring home #8 and you weren't there laying in the aisle to experience it.

I believe that is was because they wanted to get Genoway on the blue line because of what he can bring. Radke can bring some positive things at the forward position, because he plays with an edge. Unfortunately, he is too often on the wrong side of the edge.

SIOUX - EAGLES - BLACKBEARS - SPARTANS, Frozen 4 thoughts, prediction
Siouxman replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
No he shouldn't. He got a game misconduct, not a game disqualification. The disqualification carries the suspension. The speed of BC is what concerns me. The Sioux struggled with it last year, and they struggled with it against Michigan. They cannot afford to come out slow and then pick it up later. More than anything else, it will be the speed of BC that the Sioux will need to contend with. The other key is how much room the DOT line will have to maneuver in front of the BC goal. If they have the room, I don't care who is in net. -
I watched the post game show, and I came away with a feeling that Michigan didn't respect ND at all, even after losing. The attitude was clear from Red down through Hensick.

The facts of the matter are: 1. NDSU is owned by the State of North Dakota. Whether or not the buildings were purchased with private money is immaterial, as they will require funds to operate and maintain into the future. Unless NDSU has made a commitment or has commitments to fund those buildings with totally private funds in perpetuity, NDSU has made a commitment for the State of North Dakota's future funding without state input. 2. While the ND legislature does not have the oversight currently of the NDUS that it previously had, keep upsetting the wrong people and that can be changed back. Anyone that has half a brain and deals with the political realities should know that you have to cover the bases if you are going to take action that might ruffle some feathers. You need to understand politics, it is all emotion and very little logic. What seems logical does not matter in this arena. On top of all of that you have personal egos and agendas, on all sides of every issue. One of the first casualties in the political arena is truth. And if you disturb the political waters and bruise peoples' egos, it won't matter what the truth is or what the logic is. NDSU needs to learn to work within the system or all NDUS institutions will suffer. Whether the ND legislature thinks they are in charge, or wants to be in charge, or if NDSU thinks they are in charge doesn't matter. Tick people off enough and the legislature will be in charge. They make the rules unless there is a constitutional prohibition that restricts a certain action.

The official thread of coach and team appreciation
Siouxman replied to farce poobah's topic in Men's Hockey
The class flows throughout the entire coaching staff and team. Everyone is always giving the credit to others. Completely unselfish, without a hint of "me" anywhere. I thought that the between period interviews on Saturday night showed a stark contrast: Chris Porter vs T.J. Hensick. One had class, and the other left you guessing. I won't say which was which, but Iron Man is one classy individual. I believe that right now Chicago has to be very happy with what they are seeing. -
Mr. and Mrs. Siouxman, Keikla, and Morley will be there at the Drury Plaza. Just got our reservation an hour or so ago. We'll be in Section 322. GO SIOUX!!

The big question: Is TheTriouxper going to be holding up the bar when I get to St. Loooie, just like in Milwaukee?
